The human spirit is how we know there is a God after connecting. I think the human spirit is in the heart ..it is what drives/incites the soul/body/mind to behave the way it does.

The TREE of KNOWLEDGE...was the precise tree they were told NOT to EAT of....Once they did...what entered "their" bodys would "pass on to their offspring".

It is become part of every humans "Nature" to "instinctively KNOW"...

WHY did God tell them to NOT EAT of THAT TREE? Simple. While they were in Adult body's, they were new as a baby, without knowledge, experience, history.

TEACH THEM GOOD first...so they are ARMED with the TRUTH....because without doubt, they will be Exposed to conniving, influences.

When God gave us a spirit, He was giving us conviction/incite/will-power to run the soul/body. Original sin caused that good conviction to be dead (carnal).

What happens to the spirit?
What about this? "the spirit shall return unto God who gave it" ..some say it was in a poem, but if it is in the Bible shouldn't we consider it? I don't think the human spirit is identity, so it is free to return to God before a soul goes to hell.

Our original "spirit" is Natural. Natrual truth in our natural heart. Like your name, you learned a natural truth, you know and trust without doubt.
Every time we hear/read, no matter who you are....you are given small measures of FAITH, a gift fromGod FOR being "enlightened" to his word ( you can't unhear what you hear)... it is continuing to hear, your gift of faith is increased...at any time you call say NOPE, had enough don't believe it, and quit hearing....(God does not remove the faith given you...but He does STOP giving that man increases of Faith.). That man is called having "fallen from faith".

Now if a man continues hearing, his faith is increased...Increase, increase. Increase.... a man "hopefully" arrives at a point He is ready to call on the Lord and Confess his belief ...
(Remember, God is giving these measures of faith, to the thoughts of your natural spirit.)

When a man confesses belief....that is when a mans natural heart is circumcised, a new heart, a gods seed given, rebirth of the mans natural spirit (from a mans seed), to a supernatural spirit (from Gods seed)...ie born again....it is the sprit that is born again.

A covenant...is Promises...IF THIS, THEN THAT is "promised"...IF you repent, then you will be forgiven. IF you believe, then you will be save and born again.
You become faithful...God is faithful.

The natural body, soul, natural spirit is all the identity of one man...on their earth.
The Supernatural body (risen in glory,) the soul, the born again spirit....the "wholly whole and holy you"...will receive a NEW name, given you by your heavenly Father....and you will live on a renewed Earth....(void of ocean barriers, mountain barriers, the barrier between heaven and earth).

Was the man a soul, dead or living, before receiving Gods breath? No.
Simply man was a Formed body of dust.
Did the formed body change its form/shape?
No.
Did something Happen on the INSIDE of the mans body (something UNSEEN) ? YES.
How do we know it was INSIDE...?
God Blew "INTO" the mans nostrils, into the man.
Blew WHAT? Gods breath, God is Life, His Spirit, His Breath, IS "HIS" LIFE.
Foreshadowing information...

God IS LIFE.
God Created.
God Gave His Creation, its FIRST GIFT.
It, specifically, a manKIND of thing.
WHAT did Gods GIFT DO?
MADE THE MANKIND of THING....(formed BODY)...ALIVE....MADE "LIVING".

So what do we CALL this ...KIND of created AND made thing?
* Alive Man, terrestrial, earthly, dust, body, form...
* Living Soul,
* first, man, Alive, Adam, he, him, male, husband, son, father, blessed...
....oops, cursed.(must till land),
....Covered,(God covered their flesh/Gen3:21
that did not obey/ later discovered/ called sin)
punished (sent out of Gods Garden)....
Separated from God...(dead to God)

Discovery...Flesh Body is what Disobeys God,

Curse; a negative consequence;

Gods Act; Covering of Flesh Body disobedience

DID God forgive disobedience? Yes
WHY?
Adam...Confessed what he DID

Did Adam take from the forbidden tree? No.
Devil, tricked the weaker... FEMALE.
Did Devil, GIVE to the Female ? No.
FEMALE reached out and TOOK, what Devil said WAS GOOD.
FEMALE ate.
FEMALE Gave to Male.

Foreshadow LESSON..
God taught GOOD.
Devil taught EVIL. (To Disobey, not Trust, not believe God)
Weaker falls for Devils DECEPTION.
Stronger fell for Weakers, FALSE understanding.

Once the Soul is IN the Body, IT becomes subject to the Blessings and Consequences of the BODY.
* Some disagree, the Soul is IN the body, "rather, " teaching the Soul IS the Body.
I disagree... I believe;
The Body IS the Body.
The Soul IS IN the Body.
The Body and Soul...together, IS A LIVING "MAN-KIND" of thing.

I know this is LONG. This is the Basics of HOW, I study. A brief picture. Because, For every new introduced, POINT, I look at the basics (who, what, when, why, where)...and parallel those points to beginning, mid, ending of other scriptures.
Point being for...ORDER and WAY God established.

Flesh Life...is the Body's (man's) Blood

All LIFE IN the souls IS God

All Body's....the LIFE (BLOOD) OF MAN.
MUST DIE.

It is the SOUL, God desires to SAVE "UNTO HIM"... "From Destruction".
How? (Restoration, back to VERY GOOD)
Psalms 23:3....we call Saving the soul.

