Is Jesus God? Yes.
There are numerous evidences for the absolute deity of Jesus Christ in the Bible. The following is a summary of the more important evidences.

Jesus Has the Names of God
Jesus Christ possesses divine names—names that can only be used of God. For example:

Jesus is Yahweh. Yahweh is a very common Hebrew name for God in the Old Testament, occurring over 5,300 times. It is translated Lord (all capitals) in many English translations of the Bible.

We first learn of this name in Exodus 3, where Moses asked God by what name He should be called. God replied to him, “I AM WHO I AM. . . .Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you’ ” (verse 14). Yahweh is basically a shortened form of “I AM WHO I AM” (verse 15). The name conveys the idea of eternal self-existence. Yahweh never came into being at a point in time for He has always existed.

Jesus implicitly ascribed this divine name to himself during a confrontation He had with a group of hostile Jews. He said, “I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM” (John 8:58). Jesus deliberately contrasted the created origin of Abraham—whom the Jews venerated—with His own eternal, uncreated nature as God.

Jesus is Kurios. The New Testament Greek equivalent of the Old Testament Hebrew name Yahweh is Kurios. Used of God, Kurios carries the idea of a sovereign being who exercises absolute authority. The word is translated Lord in English translations of the Bible.

The affirmation that “Jesus is Lord” (Kurios) in the New Testament constitutes a clear affirmation that Jesus is Yahweh.
To an early Christian accustomed to reading the Old Testament, the word Lord, when used of Jesus, would point to His identification with the God of the Old Testament (Yahweh). Hence, the affirmation that “Jesus is Lord” (Kurios) in the New Testament constitutes a clear affirmation that Jesus is Yahweh, as is the case in passages like Romans 10:9, 1 Corinthians 12:3, and Philippians 2:5–11.

Jesus is Elohim. Elohim is a Hebrew name that is used of God 2,570 times in the Old Testament. The name literally means “strong one,” and its plural ending (im in Hebrew) indicates fullness of power. Elohim is portrayed in the Old Testament as the powerful and sovereign governor of the universe, ruling over the affairs of humankind.

Jesus is recognized as both Yahweh and Elohim in the prophecy in Isaiah 40:3: “Prepare the way of the Lord [Yahweh]; make straight in the desert a highway for our God [Elohim].” This verse was written in reference to John the Baptist preparing for the coming of Christ (as confirmed in John 1:23) and represents one of the strongest affirmations of Christ’s deity in the Old Testament. In Isaiah 9:6, we likewise read a prophecy of Christ with a singular variant (El) of Elohim: “And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God [El], Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Jesus is Theos. The New Testament Greek word for God, Theos, is the corresponding parallel to the Old Testament Hebrew term Elohim. A well-known example of Christ being addressed as God (Theos) is found in the story of “doubting Thomas” in John 20. In this passage, Thomas witnesses the resurrected Christ and worshipfully responds: “My Lord and my God [Theos]” (John 20:28).

Jesus is called Theos throughout the rest of the New Testament. For example, when a jailer asked Paul and Silas how to be saved, they responded: “Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household” (Acts 16:31). After the jailer believed and became saved, he “rejoiced, having believed in God [Theos] with all his household” (verse 34). Believing in Christ and believing in God are seen as identical acts.

Jesus Possesses the Attributes of God
Jesus possesses attributes that belong only to God.

Jesus is eternal. John 1:1 affirms: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” The word was in this verse is an imperfect tense, indicating continuous, ongoing existence. When the timespace universe came into being, Christ already existed (Hebrews 1:8–11).

Jesus is self-existent. As the Creator of all things (John 1:3; Colossians 1:16; Hebrews 1:2), Christ himself must be uncreated. Colossians 1:17 tells us that Christ is “before all things, and in Him all things consist.”

Jesus is everywhere-present. Christ promised His disciples, “Where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20). Since people all over the world gather in Christ’s name, the only way He could be present with them all is if He is truly omnipresent (see Matthew 28:20; Ephesians 1:23, 4:10; Colossians 3:11).

Jesus is all-knowing. Jesus knew where the fish were in the water (Luke 5:4, 6; John 21:6–11), and He knew just which fish contained the coin (Matthew 17:27). He knew the future (John 11:11, 18:4), specific details that would be encountered (Matthew 21:2–4), and knew from a distance that Lazarus had died (John 11:14). He also knows the Father as the Father knows Him (Matthew 11:27; John 7:29, 8:55, 10:15, 17:25).

