Does anyone else feel overwhelmed by them?

I've decided to stick to a leather sling backpack because it is less overwhelming for me, but I am overwhelmed by things that are not in use, until I need to use them. So now they're all stored in a tote, but I'm just wondering if this is a normal feeling, or something that comes from having to live by necessity through a nomadic upbringing.

Every time I have moved I've had to get rid of everything outside of a backpack and start over. I think I am still adjusting.

It's funny, I always think that I'll pull out a few different colored handbags for my outfits just to be cute but end up usually just using one purse because I grab it and go.

I haven't carried a purse in years. I have a wallet that holds my license and cards and that's all I need.

I always wondered how that worked, because I'm not really a person who will take the time to move things constantly to match my bag. I just don't care at all.

I have some nice name brands that I only use if it feels practical.

I'll do this, too, for grocery shopping, but I need to take
a bag to work sometimes because I'm hiding electronics from a grounded teen.

I don't think its practical. I think people who are paid to look fashionable on social media sell the dream.

1,000%

A hundred years ago, clothes were made to only have a few of and last.

And where is fast fashion leading us...? Nowhere great.

I have worn makeup, a little bit, for years and then last night I had a strange experience where I was kind of reminded years ago up to this day that I kept hearing "don't wear makeup."

I didn't really understand it until last night- at least I think.

It came to me that makeup was man's creation and idealism, but it was not God's creation - it didn't come from himself.

We are all in some way sometimes trying to look like other people and changing our faces, but they're not the faces God gave us.

I feel like God wants his creation to be valued - not man's.

So I begrudgingly threw it out and will stick to castor oil and myrhh.

1 Peter 3:3-6 NIV
[3] Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. [4] Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. [5] For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands, [6] like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.

I think natural beauty looks best. I've worn nothing but a clear lip gloss for years and I feel confident.

If God convicts you on a matter, man's opinion doesnt mean much.

Just don't let yourself get sucked into any fashion culture and you'll avoid the 'baggage' carried by many.
It was not by chance that Jesus was fundamentally a minimalist. His statement not to strain out gnats and swallow camels was born from the refusal to pad himself with what others expected.
I will more than likely be a grandma within a few years. I wore myself out on fashion years ago and learned how to just have everything match so I can think less about it.

The younger women dressing nicely are intuitively being as God designed them to be: pleasing to her husband.

But older men should stay out of the affairs of younger women.

I've never understood the fuss about handbags and shoes that women are supposed to make. I know that you have to find the bag that's just right but you can look at hundreds and not find one you like. mine have usually been bought in charity shops and have served me until they got damaged. But the one i have now is very special and it's the same make as Sophie Duchess of Edinburgh carried at Royal Ascot earlier this year, Many years ago my daughter promised that when she could afford it she would buy me one of these bags and she did for Mothering Sunday last year. It's a plum coloured leather with a long strap, enough pockets and a little Scottie dog logo. I love it and it's the only one I use now. Never seen the point of more than one bag, it's too much hassle to keep changing things over.

It's 1,000 more times more special having been a gift from your daughter, too, I'm sure. :D

I have a leather green one I do like, but it was much larger than expected and now it just holds agendas and planners. If I find a smaller one in the same green but more practical, I would probably use that one.

Mum's need large bags to carry everything, and then when I was working I needed a large bag to carry my drinks, snacks etc and in winter one big enough for hat and gloves and glasses but the one my daughter bought me is just big enough for my phone, specs and other bits.

I have enough purses. My aunt always buys me purses. I have a lot to match my outfits. I use a back pack purse a lot thar my grandma gave me. It's just easier and one can put more stuff in it, especially when traveling.
