No, you cannot see the North Pole or its guiding star, Polaris (the North Star), from Australia because Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere, meaning Polaris sits below the horizon, making the Southern Cross and other southern stars visible instead. The North Pole's celestial point is too far north for Australians to observe; they would need to travel to the Northern Hemisphere for that view.

As a scientist you should know better.

Not that only, consider the airlines. They'd all have to be in on it, with the pilots, flight attendants, how many people would that be?

And the shipping, they'd all have to be in on it. Obviously it would take much much longer to go from Africa to South America then from Europe to North America, for instance. So all the cruise lines, and tanker ships, and on and on and on.

I think you'd have to have millions of people who all chose to not be the one to become famous by revealing the lie.
