1 Corinthians 10:13
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

Right here with you brother. What helps me is making sure I have structured time in my weeks and not time to be idle. Try getting involved in some kind of ministry, occupation, or community service where you can exert your physical energy in a useful way. Or use the arts to put the imagination to good use. And of course, continue to get into scripture to wrap the mind around what is beneficial and can give purpose, and being around others who are or were in the same place and are seeking God to make changes in their own lives.

When you feel opposed like this, just remember you're not alone and that most of all Christ is there suffering with you every step of the way.

Easy. Just castrate yourself.

Keep in mind that sex constitutes marriage.

Becoming one with God

(Acts 2:38-39) “You must repent, Peter answeredand every one of you must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for theforgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the HolySpirit. The promise that was made isfor you and your children, and for all those who are far away, for all thosewhom the Lord our God is calling to himself.”

Receivingthe gift of the Holy Spirit.

The gifts of the Holy Spirit are many, but justto name a few.

(1 Corinthians 12:27-30) “Now you together areChrist’s body; but each of you is a different part of it. In the Church, God has given the first placeto apostles, the second to prophets, the third to teachers; after them, miracles, and after them the gift of healing; helpers, good leaders, those withmany languages. Are all of themapostles, or all of them prophets, or all of them teachers? Do all speak strange languages, and allinterpret them?”

The Holy Spirit/Jesus will begin to teach andgive one the grace to live the whole Word of God.

(1 John 2:27) “But you have not lost theanointing that he gave you, and you do not need anyone to teach you, theanointing he gave teaches you everything; you are anointed with truth, not alie, and as it has taught you, so you must stay in him.”

The Holy Spirit needs to teach one, and untilone becomes spiritual and knows God he or she is but an infant in Christ.

Paul explains this in the following verse.

(1 Corinthians 3:1-3) “Brothers, I myself was unableto speak to you as people of the Spirit; I treated you as sensual men, stillinfants in Christ. What I fed you withwas milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it; and indeed, you arestill not ready for it since you are still unspiritual. Isn’t that obvious from all the jealousy andwrangling that there is among you, from the way that you go on behaving likeordinary people?”

A spiritual person will notdeliberately commit a sin.

(Hebrews 10:26-27) “If, after wehave been given knowledge of the truth, we should deliberately commit any sins, then there is no longer any sacrifice for them. There is left only the dreadful prospect of judgment and of thefiery wrath that is to devour your enemies.

(1Corinthians 3:16-16) “Do you notknow that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?If anyone destroys God's temple, God willdestroy that person; for the temple of God, which you are, is holy”

(John 14: 23) “Anyone who lovesme will keep my word and my Father will love him, and we shall come to him andmake a home in him.”

Onewho is a temple of God and deliberately commits a sin is lying to God/HolySpirit. He or she has told God thatthey love him. When that persondeliberately commits a sin he or she is telling God: no I love Satan.

If one deliberately commits sin he or she ismaking the temple of God unclean, it is no longer holy. It then can no longer be the temple ofGod. The temple of God becomes a templeof Satan.

(Acts5:1-11) “There was another man, however, called Ananias.

Theabove verse is too long to include the whole verse.

(1 John 3:8) “He who does what issinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work”

(1 John 5:18) “ We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; theone who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him”

(Romans 6:2-4) “How can we who died to sin yet live in it?

Or areyou unaware that we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into hisdeath? We were indeed buried with him through baptism into death, so that, justas Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too mightlive in newness of life.”

(2 Corinthians 6:15-18) “Whataccord has Christ with Beliar? Or what has a believer in common with anunbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are thetemple of the living God; as God said: "I will live with them and moveamong them, and I will be their God and they shall be my people. Therefore, come forth from them and beseparate," says the Lord, "and touch nothing unclean; then I willreceive you and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughtersto me, says the Lord Almighty."

(1 Corinthians 2:13-14) “Therefore weteach, not in the way in which philosophy is taught, but in the way that theSpirit teaches us: we teach spiritual things spiritually. An unspiritual person is one who does notaccept anything of the Spirit of God he sees it all as nonsense; it is beyondhis understanding because it can only be understood by means of the Spirit.”

To maintain life in one he or she needsspiritual food.

(John 6:53-55) “How can this mangive us his flesh to eat? Theysaid. Jesus replied: ‘I tell you mostsolemnly, if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you will not have life in you. Anyonewho does eat my flesh and drink my blood has eternal life, and I shall raisehim up on the last day.”

(1Cornithians 3:10-18) “According to the grace of God given to me, like a wise master builder I laid afoundation, and another is building upon it. But each one must be careful howhe builds upon it, for no one can lay a foundation other than the one that isthere, namely, Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, the work of each will come tolight, for the Day will disclose it. It will be revealed with fire, and thefire (itself) will test the quality of each one's work. If the work stands thatsomeone built upon the foundation, that person will receive a wage. But ifsomeone's work is burned up, that one will suffer loss; the person will besaved, but only as through fire.”

