First it was an earthquake in March that made the angel Moroni atop the Mormon Temple lose his trumpet. I wonder what that meant? That surely meant something. Did you hear about it?

Now it's fire in Utah.

13K residents evacuated as Knolls Fire burns 2,000 acres

UPDATE (Sunday at 8:30 p.m.) –Saratoga Springs issues a declaration of local emergency amid damages and displacement caused by the fire. This decision was made late on Sunday night by the Mayor and the city council of Saratoga Springs.

UPDATE (Sunday at 6:30 p.m.) – 3,100 homes were evacuated as the Knolls Fire, west of Utah Lake, continues to spread. The fire has burned nearly 2,000 acres and displaced 13,000 residents, according to public information officer David Johnson.

Oh I heard of that one, Moroni losing his trumpet, I don't think that was the first time either.

Well, Hurricane Hannah hit Texas and hit it worst in areas already affected with high rates of coronavirus. Coincidence? Maybe, we'll see how bad the hurricane threatening Hawaii gets.

You probably heard about the terrible wind storm that destroyed so much in Iowa. It's taken a week for Trump to act; and he still hasn't approved the whole request for aid.

Trump signs only a portion of Iowa’s disaster relief request

President Donald Trump said Monday he had signed an emergency declaration for Iowa to help supply federal money to help the state recover from an unusual wind storm that struck a week ago but federal emergency management officials later confirmed he had only signed a portion of the request.

Trump claimed on his official presidential Twitter account Monday afternoon that he had “Just approved (and fast) the FULL Emergency Declaration for the Great State of Iowa. They got hit hard by record setting winds.”

Reynolds replied on her personal Twitter account: “Thank you President @realDonaldTrump for your unwavering commitment to the state of Iowa.”

A Federal Emergency Management Agency spokesman said in an email that Trump had approved the public assistance portion of the governor’s request covering 16 counties. That portion of the declaration provides debris removal and repair to government buildings and utilities. He did not, however, approve the individual assistance request for 27 counties that includes $82.7 million for homes destroyed or with major damage and $3.77 billion for agriculture damage to farm land, grain bins and buildings, $100 million for private utilities repair and $45 million for public assistance.

What's he trying to do by being so slow to take action? Lose Iowa in the election? Turn Iowa blue? He couldn't fit Iowa in yesterday being too busy campaigning in Minnesota and Wisconsin. He's supposed to show up in Iowa today.

Iowa derecho: Trump to visit Cedar Rapids, OKs disaster declaration

President Donald Trump approved a major federal disaster declaration for Iowa on Monday, Aug. 17, less than 24 hours after Gov. Kim Reynolds sent him a request that detailed nearly $4 billion needed to assist with recovery from last week's derecho.

The president plans to visit Cedar Rapids on Tuesday to survey damage and meet with state and local officials, a White House official confirmed to the Des Moines Register Monday afternoon.
