The Old Testament Tabernacle was a shadow of the New Testament plan of salvation and Moses was admonished of God to be very precise (Hebrews 8:5).

God gave instruction on how to take care of sin:

A. In typology, the Tabernacle is an "example" of the Gospel
1). The Gospel is defined as the the death, burial, resurrection of Jesus (1Cor. 15:1-4).
2). We are commanded to Obey the Gospel.

B. The first step - the altar/dying out
1). We are commanded to repent (Luke 13:3)

C. Laver of water
1). This was extremely important or the priest would die (Exodus 30:19-21)
2). Wash away sin (Acts 22:16)

D. The "Holy Place" & to the "Holiest of Holies"
1). The furniture of the holy place (Exodus 25:23-40)
2). Then behind the veil (Exodus 25:10-22)
3). Holy Spirit
Note: Even the actual layout of the Tabernacle looks like a cross

We see this is a shadow of the New Testament plan of salvation.

Luke 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

The Gospel is the Death, Burial, Resurrection of Jesus.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (39) For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

God's Salvation to the World:
Cease from all sin by His grace through your faith
in Jesus Christ.

Paul emphasized that saving faith is inseparably bound up with obedience. He taught that the mystery of God's redemptive plan, the church, has been "made known to all nations for the obedience of faith" (Romans 16:26). The New International Version translates this last phrase as "...so that all nations might believe and obey him" God's grace brings "obedience to the faith" (Romans 1:5). Christ worked through Paul to "make the Gentiles obedient" (Romans 15:18). Similarly, Luke recorded that a great number of priests were "obedient to the faith" (Acts 6:7). Faith and obedience are so closely linked that a lack of obedience to God is proof of a lack of faith (Romans 10:16).

Many other passages reiterate the essential link between obedience and salvation. Jesus said, "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 7:21). Only the man that both hears and does the Lord's Word will be saved (Matthew 7:24-27). Jesus also said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments" (John 14:15); "If a man love me, he will keep my words" (John 14:23).

The Lord will punish with everlasting destruction those who "obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ" (II Thessalonians 1:7-10). Christ has become "the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him" (Hebrews 5:9). Peter said, "For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?" (I Peter 4:17).

Saving faith includes active obedience. We must apply the blood of the Lamb to our lives by obedience to His gospel of repentance, water baptism in His name, and receiving His Spirit.

Acts 2:37-39 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Awesome thread.

The OT definitely shadows the Acts 2:38 salvation plan.

Per the OT tabernacle pattern...

The animal died at the altar...Jesus was sacrificed...we die(repent).

The priest washed at the Laver...Jesus was baptized...we wash our sins away by being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ per Acts 2:38.

The priest passed the vail in the Holiest of Holies....Jesus passed the vail as it was rent in two...we pass the vail as we receive the Holy Ghost.

This is what it means to follow Jesus.

There is a lot of false theology here that desperately needs to be corrected.

1. The OT tabernacle was a type of the Temple that exists in Heaven, not the gospel:

"a Minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man." - Heb. 8:2

"who serve the copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said, “See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.” - Heb. 8:5

"After these things I looked, and behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened." -Rev. 15:5

2. The gospel is not about the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. That is the counterfeit gospel of Romanism. According to the Bible, the gospel is about the kingdom of God(Mar. 1:14-15, Luk. 8:10, 9:2, 11, 60, Acts 1:3, 8:12, 19:8, 20:25, 28:23). Despite what Romanists believe, Paul spoke of Christ's resurrection from death and the gospel as being 2 different subjects in 1 Cor. 15:1-4. Paul words in verses 12 and 15 perfectly explains why he mentioned Christ's death, burial, and resurrection in verses 3-4:

"But tell me this—since we preach that Christ rose from the dead, why are some of you saying there will be no resurrection of the dead? Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise.- 1 Cor. 15:12,15

There is a reason why 1 Cor. 15 is usually called the resurrection chapter: the entirety of it is devoted to Paul disproving the belief that nobody was resurrected from the dead and that nobody will ever be resurrected from the dead.

3. The ritual washings for the ceremonially unclean were a type of being cleansed by the Holy Spirit. The Bible teaches throughout OT prophecy and Christ's own statements that water is always symbolic of the Holy Spirit. That's why the tabernacle always had to be erected on top of or near a source of freshwater. The Bible itself teaches in Eze. 47:1-12 that water will flow out from under the Millennial Temple to teach this same lesson.

4. This is probably the most important part that needs to be addressed. There is no such thing as a "New Testament plan of salvation", and there certainly wasn't any OT foreshadowing of a new kind of salvation. That kind of statement can only be made by someone who doesn't know what salvation actually is and fail to understand the fact that salvation was never offered to a single person before Christ's death.

As Gen. 3:24 clearly shows, God cut all of mankind off from having free access to His Spirit, and Rom. 8 teaches that a person has to possess this Spirit to receive salvation. If anyone reads the promises God made to Israel when the former covenant was ratified, they should objectively be able to acknowledge the fact that He only promised physical blessings and never mentioned anything about eternal life.

There has only been 1 plan of biblical salvation, and that plan is laid out through the Lev. 23 festivals God's true followers have kept throughout the many centuries. A rather significant aspect of Christ's ministry that Romanists gloss over is that Christ gave sermons/lectures on or around those Holy Days to illustrate their spiritual significance. But because Romanists reject those festivals as "Jewish" and instead embrace the occultic festivals ancient Israelites kept when they rebelled against God, they consequently blind themselves to that plan and the magnitude of Christ's statements concerning that plan.

So, you believe Acts 2:38 really means this?...

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized BY THE HOLY GHOST every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.?????

And this passage really means this?....

3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized BY THE HOLY GHOST into his death?

4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism OF THE HOLY GHOST into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

5 For if we have been planted BY THE HOLY GHOST together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified BY THE HOLY GHOST with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

7 For he that is dead BY THE HOLY GHOST is freed from sin.

8 Now if we be dead BY THE HOLY GHOST with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:...

Or like this?....

6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth death, planted, buried and crucified?

16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