(Hebrews 10:26-31) “If, after we have been given knowledge of the truth,we should deliberately commit any sins, then there is no longer any sacrificefor them. There is left only thedreadful prospect of judgment and of the fiery wrath that is to devour yourenemies. Anyone who disregards the Lawof Moses is ruthlessly put to death on the word of two witnesses or three; andyou may be sure that anyone who tramples on the Son of God, and who treats theblood of the covenant which sanctified him as if it were not holy, and whoinsults the Spirit of grace, will be condemned to a far severerpunishment. We are all aware whom itwas that said: Vengeance is mine; I will vindicate his people. It is a dreadful thing to fall into thehands of the living God.”

And the apostle Paul gave this advice to young christians in his day:

1Cor7: 8 Now I say to the unmarried persons and the widows, it is well for them that they remain even as I am. 9 But if they do not have self-control, let them marry, for it is better to marry than to be inflamed [with passion]

Its natural to have a sexual desire, but lust is a selfish desire because it is focused purely on oneself and is only interested in satisfying ones own craving. We need to loose our self interest to overcome selfishness. Jesus is a wonderful example of someone who was completely selfless.

and dont look at things designed to arouse lust...such as pornography and sexually explicit television shows etc

That's tough... there's a thin line between appreciating beauty and lusting after flesh... my experience is that accountability with brothers that are real enough and open enough to live in the truth with about the struggle all men face is what helps... the worst thing we can do is pretend to be pure outwardly when we're burning with lust inwardly... so finding a place where you feel safe to live in the light about your inward imperfections is huge... there's been many times where I had to confess to my wife or friends that I slipped up and looked at porn or this or that... satan always tries to make us feel like confession will condemn us but that's a lie... it's the opposite and usually confession helps us to realize we're not alone when the person we confess to ends up telling us they have similar struggles... even David was perving on Bathsheba and he was a man after God's own heart... so if we confess our imperfections God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us... that's His promise... and He's the truth... so just keep living in the truth and I believe the truth will set you free...

Be comforted!

1 Cor 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

1 John 2:1-2 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: (2) And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Hey,

I understand exactly what you are going through, but through Jesus, we not only find forgiveness, but we can overcome it.

Things I find help:

1. Have a wife. (I haven't married yet, but I have had a girlfriend, and that helped ease it. This point is something Paul mentioned in 1Co_7:2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. )
2. Sports. I find that sports take my mind of women.
3. Don't be idle. The saying, 'an idle mind is the devil's workshop' has been proven too many times. Keep yourself busy.
4. Man up mentally. We so often like to say we are tough, but when we come to something which simply begins as a thought, we often fall. Push those thoughts away and focus on something else.
5. Pray. Get close to Jesus. The closer you are to him, the more you will try to avoid sin.
6. Never ever stop trying. Just because you fall once, doesn't mean you have to stay down.

Remember, when you are tempted, that it isn't strengthening you, it is testing what is already there.

I can indeed relate to the issue.
I have been married to my wife for 17 years and love her dearly.
And no, I am not like the guy who says, "I have been faithful to my wife for 25 years...1984 through '87, '89 to '91, '94 to '98...."

But I was honest with her about my struggles even before we were married.
I explained that due to my sexual immorality through high school and college, I have a very difficult time controlling my eyes and memories and thus my temptations.

But I learned that God's Word is blunt and to the point.
When it says, "Resist the devil and he will flee from you" (James 4:7) it is completely accurate.
Easy? No. Doable? Absolutely.
I had to struggle with it daily. Physically turning my head away from women dressed a certain way, avoiding conversations I had willingly been part of in the past, avoiding magazines, music, movies and TV shows where the material (either visual and spoken) was suggestive and/or immoral.

It was especially bad during the summer months in a town with three colleges. When I would go shopping or out to eat or to the mall I found myself struggling to look somehwere - anywhere - other than at what was before my eyes almost constantly.
I literally had to keep telling my self under my breath "Neck up. Neck up. Neck up" when trying not to look.

But through prayer and diligence things turned around.
The devil then started hitting me hard in my thoughts during my idle time or even in the middle of my prayers.

But the name of Jesus has power and I rebuked those thoughts in the His name. They would go and come back and I would rebuke again and they would stay away for awhile then come back when I least expect it.

But over time I have developed the discipline to be able to handle things better. I learned - with Christ's help - to discipline my heart and my eyes.

It is nowhere near as difficult as it was to deal with but I still have to be on guard.

continue to pray about it the lust will eventually go away

Prayer alone won't accomplish it. We must put feet on our prayer. Just as faith without works is dead, prayer without actions is close to useless in most circumstances. Just praying, "God, help me overcome ____" will never actually happen unless we start acting on it. We can pray, "God, heal our land." But it will NEVER happen if we continue to let just a few do the work and we sit behind on our backsides. Prayer MUST be coupled together with action.

Look, trust an old fogy like me; this lust thing is all chemical. As guys we all go through it.....you gotta give yourself a break.....I am not telling you to act on it - just know that God made you with raging hormones because reproduction started much earlier in past centuries. The key is self control - the better you are able to get this fire under control now, the better you will be able to remain faithful to your spouse later. If you think temptation ends when you get married, think again. What I am saying is don't flog yourself over this....it is like every other appetite - don't let it rule you.

Exactly what I've figured out. I'm a fully red-blooded male! My basketball coach put it this way to our team: God made you men, you are filled with testostrene, it's what we where made for. (btw, no, he wasn't talking about women

He was talking about aggression and how to use it.)
