Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so a 1000 yr reign on this earth is false

Psalm 132

King James Version

This was also a conditional promise of God v12, that David's children would sit on his throne evermore, which they failed to perform.

1 Lord, remember David, and all his afflictions:
2 How he sware unto the Lord, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob;
3 Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;
4 I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,
5 Until I find out a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.
6 Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah: we found it in the fields of the wood.
7 We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.
8 Arise, O Lord, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.
9 Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.
10 For thy servant David's sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.

11 The Lord hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.
12 If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.

13 For the Lord hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.
14 This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.
15 I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.
16 I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
17 There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.
18 His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.

God says He will dwell with His people in Zion, the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, not an earthly place.

The Glorious Company

18 For you have not come [g]to the mountain that may be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and [h]darkness and tempest, 19 and the sound of a trumpet and the voice of words, so that those who heard it begged that the word should not be spoken to them anymore. 20 (For they could not endure what was commanded: “And if so much as a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned [i]or shot with an arrow.” 21 And so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, “I am exceedingly afraid and trembling.”)

22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23 to the [j]general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.

Hear the Heavenly Voice

25 See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven, 26 whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I [k]shake not only the earth, but also heaven.” 27 Now this, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.

28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we [l]may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. 29 For our God is a consuming fire.

Matthew 22

41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David.

43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,

44 The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?

45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

46 And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.

When many read what very very very little of the bible they do read
they see it through the lens of the earthern . They see the israel of GOD as the earthen
they see the city of GOD as the earthen
But that KINGDOM that will last forever , the one that GOD himself says NO evil shall ever enter into it
OH ITS HEAVENLY . ITS HEAVENLY not earthen .
Many see the promises of GOD as pertaining TO the flesh but have no idea that NOT all of Israel ever was
or even will be OF ISRAEL . They will stand with fleshly israel and her peace
And they will FALL as does the rest of this world as they have already fallen for a delusion .
The ISRAEL o GOD , the jew who is a jew , Gots nothing to do with the flesh suit a man was born into .
It has EVERYTHING TO DO with IS HE and HAS HE BEEN BORN AGAIN , HAS FAITH IN JESUS THE CHRIST .
And this gen has zero idea what that even means . SO they will stand supporting the wrong one
And they will fall as will everyone who has failed to COME TO THE ONLY ONE WHO COULD HAVE SAVED THEM will fall .

