Because that is an example of the 'kind'... of question you asked. Like if we don't see a 'direct statement' written about a thing, then it means the matter is not covered in God's Word. That's shallow reasoning, simply because God's Word at times gives metaphors for real things without actually naming the thing. So how can one know what is being talked about in His Word with metaphors that are written, because they are not always explained in detail. Try Isaiah 54 about the barren woman for example.
God's word doesn't say salvation cant be lost.

God's word doesn't say salvation cant be lost.

But it does say heresy is one of the reasons that people are rejected so catholics won't be making the cut.

Catholics should repent of the false doctrine they are peddling and start following the REAL Jesus.... the Jesus of the Bible Who never taught the extra biblical teachings catholics are engaged in.

Sadly the catholic teaches that God's Word is incomplete (as though the Lord forgot to put everything in) and people must go outside of what God says in His Word in order to obtain salvation. They think they know more the the Lord.... which they learned from their father the devil.

But catholic pride is deep and wide as they don't hide the darkness inside.... which is of course why very few of them escape the catholic cult. But thankfully some do.

On the other hand... reformed theology brought forth by the so called protestant reformation isn't any better as they use the Word of God but they twist it to claim it says things God's Word does not actually teach. (Jesus is speaking of anyone teaching false doctrine while claiming to be following Jesus such as the mormons, the JWs, etc.)

IN Matthew 24 Jesus said many will come in His Name and would deceive many.

He's talking about the catholics and those following so called reformed theology as these two groups are the modern day version of the pharisees and sadducees who both claim to be speaking for the Lord but are actually servants of satan and most of these folks are too slow to even know it.

True.

Salvation is Jesus.
Eternal Life is Jesus
Jesus is IN all the born again, and He's not going anywhere.

"well what if i walk away from the Lord".

You can walk to Neptune and Jesus is still inside you, all the way there.

"but what if i lose my faith"......then Jesus is inside you while you have no faith......just like He was since you first believed.

Being born again is a spiritual birth....and you can't end being born, especially the ETERNAL born again that God has caused.

Born again people must remain in Christ.

If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. John 15:6

Here is how we are instructed to remain in Christ.

Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. 1 John 3:24

Here are some good things to avoid doing if you plan to overcome.

  • and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire

He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
Revelation 21:7-8

Making up lies about what Jesus and His Apostles taught us in scripture is a good way to get a one way ticket to the lake of fire.

People who just make random statements and don’t post scripture is the mark of liars and deceivers, who twist the scriptures to their own destruction.

God's word doesn't say salvation cant be lost.

Not in 'direct statement' form like you are suggesting.

But with major examples of falling away and apostasy, yes, God's Word definitely gives warnings about falling away. Try 2 Thess.2:3-4; 1 Cor.11:19; 2 Cor.11:3-4; 1 Tim.1:18-20; 1 Tim.4:1-2; 2 Tim.4:3-4; Titus 1:9-16; Titus 3:10; 2 Peter 2; Jude 4.

I

A Christian remains in Christ the same way they entered into Christ.

A.) By Spiritual birth

Religious people who dont understand God's Salvaiton, try to stay in Christ by works.......which is impossible as you never entered into Christ by works.

Yes, yes it does.

We can disqualify ourselves by turning away from the Lord to walk after the flesh which is going back under condemnation.

The OSAS people falsely claim that even if one is walking after the flesh (living in sin) they are still saved.... that's the false security in sin so called "gospel" that satan has brought in to the church as he teaches people to twist and reject God's Word just like he did with Adam and Eve in the garden of eden.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Romans 8:13
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
(NOT in our own strength - see Philippians 4:13)

2 Peter 2:20
For if after they have escaped the pollution of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

Romans 6:14-16
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Now... watch them reply and say these passages are not for Christians are some other excuse to ignore God's warnings that they got from their father the devil.

‘Again. No scripture to validate what you s…

He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1 John 2:4

Those who say they have eternal life but don’t keep His commandments are liars.

All liars, such as those who, promote false doctrine while blatantly ignoring what Jesus taught will have their part in the lake of fire.

But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” Revelation 21:8

Keeping His commandments are the way of love; loving God and loving His people.

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3

It’s about love. Love on His terms.

His commandments are not burdensome.

And yet Roman Catholicism did not make the scene until the 5th century. And all th epopes from Peter to Gregory the 1st were popized posthumously.
Thank you for that historically-bankrupt response.
Time for e History Lesson . . .

- In his 1st century document, Letter to the Corinthians (95AD) - Clement of Rome issues ruling from Rome to the Church in Corinth. Only a Pope can make such a decree.

- In the 2nd century document, De Pudicitia - Tertullian refers to the Bishop of Rome, Pope Callistus as “Pontifex Maximus” and “Bishop of Bishops”.

- In the 2nd century, Pope Victor settled the matter of the Quartodeciman Controversy and when Easter would be celebrated.

The word ”Pope” isn’t even an official title of the Bishop of Rome. It is simply a term of endearment which means “Papa”. Nobody gets “Popized” – but thank you for that utterly ignorant term . . .

