Some of you may remember Norman Grubb, Missionary and one of the great writers of our time.
I remember a friend giving me a Grubb book, I read some and put it down because it just wasn't my cup of tea.
What I learned in time was Grubb wrote mostly about his understanding of the Christ in him. Norman had a revelation of the indwelling Christ in him on one of his African missionary tours and now was writing about it.
I had no idea what he was talking about, I did my preaching strictly from the Old Testament where you could get a message about the types and shadows, that was my thrill.
I mention Norman Grubb because he had young men and women that sat under him for years. Norman lived to be 93 year's old and some of his students at the time that are still alive are rapidly approaching their 90's and still going.
Norman was what we call a "father of the faith." As Paul so eloquently describes, "we have many instructors in Christ, but not many father's."
If you have never had the pleasure to be around these men and women who know and understand the plan and purpose of God, I strongly urge you to do so. It changes your life, you can Nolonger be just an average Joe sailing through life, you see as well feel what it is like to get called into a life of selflessness.
Most do not have a pulpit of today's standards, they make their own. Their great commission is faithfulness to the Father. They speak a different language, they have their own sound, they don't sound like so many others. There has been a furtherance of the gospel truth they spoke, but what came from them was pure truth for today.
These that are still with us such as Don Byrd, Dwight Davis, Frank Stigall (who has passed but wrote many books), Amy Garcia ( author, song writer and minister). Just to mention a few.
Sad that few there be that will ever get to meet these precious individuals who gave their all for the message of Christ in you.
Another that goes without mentioning is a wonderful man by the name of Warren Litzman. Dedicated to the purpose of telling the world that they were made in the image and likeness of God, and Christ desires to live in and through you, as their only life. A magnanimous individual that will go down in our time as a great if not the greatest writer-teacher to live in our lifetime.
Faithful to sit under Norman Grubb and listen to the HolySpirit, becoming a father of the faith, Godspeed my dear friend