Another proof, v25 For he must reign at the Father's right hand, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Matthew 22:44 The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
1 Cor 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If Christ departs the Father's side for a 1000 year earthly reign on an earthly throne, and during the 1000 years reign people still die,
God lied.
Proponents of that earthly 1000 years reign of Christ say people are born, age, and die during the millennial reigning of Christ.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1 Cor 15
21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
I agree that Scripture teaches a literal physical visible return of Jesus Christ. But, where does it say that that event will occur "at the Mount of Olives"?
I did not bring this myself on this thread but someone else did however it is described below
The Coming Day of the Lord
Zec 14:1 Behold, a day of the LORD is coming when your plunder will be divided in your presence.
Zec 14:2 For I will gather all the nations for battle against Jerusalem, and the city will be captured, the houses looted, and the women ravished. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be removed from the city.
Zec 14:3 Then the LORD will go out to fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle.
Zec 14:4 On that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half the mountain moving to the north and half to the south.
Zec 14:5 You will flee by My mountain valley, for it will extend to Azal. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with Him.
Zec 14:6 On that day there will be no light, no cold or frost.
Zec 14:7 It will be a day known only to the LORD, without day or night; but when evening comes, there will be light.
Zec 14:8 And on that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half of it toward the Eastern Sea and the other half toward the Western Sea, in summer and winter alike.
Zec 14:9 On that day the LORD will become King over all the earth—the LORD alone, and His name alone.
Zec 14:10 All the land from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem will be turned into a plain, but Jerusalem will be raised up and will remain in her place, from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the First Gate to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the royal winepresses.
Zec 14:11 People will live there, and never again will there be an utter destruction. So Jerusalem will dwell securely.
Acts 2
30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
What throne did Christ sit upon at His Resurrection?
1. David's earthly throne, which had been destroyed more than 500 years previously.
2. David's heavenly throne at the right hand of the Father.
Hint? :laughing:
There's your ERROR above I put in 'red'.
David's throne is NOT in Heaven on the right hand of The Father's Throne.
Your preacher has told you a lie, and you bought it.
I'm going to, um, cut and paste my previous post (#1430)...<smile>...
David's throne ~ where Christ now sits ~ was never a literal chair... <chuckle>... but a position of power and preeminence as king over Israel.
Note: Now, did David have a literal throne? Well yes, probably so, but the Bible never refers to the actual chair he sat in... <chuckles>
....
That's some of the biggest BALDERDASH I have ever heard!
Was David a king?? YES! of course!
Do kings have thrones? YES! of course!
Does God's Word say David had a throne? YES! of course!
Luke 1:31-33
31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call His name JESUS.
32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto Him
the throne of His father David:
33 And He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of His kingdom there shall be no end.
KJV
And WHERE was David's throne? ON EARTH! of course!
And WHERE is Lord Jesus coming to at His future 2nd coming??? TO EARTH, TO THE MOUNT OF OLIVES WHERE HE ASCENDED TO HEAVEN FROM! (Acts 1; Zechariah 14).
Lord Jesus, when He returns, THAT is when He will sit upon David's throne, His inheritance, reigning over the "house of Jacob", ON EARTH.
But the wild backwoods preachers, they've created this Jesus and the Church will be UP IN THE CLOUDS dream picture in their minds because they don't know enough of their Bible to find their way out of a wet paper bag!
It's right here of when is the Day of Judgment, it happens on that Day
His reward is with Him to give to each man according to what he has done.
KJV
And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
v1, and v8
2 Timothy 4
King James Version
1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
There is no proper chronology of the end time events in the verses you proposed. However it is explained somewhat clearly in revelations 19 and 20. I will write you in more detail tomorrow when I have a bit more time and will explain further.
Do you find it interesting that the apostles and Christ never referred to those words of Zechariah although they did use other select OT books in NT scriptures. Since all scripture is God breathed, God had no use for pointing out those things in the New Testament writings.
Meaning to me the relevance is not meaningful to us.
(to Scott Downey) David's throne is NOT in Heaven on the right hand of The Father's Throne. Your preacher has told you a lie, and you bought it.
I think what @Scott Downey is saying, Davy, is that "David's throne" doesn't really have anything to do with David's actual chair, but rather the God ordained position over Israel, which David possessed in the lesser sense (see above) and Jesus possesses ~ now ~ in the Greater (also above, and here intentionally capitalized in order to convey the much greater significance of Jesus's position and Jesus Himself) sense. And if that's what he's saying, he's right.
(to me) That's some of the biggest BALDERDASH I have ever heard!
LOL! You're welcome to your opinion, of course... So you think the Father is going to give the Son a chair. Okay, got it. LOL! No, the Luke passage you cited above is referring to a position of absolute power and preeminence... that of God Himself, as Jesus is God... over God's Israel, His elect. His household... which He is in now, in heaven:
  • ...seated (which is to say far, far more than just sitting in a chair)
  • ...Jesus is at the right hand of the Father (which is to say far, far more than just on God's right; God is spirit, as you know, and is everywhere ~ omni-present ~ so has no right or left hand), and Jesus is in the Father, and the Father in Him, just as Jesus Himself said.
Grace and peace to you.
Who here is interested in teaching from a false Christ?
Seems some love that stuff.
Everything in the scriptures flows from Christ as He is their doctrinal source for faith and practice, and not any man's musings.
God gave the needful wisdom to His apostles to record His word in the scriptures, and none of it is in disagreement with Christ's words.
Anyone who teaches differently from Christ, is one of those many false Christ's the real Jesus warned His people about.
1 Timothy 6
Let as many bondservants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and His doctrine may not be blasphemed. 2 And those who have believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brethren, but rather serve them because those who are benefited are believers and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.
Error and Greed
3 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the [a]doctrine which accords with godliness, 4 he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, 5 [b]useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. [c]From such withdraw yourself.
And if that's what he's saying, he's right.
And I say, those who think David's throne which Christ is to inherit is just a figure of speech show they have not studied their Old Testament, much less the New Testament references to it.
David's throne is not in Jerusalem anymore. It ended there in Jerusalem specifically with Zedekiah, king of Judah, when Nebuchadnezzar destroyed Jerusalem and Solomon's temple and took the "house of Judah" captive to Babylon. David's throne has never... been setup there since, to this day.
