This word "predestined" means to appoint before hand very similar to making an appointment or a reservation; arranging in advance for something to happen at a certain time. When God looked down through time to see us making our decision to be saved, He made an appointment for us to be conformed to the image of His son.
Bible says, Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Matt. 7:7-8)

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

“For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:40)

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

I consider that the kjv rendering of John 3:16 has its purpose in saying that those who believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (rather than "shall").

See Hebrews 4:12.

In going from scripture to scripture, the understanding that baptism and/or calling on the name of the Lord secure salvation is important (see Mark 16:16, Romans 10:13).

Simply believing does not secure salvation (Luke 8:13). The person in the verse just referenced believed for a while and then fell away; because their faith was merely shallow, lukewarm, or nominal.

Of course, if someone has a faith that is unto righteousness (Romans 10:10) and the enduring to the end (Hebrews 3:14), that faith is unto everlasting life (John 6:47) which by definition can never come to an end; thus denoting eternal security.

without getting into it, that's not predestination. nice try though. you must be called chosen and faithful.

Jesus says plainly,

Joh_6:44　 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

that is man's chose.

and Paul explains,

2Th_2:10　 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

so one must receive the love of the truth to be saved.

I'v seen some here try to argue that elect is OT people, but Jesus says here:


Mar_13:22　 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

hence NT believers also.

finding the lost, or what was lost, is a given in this case because one must be what God sees as lost to Him. and that is what His choice is. Jesus when He walked amongst the children of Israel looked for what? those who would believe and trust Him which is God's Word. those who have received the love of the Truth of which Jesus is.