And Jesus explained that phrase which is part of a Passover Seder. No they are not yucky, but wonderful1.

and sorry but osas, sole fide and sola scriptura are what the bible teaches.

But why should we believe things not found in the bible , e3specially when they contradict the clear teaching of Scripture.

Things like the perpetual virginity of Mary, Mary was born sinless and never sinnned, and Mary Queen of Heaven and Purgatory.

I actually pity folks like you, Bread of Life and Marymog. You all believe that jesus did not die and pay the price for all your sins. I know you believe that because you believe you can lose your salvation by sin. But Hebrews 6 and Hebrews 10 tell us IF we could lose lose our salvation, it is impossible again to restore such a one to repentance.
There's a lot thrown out here to think about and discuss, and sorry if I missed details earlier in this conversation, but to take things one by one--

Where in the Bible does it teach "sola" scriptura? (And, just to make sure we have the same definition in mind, I understand "sola scriptura" to be the claim that the Bible is the "sole infallible source of authority for Christian faith and practice")

You can uphold the church fathers as if their writings are infallible if you wish. I'll stick with Scripture. (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
You stick with YOUR interpretation of Scripture (or the interpretation that your Protestant men have taught you) instead of the interpretation of the men who were students of the Apostles..........You crack me up Mailmadman!

Read that highlighted, underlined and in bold printing part: STUDENTS OF THE APOSTLSES! However, you think that YOU are above them...... :jest: Thank you for your time............ I am sorry I wasted mine!

You do know that 2 Tim 3 is meant for pastors/church leaders/elders of the Church? Are YOU a pastor/church leader/elder?

Your ignorance of Scripture is astounding............

@Ronald Nolette doesn't concern himself with Chirstian history NOR Scripture. Rondald only concerns himself (or herself, I don't know how he/she identifies) with what his/her protestant men have taught him.

Ronald N is a waste of your time...........But I appreciate your efforts to reveal the Truth.

Right. In other words, no one (at least no one orthodox) argues that the Church Fathers' writings are infallible or otherwise on par with Sacred Scripture. But they are very helpful sources to understand Sacred Scripture, given that they were much closer in time to Jesus, the Apostles, and the writing of the New Testament; and given that, in many cases, they were part of the same culture as Jesus, the Apostles, and the authors of Sacred Scripture.

So, to understand the Bible, why not look at the Church Fathers; and why not give more weight to their understanding of the Bible than, say, a 16th century reformer, or even a 20th or 21st century commentator?

Were the writings of the church fathers inspired and infallible? NO
Were the writings of John Calvin inspired and infallible? NO
Were the writings of Scripture inspired and infallible? YES.

Agree or disagree
Soooo to answer your question mailmadmen (I know you won't answer mine because of the charlatan that you are).

YES! The writings of the Church Fathers are not infallible, and the writings of John Calvin are not inspired by God and are not infallible!

We agree that the men who wrote Scripture were inspired and infallible! DUH!

So riddle me this mailmadman: why do you follow the teachings of Protestant men (who lived 1,600 years after the death of Christ) and not the men who were students of the Apostles?

You say that you wish to stick to Scripture when in reality you are sticking to YOUR interpretation of Scripture. Can you really not see you hypocrisy? Can you really not see how morainic your statement is?

Curious Mary!

Thank you RomeSweetHome.

Some, such as @mailmandan, believe that the teachings of the Reformers from the 16th century hold more weight than the teachings of the men who actually talked to the Apostles.

It's a BIZARRE position to take and I don't understand it!

Respectfully, Mary

I'm not a follower of luther or calvin... they are both heretics just like the catholics.

None of what the religious organizations teach was taught by Jesus, His Apostles, or the early church.

The Holy Ghost was right where He always is... waiting on someone to take God at His Word and act on it.
Lol Dan.....Soooo the Catholic Church AND Luther AND Calvin et all Protestant teachers were heretics but YOU, Dan clarkston, YOU are not a heretic?

Help me out here Dan! You and only YOU ''teach what was taught by Jesus, His Apostles, or the early church"?

I look forward to your biblical proof!!

john calvin was about as infallible as them popes .
THEY WERENT and they did and they still lead this people to their own destruction .
We have no idea what much and many of these leaders within the entire realm of Christendom
have done and now do . They merge all to be as one under that they say is GOD and what they call is love .
ONLY its the dragon my friend . And by means of a very delusion will lead them as one
to the day of their own wailing and destruction .
FOR JESUS IS NOT GOING to BE DENIED .
And if one even says OH I BELEIVE but then implies it was not necesarry As korans and budda statues are kissed
THAT one will wail louder than one who sat in a false relgion .
Because that one USED THE NAME OF JESUS to promote a false love , a lie . Just saying , we better
have no part in this ecumincal interfaith move .
Lol.....amigo, you have always cracked me up with your 'everyone is infallible except me' postings.

Sooooo if the Catholic Church (the Pope) is not infallible AND John Calvin is not infallible............WHO, in your opinion is not infallible?

(I already know I am going to get a rambling response that says 'scripture is not infallible' or some bizarre statement like that)

I look forward to your Scripture based answer..................Mary
