I'm Christian, Laestadian type. I'm in my mid-twenties now. At the moment, I work and live in Indonesia (I come from Finland). I don't know many people here, so I thought to socialize a little more online.

Okay so like a Laestadian Lutheran is an OG Lutheran revivalist group that started in 1800s Lapland, with pastor Lars Levi Laestadius. We believe in living clean - no booze, no dancing, and our churches are suuuper community-based. In Finland we're called lestadiolaiset. We are famous for huge families (I have nine brothers and sisters) and keeping faith low-key but serious. As my dad says, we are cottage-core Christianity.Hello to you lina.
I have no idea what 'Laestadian type' means. Could you fill me in please?

Most of the people I know here are from the church I attend or work.Do you mainly socialize in the Christian community
I know some Indonesians from my church, but most of the people I know are Dutch (from my work). Like most Finns I don't talk much, so it's difficult for me to be outgoing and meet new people.or are you able to find friends and colleagues in the general Indonesian population?
First and foremost it would be not speaking Indonesian, though that doesn't affect me much at work because Dutch people tend to speak perfect English. I have an accent but my English is not-so-bad. It's also a bit unusual to me, because almost everyone is Muslim, but they are so used to seeing Europeans/Christians in this town that it's never been an issue. What are the most challenging aspects of your life in Indonesia.

There are Lutheran diocese here in Indonesia, but it's strange being away from home (though I have been out here for five years).
Hi, a warm welcome to you.
Are you in Jakarta? I visited Indonesia in 1988....Yogyakarta, Java and Bali. Beautiful of course.
What kind of work do you do? Have you lived there long?
It was many things together. I love my country, but I think the government is becoming crazy, almost like hurting itself, and more unfriendly to people like me. When I finished my B.S. — I work as a lab tech — I was looking for jobs, and one Dutch student connected me with a company here. The salary is fine, and living here is not expensive.Welcome!
What brought you to Indonesia? (I've been there a couple times scuba diving).
I've been in Indonesia since 2020, I live very close to Jakarta.Maybe you don't want to tell the city you are in...I can understand that.
How long have you lived there? Is evangelism allowed there since it's mainly a Muslim country?