It is the SPIRIT of man, God desires to MAKE, everlasting, "WITH HIS SEED".
His SEED...(Luke 8:11....Gal 3:16)
New Spirit...(Ezek 18: 31)

It is MAN-Kind of thing, BODY of Flesh, that must FREELY Decided...If he SHALL partake, be a party to....Freely Choose/Elect TO;
Have the soul in his body....Restored/Save.
Have the spirit in his body...born of Gods seed
Receive the Promise of a Glorious everlasting BODY...(risen up from a physically dead body).

If a man freely chooses....NO
If a man Freely makes no Choice...
(He who is not WITH God, IS AGAINST Him)

Gods LIFE will return to Him...

Matt 10:
[28] And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to "destroy both soul and body" in hell.

The SPIRIT, from Gods SEED, will have NEVER been given...the mans "natural spirit ... mans natural truth in his heart....will be destroyed with his body"...

The Carnal mind...flesh body brain
Soul is not the Mind.
Flesh has body parts.
Soul brings those body parts to a living state.
Spirit of man, natural truth in hearts thoughts
Born Again man, receives new heart, seed of God, births man a new spirit in heart. New spirit is Gods Truth...

Gods Truth in a mans new spirit;
Man can listen to, rely on....OR NOT.
Man Can continue to LISTEN to Devious thoughts his Carnal Mind thinks of, and man Can act on his Carnal minds devious thoughts...

God GIVES a converted man....the tools (a new spirit, a new Truth (Gods Truth), and power...to MAKE HIS own MIND, obey HIS NEW SPIRIT in his Heart...
(Then does a man, begin to have A MIND...
In the LIKENESS as Christ.)

And a major point of Jesus coming IN the LIKENESS AS A MAN, was expressly to teach earthly men HOW TO "acceptablely", according to Gods Way, for an earthly man, to BECOME in Gods LIKENESS.
(God does not BECOME an earthly man, and earthly men DO NOT Become God...yet we can BECOME...LIKE HIM....as He became LIKE man...our example, to hear and see and trust to believe.)

And a major point...EVERY earthly man...made for Gods pleasure...failed...
BUT, good news...every man who elects to become 'RESTORED, very good, GOD SHALL MAKE "Perfect, Wholly Whole, Holy, everlasting, AND....
Gods Inheritance.

Again, this is long...yet for me is a brief snippet of how I study, and in my study I cover much more in detail of every point.

Ephesians 2:2-3 "according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience"
Ephesians 6:12 "Spiritual wickedness in high places"

The scripture is identifying Satan! He influences disobedience, but not him alone, he has demons, the fallen angels of which there can be millions.
Satan entered Judas to do his deed. Jesus cast out the demon possessed man who had a legion of demons.
We are born with a dead spirit until God makes it alive, born again. It is like a dead battery in a cell phone. When we are born again, we get an open channel to God and our spiritual blindness is removed. So all of a sudden, we begin to perceive reality through a different pair of lenses. Up until that point, one can be easier to tempt and influence to do the wrong things. This perception you are talking about is how you understand and process information/reality. Christians have a different world view of reality.
Our five senses receive things from the physical realm. But then there is the non-physical, spiritual realm that we receive from.
People talk about the sixth sense, some call it intuition. I guess that is this ability to receive messages in our minds from this realm. These are either from God or from Satan or even from another person. We would be surprised at how many times God warns us of danger, guides us, "You ought to do this or that, or don't do it." Satan is tempting us as well, like a devil on your shoulder whispering in your ear to lead you astray. We get messages from people too. Did you ever start thinking of someone a d then the phone rings and it is that person. Thoughts travel. A husband and wife are one and they can read each other's thoughts without having to speak - sometimes. The closer we are to someone, the more connected and more likely we will have a spiritual connection as We'll, with God, people or with Satan.
People don't realize that all thoughts are not self generated, and that sometimes we are receiving communications from the spiritual realm. Unbelievers are clueless. The ungenerate minds are all like dirty rags. If they get a good idea or make a good decision, they typically think it is from their own creative rational mind that figures it out - sometimes it is, but not always.
But we can't blame all our bad moves on Satan, "He made me do it!" No, we are responsible. He may give us the idea, but we perform the act - unless we are possessed, which is possible. We are sinners. . Hopefully we were taught the difference between good and evil from our parents and church. And if we are written in the Book of Life, God will orchestrate our journey towards that divine appointment.
So I think how you perceive and process reality is greatly influenced by your upbringing, which was already ordained by God, Who also allows Satan to tempt us for a purpose, to ultimately draw us to Himself, sanctify and refine us.
The end game is to be reconciled to God through Jesus. Evil is a necessary part of reality that we must know in order to understand what good is.
So the mature Christian immediately perceives evil and responds correctly to it. The blind have a hard time finding their way.

There is confusion about the spirit. Some think it is the soul but not exactly! If the Word of God, which is sharper than a two-edged sword, can divide soul and spirit, they cannot be the same. However, they are integrated when we are born again. Our new spirit, made in the image of God, is separate in a compartment (like the Most Holy Place in the Old Temple), where God dwells also and where we commune with Him. Our soul is the mind, volition, emotions, personality, whatever talents and salt you are made of, the invisible you. But this soul is also the flesh where sins dwell, also integrated with the body.
So our new spirit is everything that is good about us. It is our pure self that has been washed by the blood of Christ, sealed and sanctified. When we die, spirit and soul separate and we go to the Lord, as purified souls. Another easy way to understand this is that when we die, the garbage is left behind and the good stuff lives forever.
