When I was a pastor, my organist died of cancer. Without consulting me, the board hired Jon to replace her, a gay Jewish Music director (a jazz group leader), who was a cocaine addict, who took the job just to make some extra cash. I never confronted John with Scriptures on homosexuality, as Jim' s critics would want me to do, for 2 reasons: (1) I knew John already knew these Scriptures. (2) I knew that confrontation would simply drive Jon away. So I just trusted the Spirit to work on Jon through the preached Word. It worked marvelously! Jon eventually approached me to baptize him. The path of hateful confrontation advocated by Jim's critics just doesn't work and I want sinners to get saved!
