Major props for battling this thing out. Don't give up your convictions. I've been through the fight myself. It's rewarding to get to the place where you know you're disciplined enough to only fall out of selfish feelings instead of out of habit. As long as something feels good for a moment, our flesh is drawn to it. Temptation might always remain, but it's just good to find yourself stronger than needing to satisfy that short-lived urge. I'll say a prayer that the Lord will continue to strengthen you.Take care bud

The problem is that even when you realize that it only causes depression, the brief moment of enjoyment it brings will still take over you every time. The urge to do the act is powerful, and not much can match it. It is important to take advantage of what can. 1. The one thing your missing in the opening Post. God, you cannot beat it without him. He is your strength and without him you are weak. I found that drawing a cross on my right hand did the trick. Everytime I had the urge I would look at that hand and concentrate on God until it went away. Run to him when your in trouble. 2. Privacy, The one thing which will stop you every time is when the act becomes public. Masturbation likes to be kept in the dark. exposing it will make the urge weaker ( in theory.) you said you were a frequent masturbater, but would you tell me how many times you did it last week, and what led you to do it. Imagine putting that much light on such a shameable action. and imagine if a christian group got together and discussed there success/ failure when dealing with masturbation, there weaknesses to it and how to put a stop to It. That same group could give you support and advice. give you the determination to stop it,apray for you, and put so much light on the subject that it will lose the strength it has over you. Heck the group could even be online. Not suggesting anything

Stay in the light of scripture. Never stop reading. Soon enough, you'll desire to read the Bible over everything else, and temptation would't bother you (as much).

One thing to disagree with,Temptation will always show up in our lives. It is how we deal with it,and if we say no. I know just because I am reading the bible the devil still try's to take me. Knowing when the devil is,and stopping that temptation and asking God for strength to keep going and drop it all down is what we should do. Keep praying when you have the urge. Sometimes I have felt like telling somebody else helps a lot! God is a great one to tell, for he gives us strength, but I have known from experience having that person who has had the same problem and knows helps a lot.Letsgofishing had a great idea! Start a group, maybe online or at church! But anyhowGod bless and I will pray for you!I had to edit this( I did not see your last thing in parenthesis!) sorry, but still I felt like I needed to say something about temptation

I say, after you read and pray, you're more spiritually stronger, and able to fight and overcome the temptation.
