John 11Like I said on another topic I never did understand why Christians are all so broken up and full of grief when they bury Christians?
wasnt this website christianity board pentecostal owned and operated? perhaps it still is ?,,Angelina said:I went to a funeral in a Catholic Church once and watched two women consume a bottle of wine near the pulpit after they had given out the sacraments. It seemed kinda irreverent to me...
I also been to the Presbyterian, Salvation Army, Anglican, SDA, Primitive Methodist, Open Brethren, Baptist, AOG, Apostolic and other smaller congregations. I like the Pentecostal Churches the best but love the Salvation Armies heart for the lost and downtrodden.... :) but I don't like their uniforms or their bonnet type hats...JMO
John 11
32 Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying to Him, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.”
33 Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled. 34 And He said, “Where have you laid him?”
They said to Him, “Lord, come and see.”
35 Jesus wept.
...because God made us that way...

Go to their web site and tell me what they believe ..Angelina said:Oh...I don't know their doctrine on baptizing people but I like them as people. They have good hearts :)
horsecamp said:salvation army their ADD "has" replced Jesus with a social gospel .
they completly take verses out of context and apply it to there social goals ..
their is every thing right with helping others and every thing wrong with the way their add tries to do that..
we are our brothers keeper but lets not pretend were a good keeper by providing our brothers comfort for only this life ..
our real goal is to provde them Jesus for both this life and the next..
I agree , and they dedicate their lives , and the pay is tinyAngelina said:Oh...I don't know their doctrine on baptizing people but I like them as people. They have good hearts :)
Never said they work for free , but I did say they work for tiny wages .... and by the way , they are paid a monthly salary , and I believe if they are bell ringing in the evenings or playing their band christmas music , they do not get extra pay. This Vale Of Tears said:How does 97 cents out of every dollar go to the poor? Those bell ringers aren't working for free.
Well, unfortunately I've already paid over $600 to charity this Christmas season, so I got nothing left for the SA except maybe a few dollars here and there that everyone else gives at Walmart. And bell ringers aren't employed full time by the SA, it's seasonal work. I know you'd like to hope you get a lot of bang for your buck with the SA, but the truth is, because they cleverly disguised themselves as a religious organization and not a charity, they are exempt from having to fill a Form 990 with the IRS so their operational budget can't be confirmed.Arnie Manitoba said:Never said they work for free , but I did say they work for tiny wages .... and by the way , they are paid a monthly salary , and I believe if they are bell ringing in the evenings or playing their band christmas music , they do not get extra pay.
By the way many of our malls and stores have donation kettles and often our politicians or businessmen will spend weeks of evenings taking care of it .... and they certainly are not being paid , nor are they seeking glory , they appreciate what the Sally Ann does for our poor,
Furthermore , I once asked the same question , how can they pay salaries and expenses if 93 - 97 % of the money goes directly for food and housing for the poor and homeless.
I was privately told that some of the homeless and alcoholic who were helped by the Salvation Army had gone on to become successful wealthy businessmen , community leaders , and even some politicians , and they donate part of their wealth to supply the money for staff wages .
Neat how that works . Thank you Lord
They like to remain anonymous , but if you look close you can spot some of those millionaires volunteering at Salvation Army Kettles in malls and stores around Christmas time.
Every one of us should put $100 in the kettle this year , God will keep us warm and fed all next year.
