The Old Testament Tabernacle was a shadow of the New Testament plan of salvation and Moses was admonished of God to be very precise (Hebrews 8:5).
God gave instruction on how to take care of sin:
A. In typology, the Tabernacle is an "example" of the Gospel
1). The Gospel is defined as the the death, burial, resurrection of Jesus (1Cor. 15:1-4).
2). We are commanded to Obey the Gospel.
B. The first step - the altar/dying out
1). We are commanded to repent (Luke 13:3)
C. Laver of water
1). This was extremely important or the priest would die (Exodus 30:19-21)
2). Wash away sin (Acts 22:16)
D. The "Holy Place" & to the "Holiest of Holies"
1). The furniture of the holy place (Exodus 25:23-40)
2). Then behind the veil (Exodus 25:10-22)
3). Holy Spirit
Note: Even the actual layout of the Tabernacle looks like a cross
We see this is a shadow of the New Testament plan of salvation.
Luke 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
The Gospel is the Death, Burial, Resurrection of Jesus.
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (39) For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