However, God promised David there would never fail a man to sit upon David's throne, unto all generations (2 Samuel 7 for one; 1 Kings 8:25 with Solomon repeating the Promise). In God's sight specifically, He promised that to David and to all of his future generations. That means TODAY ALSO.
And that is actually what the Genesis 49:10 prophecy that Jacob gave to Judah for the LAST DAYS is about...
Gen 49:10
10
The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
KJV
The word "sceptre" is about the royal rod or staff given to a king or queen at their coronation. God chose the tribe of Judah to be the king tribe, and all kings from the tribe of Judah were to come from the house of David, from David's bloodline lineage.
The above reveals that royal sceptre king line rule shall not leave the tribe of Judah until Shiloh comes, and then the gathering of the people will be to him (Shiloh, a name put for Lord Jesus Christ).
Now that is not simply about Jesus having already inherited His flesh father David's throne. The Old Testament, just as with Matthew 19:28, reveals Jesus is STILL YET to sit upon David's throne.
Matt 19:28
28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, "That ye which have followed Me,
in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of His glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel."
KJV
Lord Jesus will only literally come to sit upon David's throne when His 12 Apostles also inherit their promised thrones and sit upon them judging the 12 tribes of Israel. Has that happened yet today in the nation of Israel?? No, of course not. So those preachers wrongly teaching that Jesus is already... sitting on David's throne, in Heaven, have gone OUTSIDE what The Bible actually teaches.
Now back to that Genesis 49:10 revelation. That verse means even TODAY... there is to be one of the bloodline house of David sitting upon David's throne, right here, ON EARTH, because God promised that to David unto ALL generations. And unto all generations is how long Genesis 49:10 is pointing to, even declaring that as a prophecy for the "last days" per Genesis 49:1 from Jacob (and thus from God).
There exists prophecy in The Old Testament that point to where David's throne might be here on earth today, and even that its history since king Zedekiah shall suffer 3 overturns. Do you think the majority of today's preachers that only preach The Gospel know about this? Not that many, so that's why many here are not familiar with those Old Testament prophecies either.
Nobody here thinks that. That's just you characterizing it ~ mischaracterizing it ~ as such.
Grace and peace to you.
Right. <smile> That's very true, but that's neither here nor there. <smile>
Even though they point them out <smile> No, they obviously are, but they're actually correct about their... greater... implications. <smile>
Grace and peace to you.
  • ...seated (which is to say far, far more than just sitting in a chair)
  • ...Jesus is at the right hand of the Father (which is to say far, far more than just on God's right; God is spirit, as you know, and is everywhere ~ omni-present ~ so has no right or left hand), and Jesus is in the Father, and the Father in Him, just as Jesus Himself said.
Grace and peace to you.
AND Christ will remain seated there till all His enemies are under His feet.
1 Cor 15
The last enemy to be destroyed is death, which does actually have an end date.
Notice here about DEATH!
  1. Revelation 20:13
    The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.
  2. Revelation 20:14
    Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
He is not departing to rule on an earthly throne, before the resurrection of the just and the unjust and the destruction of DEATH.
Matthew 22
41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, 42 saying, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?”
They said to Him, “The Son of David.”
43 He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying:
44 ‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool”
’?
45 If David then calls Him ‘Lord,’ how is He his Son?” 46 And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him anymore.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hebrews 2:8
You have put all things in subjection under his feet.” For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since DEATH is not destroyed until being cast into the eternal lake of fire, Christ is not departing from the Father's side to rule 1000 years on an earthly throne before the New Earth and New Heavens which comes after the final judgment
And that agrees with the New Jerusalem of Rev 21 When God dwells on the NEW earth with His people.
Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, [a]John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.
4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
Nobody here thinks that. That's just you characterizing it ~ mischaracterizing it ~ as such.
Now, now, now... you didn't finish what I said:
I said:
"And I say, those who think David's throne which Christ is to inherit is just a figure of speech show they have not studied their Old Testament, much less the New Testament references to it."
That's exactly how those who think Jesus is sitting on David's throne already are treating David's throne like, as just a FIGURE OF SPEECH. There is NO Bible verse showing David's throne is in Heaven. So no, I am not mischaracterizing anything.
Yaa-dee-dah-dee-dah!
Here we go again!
Ignore the biblical evidence, run your mouth off, and hurl insults. That is your pattern! That is the basis of your argument.
Hebrews 10 shows the same thing, Christ is not leaving Heaven till all things are under His feet, as in all authority and power are defeated and put down. Confirmation.
God destroys all His enemies, (as in the ones who are not reconciled or reconcilable)
Such as DEATH and SATAN etc...
Hebrews 10 AMPC
10 And in accordance with this will [of God], we have been made holy (consecrated and sanctified) through the offering made once for all of the body of Jesus Christ (the Anointed One).
11 Furthermore, every [human] priest stands [at his altar of service] ministering daily, offering the same sacrifices over and over again, which never are able to strip [from every side of us] the sins [that envelop us] and take them away—
12 Whereas this One [Christ], after He had offered a single sacrifice for our sins [that shall avail] for all time, sat down at the right hand of God,
13 Then to wait until His enemies should be made a stool beneath His feet.
Hebrews 10 KJV
11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
1 Cor 15
19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
Another aspect of these enemies to consider.
Hebrews 10
12 Whereas this One [Christ], after He had offered a single sacrifice for our sins [that shall avail] for all time, sat down at the right hand of God,
13 Then to wait until His enemies should be made a stool beneath His feet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Those who believe in an earthly millennial reign must acknowledge several things, during that time Christ has enemies on the earth.
One is DEATH, but the other is people, not all people according to them are believers during that time. Babies are born grow up and become enemies of Christ. And also Satan is released to deceive the nations and all these people in a vast assembly of enemies come up to Jerusalem to wage war against Christ and His saints.

What God actually says is this though AND IT IS NOT RECONCIABLE WITH TEACHING A 1000 YEAR REIGNING OF CHRIST ON EARTH.
You who believe in this 1000 year reign on earthly throne of Christ are in an error that can not be explained away.
You are in opposition to the truth.

Matthew 22 and other verses say this same thing,

43 He said to them, How is it then that David, under the influence of the [Holy] Spirit, calls Him Lord, saying,

44 The Lord said to My Lord, Sit at My right hand until I put Your enemies under Your feet?

45 If then David thus calls Him Lord, how is He his Son?

Here is your problem, this rebellion and explosive growth of enemies of Christ during such a 1000 year reign.

Rev 20

And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
