Here's another scripture that indicates faith has an element of action to it. Jesus says in Mk 11:22

And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.13

This is an imperative that requires action

The imperative mood corresponds to the English imperative, and expresses a command to the hearer to perform a certain action by the order and authority of the one commanding. Thus, Jesus' phrase, "Repent ye, and believe the gospel" (Mk.1:15) is not at all an "invitation," but an absolute command requiring full obedience on the part of all hearers.

People try to dismiss truth by worldly arguments, the wisdom of this world.

Yes Faith here is a noun however an action is required, which is a work

See the word Love is a noun strongs g26 however that doesnt negate that its also an action done by someone Gal 5:14. So when men argue over such semantics its like Paul says 1 Tim 6:4

He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

So if a person says they are saved by God because of their act of believing, they are promoting salvation by works, which is condemned in scripture. See salvation is by grace alone apart from works.14

If we say we are saved because of our obedience to a law or command then consequently we are saved by our merit! Such a claim denies Justification by grace. Rom 3:24

24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:5
Paul is not talking about salvation at all in that passage. Verses 25-26 proves this where Paul begins to talk about Christ being the perfect sacrifice for sins. In verse 24, Paul was simply elaborating on why he stated in verse 20 that nobody can be forgiven by keeping the 10 commandments.
You still advocating salvation by works, totally against scripture.
An actual case of someone teaching works-based salvation is Acts 15:1. The Jews in that situation implied that someone could acquire eternal life by being physically circumcised and not by God's grace.

If a multi-billionaire had 100 homeless people stand in a line and promised $1 million to anyone who raised their hand, is the reward any less a gift if anyone in that line were to raise their hand? No. It would still be a gift because the people who raised their hand didn't do anything to earn the money, and they wouldn't have been able to acquire it without the billionaire giving it to them. They simply met the billionaire's conditions that they had to raise their hand to receive the money.

Biblical salvation works the same way. A person has to receive eternal life by obeying God's instructions, and eternal life would still be a gift because the person cannot acquire it without God giving it to them. This isn't difficult to understand at all.

Hello, I'm new on here. Faith is a work. I know this must be true for Jesus said so,
John 6:28-29 Then they said to Him, What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?
Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent .

Now since believing, the result of God given Faith is a work, that is an act of the mind, the heart and will, if men teach they are saved or justified before God because of their act of believing, while yet unregenerate and in a state of nature, then in essence they're saying that they were saved or justified before God based upon a subjective characteristic that pleased God while yet in the flesh. However the scripture plainly teaches that they which are in the flesh [the unregenerate] cannot please God Rom 8:8

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Faith/Believing pleases God see Heb 11:6

Yes. because they had to meet a condition, thats a work reward concept clearly !

Now if the billionair would have simply applied the moneys to the individuals without conditions, that would be a free gift to them.

We are saved by works. It is an impossibility to be saved without works.
It is Biblical error to teach we are saved without works.
Since faith is a work of God, John 6:28-29.
Faith alone cannot exist, for faith is a work. This is a contradiction in defining faith.
Faith is a commandment, 1John 3 :23-24. This commandment is an action when it is obeyed.
Therefore we are obeying/working the work of God, John 6:28-29, when we obey this command to believe.
We are saved by this work of faith, that is from God,
1 Thessalonians 1:3 remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father.

Yes, I like it, 'your work of faith' reference. By faith we do good works. Ephesians 2 tells us we are saved by Grace, and also God has prepared beforehand good works for us to walk in.

in an interesting sense regarding faith, as James says,
  1. James 2:20
But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?

  2. James 2:26
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

I know that has been explained a number of ways regarding faith vs works.
That your faith is one of God's works is indisputable, as it is the reason you believe in Christ.
John 6
28 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”
29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

And Christ is the author of your faith, and the finisher of your faith, so your faith is a gift. But is always backed up by a good work.
Just by being obedient to the gospel, is a good work of faith, it shows God is at work in you.

A faith that of yourselves without God's purpose and plan is not saving faith, it is an empty fake faith, more of an emotion, a feeling, nothing substantial, backed up nothing, not the work of Christ.
Hebrews 12
New King James Version
The Race of Faith
1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

The whole faith chapter of Hebrews 11, has the saints doing great things, they overcome the world, by their faith.

4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.

5 By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

7 By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

Faithful Abraham
8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. 9 By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; 10 for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

11 By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. 12 Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude—innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.

The Bible does not teach no works salvation, if it does then God played no part in our salvation.
Faith is a work of God, John 6:28-29
Faith saves
Therefore Gods working faith saves.
We are saved by works not by Faith alone.

The wicked servant of the lord did nothing with what he had been entrusted with, out of fear of failure, of losing what his lord had given him to use to improve the kingdom of the Lord, not even giving it to another to see it grow. Out of the man's own words, he was condemned, by the lord.
But it is not my place to judge my fellow servants, who are the servant of another. The truth will appear at the Day of Judgement, when the rewards are given or not given, when the secrets of men are revealed.

Matthew 25
The Parable of the Talents
14 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. 15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. 16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. 17 And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. 19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.

20 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ 21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ 22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

24 “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’

26 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.

29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

Any commandment that God has ordained mankind to do, is a work of God.
And we must obey His commandments, Revelation 22:14
It is by our free moral agency that we obey Gods commandments.
Just as faith is a work of God, so is water baptism.
Colossians 2:12 buried with Him in baptism in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the WORKING OF GOD, who raised Him from the dead.
Gods work is water baptism.
We must work the works of God.
Faith, repentance, confession, baptism are all works of God because He authorizes them.
These works are not from mans ideas but from the mind of God.

The works of God are those God cause to occur, God is not a machine program such as in If , then statements, although we might think that way in human terms as He sometime says. He is in control of all things, and works all things, so that what actually happens is what He determined to happen, and because of sin, and the present evil age, anything can happen.
The reason we are saved is for his own purpose and will, which can not ultimately be resisted.
Romans 9:19 You will say to me then, “Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?”

Romans 8
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

And

Ephesians 1, our particular salvation is a finished work of God, according to His particular calling of us as individuals, according to his particular will and purposes. Anyone who denies this, to them God is impotent, not omnipotent God.

God works all things to the good of those called according to his purpose and will, this can not be denied, or you deny the Father being the all powerful omnipotent Creator having all authority over what He created, and Him executing that authority in the creation, His will prevails over the things that are made.

Ephesians 1
Redemption in Christ
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace 8 which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, 9 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, 10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. 11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.

13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

Believing there is an imperative, a action verb, so a work, it makes my point !

No it doesn't. This is what you wrote upthread.
"So if a person says they are saved by God because of their act of believing, they are promoting salvation by works, which is condemned in scripture. See salvation is by grace alone apart from works."14

You say it is condemned in scripture. I showed you a scripture that says this
"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." Acts 16:31, showing it is not condemned in scripture.

You're a troll, aren't you?
