Yes, absolutely. It isn't fun, but we can trust God.

1 Peter 1:7
“That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:”

1 Peter 4:12-15
12Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 14If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

Job 23:10
“But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.”

Isaiah 48:10
“Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.”

Psalm 66:10-12
10 For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.
11 Thou broughtest us into the net; thou laidst affliction upon our loins.
12 Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.

Matthias, yeah, for me it was a long stretch where nothing was going right and I had no choice but to lean on God instead of my own plans. Wouldn't have picked it, but I came out softer and a lot less sure of myself, in a good way. Romans 5:3-4 says "we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." Paul isn't saying pain is good, just that God doesn't waste it. Praying anybody going through it right now feels held.
