This hidden away structure in York is thought to be from Anglo Saxon times.

Seven stately homes. The size of these is amazing.

If anybody is wanting to visit historic Great Britain, one place not to be missed is Colchester, about 56 miles north-east of London. Colchester has existed since before the Romans came to Britain. You can still see parts of the walls built by the Romans, the Norman castle, built on the foundations of a Roman temple, and much more. Colchester is the oldest town/city in Great Britain. More details at: Welcome to Visit Colchester

I was blessed to visit the UK in 1976. Did five days in London, then visited Cambridge and Lincoln (briefly), stayed overnights in amazing York, Chester, the Lake District, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and passed through Oxford.

I really enjoyed York and the Lake District. It poured rain while in the Lake District so we didn't get a boat ride but it was still lovely. Loved those very narrow winding alleys in York. Cardiff Wales has a very interesting castle...again was raining hard but it was across the street from the hotel. Hotel had a cat roaming the hallway. Also saw Churchill's grave at Blenheim Palace.

Yes, we do have some beautiful villages here in the UK. The murder mystery series, "Midsomer Murders" features several.
Yes I've seen Midsomer Murders quite a few times. Nice scenery and the stories are light but interesting.

Yes, I like to relax to them. I have probably seen every episode several times, but I invariably notice something new each time I watch.

Have you watched Death In Paradise? Although filmed in the Caribbean, it is a British production and a Brit always plays the Detective Inspector. I liked the first inspector the best but they killed him off!

Yes, I agree with you about Detective Inspector Richard Poole, played by comedian Ben Miller. I also like Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington).
