The name Jesus, from what I understand, came from the transliteration of a translation of the Hebrew word, "Yeshua."
Nope. No one knows were it came from. LOL As you can see Yeshua can be pronounce in English.

Two Gods, well defined in the Gospels. There are no "two Gods". Two divine Persons, yet ONE God.
But His name isn't God....He is God....but His name is multiple names according to the function it serves....That all sounds good..
The problem is that, those in a cult....feel exactly the same way. It is good to know the truth. There is no insult to that and no conflict to that.
And when you get down to the brass tacks of it all, if your calling on another name other than God, is it idolatry? Who would want that? So do these verses apply....My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins. James 5:19-20
Still good to know the names of God the Father and God the Son.
Two Gods, well defined in the Gospels.
ONE God, three distinct persons. Theres only 1 God, not two.
Three Gods as defined by the Bible
It is an English translation...Nope. No one knows were it came from. LOL As you can see Yeshua can be pronounce in English.
Believing they are 2 Gods sounds cultish to me, but hey, if you believe you are saved by Christ's atonement, we can agree to disagree on the other stuff. That all sounds good..

We're talking 2 different languages here and you know it. LolNope. No one knows were it came from. LOL As you can see Yeshua can be pronounce in English.
It is an English translation...
The Bible nowhere commands us to only speak or write His name in Hebrew or Greek. It never even hints at such an idea. Rather, when the message of the gospel was being proclaimed on the Day of Pentecost, the apostles spoke in the languages of the “Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene” (Acts 2:9–10). In the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus was made known to every language group in a way they could readily understand. Spelling did not matter.
We refer to Him as “Jesus” because, as English-speaking people, we know of Him through English translations of the Greek New Testament. Scripture does not value one language over another, and it gives no indication that we must resort to Hebrew when addressing the Lord. The command is to “call on the name of the Lord,” with the promise that we “shall be saved” (Acts 2:21; Joel 2:32). Whether we call on Him in English, Korean, Hindi, or Hebrew, the result is the same: the Lord is salvation.
Isn't this legalism? I never struggled with calling our Lord "Jesus" until someone tried to create doubt in my mind. What do you think would happen to a Jew they found praying to a god with another name. Do you think that Christ would say, I don't care what ya call me, just as long as you call me to dinner.
Or instead of the scriptures saying, Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” How about...Salvation is found with just about anybody....the name is not important.....make one up.
That is what they did with the name Jesus. They could have called Him George, at least we know where that comes from.
The names of God the Father and God the Son are important.
We're talking 2 different languages here and you know it. Lol
I see scripture as a menu and my relationship with the God of the universe as the meal. The problem here is that you do not know much about linguistics and how they apply. The languages do not matter now and they did not matter then. Two people meet at a cross roads that do not speak the same language but they both know what Rome means. So one can say Rome and the other could point the way. Same thing for god Zeus....it did not matter what language it was, it was pronounce Zeus. And it is still that way, Zeus is pronounced the same way in English as it was in Greek. The name of God the Father and God the Son are at least as important as Zeus.
The name of Christ in the scriptures is not a name at all. It is a Greek word that means, one who saves or a rescuer.
No this is not legalism...Isn't this legalism?
So I spent years trying to correct my prayers praying in Yeshua's name instead of in Jesus name...then I just got really messed up thinking my prayers wouldn't be heard because I used Jesus instead of Yeshua....
Finally, I just gave it to Him and asked that He show me what is acceptable to Him.
Jesus is what I use in my prayers today.
Believing they are 2 Gods sounds cultish to me, but hey, if you believe you are saved by Christ's atonement, we can agree to disagree on the other stuff.

I call Him Yahweh-Elohim, Abba-Bene-Ruach, Father-Son-Holy Spirit, Lord, as well as some other names. He knows who I'm talking to, as He occupies the same space as I do. Yeshua HaMashiach calls me Ron, Ruach HaKodesh calls me friend, and AbbaHashem calls me son. Sometimes He's 3 and sometimes He's one...I get a headache if I think about it too much.
"It is what the scriptures say" is one of the most open-ended statements going. Depending on who's interpretation? What I say and what I believe does not matter....it is what the scriptures say.

KJV, NIV, NLT, AMP, NKJV, NASB, others...I've found they all have strengths and weaknesses. The answer in Quora was given by a Jehovahs Witness, Big Smiles!
The 60 scholars on the KJV committee were well qualified in textual translation
1 John 5:7-8 is in my holy bible, 409 years and growing strong
As far as reading the words that is reading comprehension.Depending on who's interpretation?
I've spent decades reading different translations, doing etymology, read books, watched videos, going to seminars and conferences, ministered in a powerful move of the Holy Spirit for several years, spent years alone doing little but seeking God's face, so I know my Lord. As long as we are seeking Him and being led by Him, that's what matters. In my opinion. For the past 2 years, I've been slowly discovering what it means to be Hebrew, which, as the Lord has shown me, I am. Shalom.
