Thanks to Trump and the corrupt FIFA.

Whether or not Folarin Balogun should have gotten a red card in the first place, FIFA has demonstrated it will do anything to appease Trump.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is all about the almighty dollar!
Nor is this the first instance of FIFA and Gianni Infantino as its figurehead going out of their way to give Trump exactly what he wants, no doubt hoping that having the U.S. President on their good side will lead to a smoother tournament. Infantino has spent years sucking up to Trump, to the point of renting empty, unused Trump Tower space in New York for $40,000 per month as a perfectly legal way of providing direct payments to the President’s company … which Trump of course refused to divest himself of, unlike all previous Presidents.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No matter how you look at it, the head of Fifa has been in bed with Donald for a long time.

Oh that's right, you're a Canadian. LOL
Your buddy Donald the Trump likes to get involved in every country.
And you expect people in other countries not to comment and be silent?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Give your head a good shake.

Trump said the referee’s call was “horrible” and explained that he thought the play involved “two great athletes that crashed into each other and got entangled.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Coming from a guy who knows nothing about soccer games.

All is good now.

Belgium shatters U.S.’s World Cup dream with emphatic 4-1 win.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Belgium men’s soccer team just beatthe USA, dominating them in their Round of 16 World Cup showdown on the United States’ home soil.

Belgium finished with a 4-1 win, with the 4th coming from star striker Romelo Lukaku in last minute stoppage time.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Right after Lukaku scored this goal, he and many other members of Belgium’s roster celebrated by doing the iconic Donald Trump dance in a circle together.

Sure thing @Debp but it was inevitable. It's just a matter of math. In US football is what, the number 4 sport? While in about the rest of the world it's the number one sport. US has more than 20 times inhabitants than Belgium, 4 times more than France, Germany etc. Make it your number one sport and you will win many world champion titles.

All the hosts are out now.
USA, Canada and Mexico.
And there was nothing corrupt about it.
The team who scores the most wins.
It's simple.
Both my countries are out as well
You can either accept it, enjoy the rest of the tournament or be bitter, cry and make accusations about it.

I wasn't talking about soccer (football) when I posted to him. I was talking about his attitude.

It started with 48 nations and fans filled with hopes and dreams.
Now 44 nations and their fans have been shattered and only 4 countries remain in the semi finals of the world cup.

France vs Spain
England vs Argentina

They are the top 4 countries in the FIFA rankings. Who will be victorious?

Have to admit there's been a bit of controversy, some decisions which I didn't agree with and other decisions that were straight out wrong. But it is what it is, FIFA always favour the big teams. England vs Argentina makes more money than Norway vs Switzerland

I think France will be, they've played the best football.
I hope Argentina don't win it because FIFA and the referees have shown an unfair favouritism towards them.

COME ON England.

Dont have great memories of Eng v Arg in the world cup.

The stats over their history surprised me.

England vs. Argentina: The overall head-to-head record

England holds the edge in the all-time series between the two sides. Across official international matches, the numbers favor the Three Lions:

  • Matches played: 14
  • England wins: 6
  • Argentina wins: 2
  • Draws: 5
  • Goals scored: England 21, Argentina 15
While England leads statistically, the relatively low number of meetings, and the magnitude of many of those games, mean the rivalry has often been defined more by moments than volume.

World Cup history: High stakes, bigger drama

The World Cup is where this rivalry has truly come to life. England and Argentina have met five times on football’s biggest stage, with England again holding the advantage. England have won three of those encounters, Argentina have won two, including a penalty shootout victory in 1998 after a 2–2 draw.

  • 1962 – Group Stage: England 3–1 Argentina (England win)
  • 1966 – Quarterfinal: England 1–0 Argentina (England win)
  • 1986 – Quarterfinal: Argentina 2–1 England (Argentina win)
  • 1998 – Round of 16: Argentina 2–2 England (Argentina win on penalties)
  • 2002 – Group Stage: England 1–0 Argentina (England win)
But those raw numbers only tell part of the story. Their most famous clash came in the 1986 when Argentina legend Diego Maradona scored both the controversial “Hand of God” goal and the stunning “Goal of the Century” in a 2-1 victory. That match remains one of the most iconic, and contentious, in soccer history.

Time perhaps for England to put that right.

My earliest memory of a world cup was 1986. I was just a child. But those 2 goals will never be forgotten. Most contravoursial goal and the greatest goal in world cup history, and I think it happened within the space of 10 minutes.
I actually thought it was a semi final but your right it was a quarter final

But geez, England had the ref's and VAR on their side vs Norway.
1st England goal the ball hit the camera wire, gol should of been disallowed. VAR said nothing despite the ball having a sensor in it that should of picked it up, and the ref didn't even go to the screen to have a look despite Norway players telling the ref what happened.
Then Norway had a goal disallowed that was very debateable. Should of stood in my opinion.
England very lucky. FIFA always favours big nation over small nation.
England vs Argentina makes more money than Norway vs Switzerland.
For that reason I hope England and Argentina don't win it, both teams have been favoured by FIFA this tournament
