That's weird. Washington state relies to a great degree on wind and water generated electricity and they have one of the lowest electrical rates in the United States.
Australia is a continent. And I don't think Australians are stupid. Some of them, maybe. But not most.
Iowa gets a bit less than 65% of electrical energy from wind. And it's not expensive.
I think you said you were an engineer. Perhaps you can show us how Reynolds numbers are used to optimize shape, angle, and pitch of a wind generator blade. Since dynamic viscosity and fluid density don't vary much in the atmosphere, scale becomes critical in optimizing the number for most efficient design. Tell us about it.
I'm not an engineer; I'm a biologist. But for some biomechanical analyses, Reynolds numbers are important. Show us your analysis of these generator blades.
Edit: Barbarian learns that Betz's Law says that an ideal wind generator could harvest 59.3% of the kinetic energy in the wind. The best-designed generators get more like 46% of the kinetic energy in the wind. Still, pretty good.

I didn't say they don't have windmills. I said they hardly use them and that most of their electricity comes from coal. Even your illustration shows that.
This below says that wind, solar and hydro only makes up 25%-35% while coal makes up about 54%
So my statement was correct
The point I made was that the country of Australia has killed itself in the name of climate change. Replacing cheap coal fire energy for wind/solar making electricity, making it very expensive.

I know that Americans get taught that Australia is a continent but its not, its a country, it can't be both, that would cause confusion.
We get taught that Australia is in the continent of Australiasia/Oceana.
Countries like NZ, PNG and south pacific Islands are not in Australia, that would make no sense, they are in Oceana.

As of 2024, coal supplied about 38% of their electrical generation.

16% is not much at all. And considering your looking at 2024 I would say that's out of date. But either way I said that coal produces most of their electricity and I'm right whichever source you look at.
Perhaps you didn't read what I said properly.

It's silly to say that New Zealand or Fiji is in Australia because that's a country. It's more correct to say that New Zealand or Fiji is in Oceana. Far less confusing than claiming a country to be a continent.
But my point still stands true as a fact.

Exactly. In the 70s it was global cooling.
The 80s they said fossil fuels would run out.
In the 90s and 2000s it was global warming.
After seeing the globe was not warming, now it's climate change. All weather is caused by humans they claim.
As a matter of fact it's solar activity that is the main cause of climate. Sun storms and flares.
Meanwhile politicians have properties right by the water knowing that sea levels aren't rising at all. While winning money from stocks in wind and solar energy

He's just being divisive. Can' stand to concede a point that doesn't support the hysteria. Sure, you are 100% right but the trend is that one day it might be possible that you could be wrong. Yet, he doesn't apply such humility to his own claims. Imagine that?

Higher energy prices, more deaths, lower economic development and more poverty.
Because communists don't understand economics, they don't grasp that artificially forcing investment from higher return to lower return assets causes poverty at the margin and lowers wealth in general. Imagine if these watermelons had honesty in their marketing? Support public policy that:
- Causes more human deaths
- Causes more poverty.
- Causes more destruction to nature and wild life.
- Causes higher prices.
- Causes lower standard of living.
- Destroys wealth.

Anytime you use something significantly faster than it is being replenished, that happens. But I can tell that you didn't read the data showing when it would happen.

I'm intrigued about your fixation. No one here, AFAIK, has proposed any program to do anything about the ongoing global warming. Yet you're obsessed by what you imagine people are thinking.
Take a deep breath, and then consider that the fact of warming climate is entirely separate of what, if anything, there is for us to do about it.
Wouldn't that be a healthy start for you?
