From my X / Twitter “For you” feed this morning -

“If Christians today could travel back to Golgotha, would we want to watch Jesus die?

We would be witnessing the greatest injustice ever committed by human hands and at the very same moment, the greatest act of love ever accomplished by God.”

How many Christians would use the weapons of the world to try to save Jesus?

It wouldn’t be pleasant. How many Christians would take / make the trip?

So, anyway …

The greatest act of love ever accomplished by God and you have a front row seat to witness it in person.

I’m making the trip.

We would likely end up crucified as well

Possibly.

Did you watch the movie?

I did. I remember how it made me feel (and wondering at the time if Jesus would have been anguished if I had been there and feeling as I did.)

Yes , I took my youth group to see it. It was very moving

Assuming that you and your youth group travelled back to Golgotha, do you think Jesus being aware of those feelings would have helped him, harmed him, or been indifferent to him?

I don't know, it might have helped

I don't know, it might have helped

I’d like to think that it would.

As for me, what I felt would have harmed (grieved) him. That might be another reason that I would go; not to harm (grieve) him but to suffer with him.

What if none of his followers had been there at Golgotha? Can you bear the thought of it?
