Believers "confess" (Greek - homologeó) speak the same/acknowledge/agree with God's perspective about their sins and have a settled recognition and ongoing acknowledgment that one is a sinner in need of cleansing and forgiveness in contrast with saying that we have no sin or that we have not sinned. (1 John 1:8-10)

I've heard certain people interpret 1 John 1:9 to mean that we "must confess each and every sin that we commit as we commit them" (keep a specific inventory of every sin we have ever committed) as an "additional requirement" to "remain cleansed" and "if we forget a sin we are toast!" Who could actually write an exhaustive list of every sin they have ever committed or ever will commit? Sin is not only missing the mark by what we do but also what we fail to do. (James 4:17)

James 1:
[1] James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.

Glory to God,

We are at least in the same chapter.

It squarely lands on…

* True Heartful belief is required to become made whole and saved by God.

* The belief must be established Before a mans bodily Death.

* The soul saving and spirit quickening is Given AFTER an accounted Bodily Death.

* An “accounting” of a bodily Death is PER Gods Accounting…
** Physical bodily Death.
**Crucified with Jesus’ body.

Still mortally alive (but accounted Dead, crucified with Jesus’ body)…you also thereafter live in Jesus’ Risen Body…
Called “IN Christ”.

His Spirit is Also IN You, as He Promised.

John 14:
[17] Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
[20] At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

John.15
[4] Abide in me, and I in you.

And … none is greater than He who abides in you.

Christ the Power of God.
1 Cor 1:
[24] But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

And…
1 John 4:
[4] Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

It is a once and forever promise to Forever be with God…
And while “still in this world, With God”…
Nothing can separate Him from you or you from Him.

Glory and Thanks be unto God,
Taken

“GO AND SIN NO MORE” - Jesus Christ the Lord.

What will you say to the Lord when you meet him at judgement day having continued in sin after being washed in his blood?

Clever theological reasoning probably won’t do you any good.

So, knowing the right thing to do and failing to do it, is only sin for the twelve tribes of Israel?

Once again, Jesus was offering mercy to the woman who was caught in adultery, along with a call to turn away from her lifestyle of sin/practicing adultery, which would be continuing in sin. Jesus knows that she will not obtain absolute flawless, sinless perfection in her earthly life, yet Jesus cannot compromise His perfect, holy standard, so He is not going to lower the bar and say, just sin occasionally.

To "continue in sin” means to to deliberately, habitually, and unrepentantly persist in a lifestyle of sin. I have no misconceptions about God’s forgiveness and grace giving a person a free pass to keep sinning all they want/practice sin. God forbid!

What will you say to the Lord when you meet Him at judgement day claiming to have no sin, which stems from self deception and a lack of the truth within you, along with denying that Jesus is God? To deny the deity of Jesus is to say he is a created being, a prophet, or a great moral teacher, but is not God in essence/nature. Only Jesus Christ who is God in the flesh can save you from your sins. A different Jesus cannot save you. ⚠️
