1 John 1:8 - If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

But:

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

Then, afterwards, your duty as a saved Christian is to:

“…go, and sin no more.” (John 8:11)

All of your theological word salads don’t hold up to these simple and concise commands.

But:

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
Which is in contrast with, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." (1 John 1:8) and "If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us." (1 John 1:10) Yet you claim to have no sins to confess.
Then, afterwards, your duty as a saved Christian is to:

“…go, and sin no more.” (John 8:11)
Jesus was telling the woman to go and leave her life of sin, namely, she had been practicing adultery. Also, Jesus cannot compromise his perfect holy standard, so of course He is not going to say, "go and just sin a little bit."
All of your theological word salads don’t hold up to these simple and concise commands.
No theological word salads. I simply harmonize scripture with scripture before reaching my conclusion on doctrine to avoid contradictions and false gospels.

We have Jesus tell at least two different people to "go, and sin no more" Did he mean it? Is it possible?

Jn 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

Jn 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Thoughts?

Go and Sin no more...is this possible?

Possible? YES.

How?
* To First KNOW “WHAT” Sin IS.
* To then Have the Heartful Desire to Overcome one’s SIN.
* To then Trust to Accept Gods Offering that He and His POWER WILL …
Forgive, deliver from and KEEP every man (so willing to Heartfully Accept) From Sin forever more.[/U]

Glory to God,

1 John 1:8 - If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

That expressly applies to one … “WHO SAYS that”.

A forgiven man… confessed his Sin…
He didn’t say he had none.

A forgiven man…IS Spiritually MADE Accounted Whole…body, soul, spirit (in Gods Books of Evidence)…

Yet a man can Still SEE his old natural body that sinned.

And other men can also SEE that old natural body of SIN… and continually remind such man how wretched he is.

BUT… What Does God See in such man?
A man Who is forgiven.
A man Who is Already Restored, body, soul, spirit.

A man who’s “temporary” occupancy IS “IN” Christs risen, glorified body…
Until the day the man’s OWN body is Risen Glorified.

And… that mans Name…in Gods Books of Evidence…
* Gods Book of Life…Name entered at the foundation of the World.
AND
* Lambs Book of Life…Name entered at the moment the man was crucified with Jesus’ Body and took up residency IN Christ the Lord Jesus’ Risen Body.
* Gods Books…
* ARE Gods Evidence of the Living, the Dead, the Forgiven, the Unforgiven, their Works, their Blessings, their Rewards, their Gifts, their Treasures, their Judgement Consequences.

No one who has appealed and Asked for Their own Sin Forgiveness is one who claims they “HAVE No sin”….
They Do “Have sin…it’s called… “forgiven Sin…”

That God remembers no more…
But …some men are focused on and dwell on…and masters at “Remembering”, “Accusing” “other men of committing sin”.

God bless you.

Glory to God,
Taken

Well you have folks who admit they have sinned prior to their alleged conversion, but then claim after their alleged conversion, they never sin anymore at all in word, deed or thought. No more sins to confess at all.

Do you (like Michiah-Imla) claim to be 100% without any sin, like Christ, from moment-to-moment 24/7?

I claim to HAVE “forgiven Sin”, that God remembers “no more”.

I claim to be “soul” restored (by Gods Power)

I claim to be “spirit” born again (by Gods Seed)

I claim to HAVE freely given my BODY unto Death (crucified with Jesus’ Body).

I claim SIN IS NON Heartful Belief in the Lord God Almighty.

I claim “SIN “ Applies to men … WHO Agreed to Be Obedient to Mosaic Law and Then Fail To Be Obedient to Mosaic LAW…

That Law was not Given me.
I did not claim I would Obey Mosaic Law.
That Law was Fulfilled.
(With Jesus Body and Blood Death Sin Offering).
That Law was Not Destroyed.
Any man can STILL claim That Law Applies to him.
And any man that claims that Law applies to him and does not Obey…Remains subject to the Negative SIN Consequences.

I claim to SIN “no more”…
by Gods Word, Authority, Power.
by my occupancy “IN” Christ Jesus’ risen Body.

I claim my occupancy “IN Christ Jesus’ Risen Body”…is a Blessing and Perfected Gift from God, until the “Time” my own… forgiven, cleansed, justified, sanctified, marked, glorified body is risen and Redeemed / by The Lord Gods Command and Calling.

Am I “sinless”? No.
Am I “prepared” to be Redeemed, claimed and Risen up “Sinless”? Yes.

Can I be rude, mean, hate (which means strong Dislike), cheat, fabricate lies, steal, etc. AGAINST “MEN”? Yes.
Can men do the Same Against me? Yes
Is that a SIN? No
Is that a Trespass? Yes
Can / Do men forgive SIN? No
Can / Do men forgive Trespasses ? Yes.
Will God Forgive a mans own Trespasses….
IF that same man Forgives men their Trespasses Against him? Yes.

