Scripture please...everyone has their version of what it means....so what does the Bible say?

For a starter, see the below. Washing of regeneration is a clear reference to baptism, and the 2 Cor scripture says "in Christ"; how does one get to be "in Christ"? We're baptized into Christ at which time our sins are removed and we become sinless as is a child at birth, and are added to the body of Christ which is his church (Acts 2:38, 47). Pretty simple.

Titus 3:5

5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

2 Cor 5:17

17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
