2 Tim 4:2-5
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
KJV

We may be suprised to know that most of the church does not adhere to sound doctrine and have heaped up teachers for their itching ears.... yes the fact that we have denominations prove this, because man is not willing to accept all of Christ, we want to pick and choose what parts of the Bread of life they like to feed upon and then they find like minded to form another gospel.

They don't want to eat ALL of the meat of the Passover Lamb as God told us to do. They don't like to hear that God's law is the same yesterday today and forever. They don't want to hear that fornication(sex outside of marriage) is forbidden or that divorce(not taking your vows before God seriously) causes those who claim to be a member of the holy body of Christ to be walking in adultery and those who marry them to stumble as well. They don't want to hear that they are held accountable for their continued life of sin any
longer that Jesus just washed them all away.
They even go so far as to condone killing by saying it is for their country, when we are NOT supposed to be of this world walking in a carnal nature as the lost or agreeing with abortion saying it is MY body when it is really been bought with a price to SAVE SOULS not kill them before they are born into the world, or accepting PRACTICING homosexuals in the body of Christ, even for our minister's
when God said marriage is for the soul purpose of REPRODUCTIVITY/Plenishing the earth which takes 1 man, and 1 woman.
We have allowed our children to worship false idols such as the lie of Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, and mere men whom God gave their talent such as in singing, creating, dancing, acting or any gift to give us a BUSI-NESS to earn our way in life as He gives us the favor of the works of our baskets to be full and every need met.
We worship the creature instead of the Creator of them all!
We participate in the devils scheme's by dressing our little girls is seductive clothing, makeup and hair to ADVERTISE their wares turning them into an object of desire which causes man to sin and then after we do the bidding of the devil to tempt MAN to desire our child's INNOCENCE to defile them... we do not take the blame for tempting them.... we do just as the devil does and Blame them for falling for it!

The hired shepherd is a minister who does not keep the sheep on the STRAIGHT and NARROW path of the Word of truth. He allows them to wander out in the paths of darkenss where they continue in their sinful ways.... just as long as they keep the MONEY COMING IN.
They do not adhere to sound doctrine to show the Love of God for the sheep who FOLLOW Christ/The Word of God money or no money, their SOULS growth come first. That is the good shepherd.... for the good shepherd knows that all the money in the world does not save your soul.... but integrity, good character and sound doctrine brings life and life more abundantly so that you are never in need, sick, diseased, in poverty, debt. You must have persecution for the Word, but God blesses us when we stand strong on His Word IN FAITH for ALL OF IT, not just some of it. Desire to be rich in God's Word inwardly and it will manifest in good fruit outwardly so that you are never in lack, plenty to help others in need... the Blessed life that is hid in Christ!
Blessings,

We need to return to righteousness and holy living! Jesus is looking for pastors, ministers, deacons, elders and just CHRISTIANS to live a life of holy boldness and a firery witness! Our witness should be fire baptized and sanctified! We need God to does His work in us of sanctification and holiness. Only through prayer, the true preaching of the Word of God and consecration will we live up to the standards God has set for us and witness to the world. The main point is the Church is looking to much like the world and that is not right!
"12For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened to the eyes of him with whom we have to do." (Hebrews 4:12)

Yes, Seeking a heart to be able to keep the 10 commandments put in the "Stone" for the Word is the same yesterday today and forever as God never changes. And this work can only be done by God's Spirit and His Word working within us to cleanse us and burn away the flesh man that will be quick to turn and fall from God to gain for himself the world's ways.
To many are looking to the world to be their hand up and not to God who is our provider and our protector. They do not have faith in God or His Word, nor do we know our covenant privilages or the benefits of God. To many do not recognize the mighty works of God and how we are not to be in fear of them or standing in line with those who have no hope in their now and furture because they have no God to provide for them and protect them like God did for the Hebrew children and for those who trust in Him over anything we can see. Jesus asked if he would find faith when he returns but I am afraid christians have taken on the "let's all just get along" mentality mixing prayer with those of idols bringing all religions together for prayer. Saying you pray to your god for help and we shall pray to ours and hopefully one will come through for us... the error is that God Almighty does not share His glory with no gods.. nor does He take pleasure in those who are in such unbelief to gather together with those in idolatry. He used to wink at such, but not anymore! Man considers those who just hand out sandwhiches to the hungry as pleasing God... but our sin goes way deeper than that and it is an internal work that needs to be done.

The OP, which had many valid points, still disturbed me somewhat. I believe it did due to the over all tone of it, which to me sounded angry and accusatory.
Granted there is much sin in the world today, an alarming amount within the Church. But let's look at that passage in Timothy again:

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
(2 Timothy 4:1-5 ESV)

First, we see that God and Christ are to judge. Any sin is an offence against them, not us...so we have no need to be offended, angry or even harsh towards them...indeed any such responses would not be received anyway.

I think that given what this passage says, and taking into consideration all scripture, we must think carefully how we are to respond to the sins of others...be them in the Church or out. We must not ignore them, and we must never turn a blind eye or pretend they do not exist. But knowing the Word of God...Christ himself...his words, actions and deeds...knowing them to be absolute truth and to be as sharp as a double edged sword...we should be able to rely on them and them alone to "reprove and rebuke" others.

Don't just rant about how all everyone's doing is evil and they're on their way to hell....tell them also, lovingly, "patiently" what Jesus has done for them, where He calls them to go, do and be. The gospel is the good news...not the news that we are damned. The Holy Spirit convicts people of their sin, of the hopelessness of a life without Jesus...that is not for us to do. We should only be "sober-minded" as we share the information of the gospel with them...revealing to them the hope, love and grace given to us...praying that the Spirit will use that (and not our angry, indignant preaching of the wrongs of all) to show others the difference between dwelling in the light as opposed to living in the darkness.

We see in scripture first Jesus, and then Paul stand firm against sin. They never waver...they call a spade a spade...being especially harsh against the Pharisees and those who tried to drag religion back into grace. But there is never any doubt that Jesus died for all...and that Paul would have traded place with "his brothers"...all the lost Jews...if only it would have seen them saved.

The point (perhaps a long winded one) is that we should never stand on our soap box, pointing at the masses and yelling their sins at them...as if to hold ourselves up as paragons of sinlessness. No...we should stand up and tell others of our sins, of how Jesus has forgiven us, set us free of them, and continues in our lives daily to bring more hope, joy, love and an ever increasing closeness to Jesus. And that what he has done for us, he can do for them and their sins. This is why Paul calls us to "fulfil our ministry...and to do the work of an Evangelist".
