Maybe God was busy?
Jesus died, crucified on a cross. Was God busy then? God knows what is best for each of us. In the case of Jesus - Philippians 2:8-11 WEB:
(8) And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, yes, the death of the cross.
(9) Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name;
(10) that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth,
(11) and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Revelation 5:12 WEB
(12) saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who has been killed to receive the power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing!”
Jesus sacrificed his human life for us, and we are to follow in his footsteps. God is the best judge to know when it is the best time for each of us to die. God is working on His plan for our eternity of life, and we can trust Him. Romans 8:28 WEB:
(28) We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.
1 Corinthians 2:9 KJV:
(9) But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
Romans 12:1 WEB
(1) Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service.
1 Peter 2:19-24 WEB:
(19) For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God.
(20) For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if, when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.
(21) For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps,
(22) who didn’t sin, “neither was deceit found in his mouth.”
(23) Who, when he was cursed, didn’t curse back. When he suffered, didn’t threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously.
(24) He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness; by whose stripes you were healed.
