The Exodus And Our Salvation
For the Jews the salvation event was the Exodus and journey to the Promised Land, and it is instructive to look at that as pre-figuring our salvation. Of course it is not exactly the same in every details but it does have many similarities.1.It was a grace, a free gift from God. It was not merited or earned, but nevertheless the Jews had a part to play in that salvation process, not least they had to accept God’s offer of salvation through faith. We are offered salvation as a free unearned, unmerited gift and have to accept it though faith. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God (Eph 2:8)2.God redeemed them. I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. (Ex 6:6)Jesus redeemed us. He it is who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity (Ti 2:14)3.As part of the initial salvation process the Jews had to perform prescribed rituals (the Passover meal, painting blood on the door posts and lintels). As part of our initial salvation process we have to perform prescribed rituals in the rite of baptism (the immersion in, or pouring of, water and the words of baptism).Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Mt 28:19).4. They were saved through water (Red sea). The Israelites went into the sea on dry ground, the waters forming a wall for them on their right and on their left. (Ex 14:22)We are saved though water in baptism. The one who believes and is baptized will be saved (Mk 16:16)5.After crossing the Red sea they were transferred from the slavery of Pharaoh to the freedom of God. I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery (Ex 20:2) We are freed from the slavery of sin to become children of God. He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son (Col 1:13)6.They were aliens in Egypt. ..for you were aliens in the land of Egypt (Ex 22:21)We were aliens. So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God (Eph 2:19)7.Moses was their sole mediator between them and God. When all the people witnessed the thunder and lightning, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking, they were afraid and trembled and stood at a distance, and said to Moses, “You speak to us, and we will listen; but do not let God speak to us, or we will die.” (Ex 20;18)Christ is our sole mediator between us and God. For there is one God; there is also one mediator between God and humankind, Christ Jesus (1Tim 2:5)8.God made the covenant with the people through Moses and then they entered into that covenant through Moses. He [God] said: I hereby make a covenant. (Ex 34:10) & The Lord said to Moses: Write these words; in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel. (Ex 34:27)God made the new covenant with us through Jesus and we enter into it through him. “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.” (Acts 22:20) 9. That is why Paul says that all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea (1Cor 10:2)That is why Paul says we are baptised into Christ (Rom 6:3 & Gal 3:27)10.After crossing the Red sea they still had to reach the “promised land” - CanaanAfter our baptism we still have to reach our promised land - Heaven.11.Before they could enter the promised land they had grow in faith, learn obedience to God’s ways (the Law) and become holy (sanctified). but you shall be for me a priestly kingdom and a holy nation. (Ex 19:6).Before we enter heaven we have to grow in faith, learn obedience to God’s ways (the commandments) For the love of God is this, that we obey his commandments (1 Jn 5:3) and become holy (sanctified) as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct (1Pet 1:15)12.They had to make a personal commitment to God at Mount Sinai. Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord and all the ordinances; and all the people answered with one voice, and said, “All the words that the Lord has spoken we will do.” (Ex 24:3)We have to make a personal commitment to Christ, especially if we were baptised as children. If you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Rom 10:9)13.Despite this many grumbled and fell away, wanted to back to the slavery of Egypt and they had to be punished and brought back.We often grumble, slide back, hanker after sin but God has to chastise us and bring us back to him.14.God fed them on their journey on manna. Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died (Jn 6:49) We are fed on the bread of life for our journey. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh. (Jn 6:51)15.Before they entered the promised land many lost faith in God and thereby lost their inheritance and died in the desert. Many who accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour fall away and lose their inheritance (no OSAS). But the one who endures to the end will be saved (Mt 10:22)

There are so many errors and non-sequencers in your post that it is extremely hard to address it. For instance, the Hebrews being led out of slavery might have been their physical "salvation", but it cannot in any way be equated with the New Covenant between God and man that results in spiritual salvation.Moses may have been the sole "mediator" between the Hebrews and God, but can that prophet be compared in any way with Jesus, the Son of God? Hardly, except in the loosest of comparisons, and then with no real or substantial context between the two.Rituals were a part of Jewish Law, but there are absolutely no "rituals" associated with true Christianity as it is found in Scripture. We have two ordinances, baptism and the Lord's Supper, but neither is (or at least should not be) a ritual. And remember that the water baptism you are referring to is not the baptism that counts, spiritually speaking. That baptism is by the Holy Spirit, and occurs with His indwelling in every true believer at the instant of their attainment of sufficient belief, which He alone knows to be sufficient (in both quantity and duration).I will not address any more of this post. The old testament is full of types you can not rule them out as teaching aids its the way the book is layed out there in almost nothing in the New testament that was first in the Old as a type or forerunner. the exodus,Passover ect are most certainly types of what will happen again. Exactly the same no but spiritully the same. There is nothing new under the sun meaning what was before will be again. May I bring to mind, Jonah in the Whale belly a type for Christ in the tomb 3 days. The Lamb as a sacrafice a type of the perfect sacraficial Lamb Jesus Christ. God teaches much this way in examples, types same as you would teach a child.

Thanks for your comments. Many years ago I thought the OT was almost irrelevant - some nice stories, like Jonah, Elijah & the prophets of Baal etc. But now I realise just how the OT & NT slot together and make more sense in the light of each other.