Man was Never Told to BELIEVE IN Men.
Man WAS Told to BELIEVE IN the Lord God Almighty.
The LACK of a Mans Belief IN the Lord God Almighty…
IS a mans SIN AGAINST God, that Only God Himself can Forgive.

WHO is the Lord God Almighty?
* Lord…Jesus, Son, Word, Truth, Seen, Maker, Teacher, Example
* God…Yahweh, Father, Invisible, Creator
* Almighty…CHRIST, Supreme Power, wisdom, Seed of God.

My “perfection” IS being “IN Christ… while I Wait for the Day (secret to me), The Lord calls me to Meet Him.

Hope that resonates with you.
Anything particular you wish to ask me regarding Scriptural Verification, for my claims…Mention and Ask.

God bless you.

I do not repeatedly ask God for what He has already given me.

Many HOPE they will one day Receive.
Others HAVE already Received and Wait to See with Spiritual EYES, what human Eyes can not See.

Believers "confess" (Greek - homologeó) speak the same/acknowledge/agree with God's perspective about their sins and have a settled recognition and ongoing acknowledgment that one is a sinner in need of cleansing and forgiveness in contrast with saying that we have no sin or that we have not sinned. (1 John 1:8-10)

I've heard certain people interpret 1 John 1:9 to mean that we "must confess each and every sin that we commit as we commit them" (keep a specific inventory of every sin we have ever committed) as an "additional requirement" to "remain cleansed" and "if we forget a sin we are toast!" Who could actually write an exhaustive list of every sin they have ever committed or ever will commit? Sin is not only missing the mark by what we do but also what we fail to do. (James 4:17)

@mailmandan

Jesus said to sin no more.

Period.

To imply that she was free to sin in other things is ridiculous.

It’s a very serious matter to add to the holy scripture what they do not actually say.

Very serious.

You need much prayer to awaken you.

Regarding “they” who claim to BE Saved…
And…
Also claim they “continue” to “Commit SIN”…
“their claims are oxymorons”…

The SAV-ED / QUICKENED …sin no more…
Never Again can “NOT BELIEVE”…
Guaranteed by the Power of God “ IN Them”.

What “sins” exactly are they claiming to “commit”… ?

Likely… Trespasses against other men, that men can forgive…. Because the “harm” affected the other man.

Likely many do Not understand there IS a difference between Trespasses and Sin.
Trespass is man against man.
Sin is mans Unbelief in God.
Only God Forgives Sin.

Are we on the same page?

Jesus said to sin no more.

Period.
Jesus was offering mercy coupled with a call to turn away from her lifestyle of sin of practicing adultery, rather than an attainable mandate for absolute flawless, sinless perfection in her earthly life. Period.
To imply that she was free to sin in other things is ridiculous.
I was not implying she was free to go and sin all she wants in other things. Your straw man arguments are ridiculous.
It’s a very serious matter to add to the holy scripture what they do not actually say.

Don't think for a second that I can't see right through your projection. Pot calling the kettle black! I hope that you had a chance to read bdavidc's post #5,407.
He really hit the nail on the head! :woohoo!:

John 8
Jesus was speaking in the Temple, which should notify you Jesus was speaking to JEWS.
Inasmuch as Gentiles were learning something NEW (The Jewish God and Lord Jesus)
So also we’re Jews (under Mosaic Laws) learning something new…( Mosaic Law fulfillment )

Realizing… neither group (Jews or Gentiles) individually ALL understood the “new “ information all at once…( no fast speed tv, computers, rather slow travels and word of mouth).

In Jewish Mosaic Law, many deviations from the Laws… were “SINS” unto the Jews, under the Law.

Gentiles were NOT under Mosaic Law.

The Jewish woman, was forgiven her sin OF Adultery per Mosaic Law and told to “sin no more”…

IOW… commit Adultery “no more”.

Is Adultery a “SIN” unto a Gentile?
I would say No.
Because the sin of Adultery is Mosaic Law.
I would say the Act of Adultery by a Gentile (or) Jew (no longer under Mosaic Law)
Is a Trespass Against their spouse, and the one who the Adulterer should ask for Forgiveness of their Trespass.

Not saying to “Ignore” OT Laws… they are mingled with precepts, that which ARE positive behaviors Between humans, for a positive outcome benefit.

Absolutely.

If you make that claim having NOT confessed and denying Christ.
You make the claim of sinless perfection in spite of (Romans 7:18-19; James 3:2; 1 John 1:8) and you have previously denied that Jesus IS God in spite of (John 1:1, 14; 8:58; 10:30; 20:28).
You are blinded my friend.
More projection. Go look in the mirror.

And to add… why was Adultery an issue?
Besides the hurt and anguish heaped upon the spouse?

It was / is a foreshadow of a mans One on one relationship with God.

Once that one on one relationship “yoking” is established… there IS Zero possibility that one man can “cheat on God” by choosing a different God.
Because inpart of the “commitment” Gods Own Power assures He will Keep the man “committed” unto God.