Jesus is all-powerful. Christ created the entire universe (John 1:3; Colossians 1:16; Hebrews 1:2) and sustains the universe by His own power (Colossians 1:17; Hebrews 1:3). During His earthly ministry, He exercised power over nature (Luke 8:25), physical diseases (Mark 1:29–31), demonic spirits (Mark 1:32–34), and even death (John 11:1–44).

Jesus is sovereign. Christ presently sits at the right hand of God the Father, “angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him” (1 Peter 3:22). When Christ comes again in glory, He will be adorned with a majestic robe, and on the thigh section of the robe will be the words, “KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS” (Revelation 19:16).

Jesus is sinless. Jesus challenged Jewish leaders: “Which of you convicts Me of sin?” (John 8:46). The apostle Paul referred to Jesus as “Him who knew no sin” (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus is one who “loved righteousness and hated lawlessness” (Hebrews 1:9), was “without sin” (Hebrews 4:15), and was “holy, harmless, [and] undefiled” (Hebrews 7:26).

Jesus Possesses the Authority of God
Jesus always spoke in His own divine authority. He never said, “Thus saith the Lord” as did the prophets; He always said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you. . . .” He never retracted anything He said, never guessed or spoke with uncertainty, never made revisions, never contradicted himself, and never apologized for what He said. He even asserted, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away” (Mark 13:31), hence elevating His words directly to the realm of heaven.

Jesus Performs the Works of God
Jesus’ deity is also proved by His miracles. His miracles are often called “signs” in the New Testament. Signs always signify something—in this case, that Jesus is the divine Messiah.

Some of Jesus’ more notable miracles include turning water into wine (John 2:7–8); walking on the sea (Matthew 14:25; Mark 6:48; John 6:19); calming a stormy sea (Matthew 8:26; Mark 4:39; Luke 8:24); feeding 5,000 men and their families (Matthew 14:19; Mark 6:41; Luke 9:16; John 6:11); raising Lazarus from the dead (John 11:43–44); and causing the disciples to catch a great number of fish (Luke 5:5–6).

Jesus Is Worshiped as God
Jesus was worshiped on many occasions in the New Testament. He accepted worship from Thomas (John 20:28), the angels (Hebrews 1:6), some wise men (Matthew 2:11), a leper (Matthew 8:2), a ruler (Matthew 9:18), a blind man (John 9:38), an anonymous woman (Matthew 15:25), Mary Magdalene (Matthew 28:9), and the disciples (Matthew 28:17).

Scripture is emphatic that only God can be worshiped (Exodus 34:14; Deuteronomy 6:13; Matthew 4:10). In view of this, the fact that both humans and angels worshiped Jesus on numerous occasions shows He is God.

Old Testament Parallels Prove Jesus Is God
A comparison of the Old and New Testaments provides powerful testimony to Jesus’s identity as God. For example, a study of the Old Testament indicates that it is only God who saves. In Isaiah 43:11, God asserts: “I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no savior.” This verse indicates that (1) a claim to be Savior is, in itself, a claim to deity; and (2) there is only one Savior—the Lord God. It is thus highly revealing of Christ’s divine nature that the New Testament refers to Jesus as “our great God and Savior” (Titus 2:13).

Likewise, God asserted in Isaiah 44:24: “I am the Lord, who makes all things, who stretches out the heavens all alone, who spreads abroad the earth by Myself” (emphasis added). The fact that God alone “makes all things” (Isaiah 44:24)—and the accompanying fact that Christ is claimed to be the Creator of “all things” (John 1:3; Colossians 1:16; Hebrews 1:2)—proves that Christ is truly God.

Preincarnate Appearances of Christ
Many theologians believe that appearances of the “angel of the Lord” (or, more literally, “angel of Yahweh”) in Old Testament times were preincarnate appearances of Jesus Christ. (The word preincarnate means “before becoming a human being.”) There are a number of evidences for this view:

Powerful and concise evidence for the deity of Christ. 97% of Christianity believe this ... I just don't think the rest will conform to this realization no matter what evidence is presented. There is a barrier, a mental block.
The Holy Spirit reveals truth, why not to them? Could it be as basic and simple that they have not been baptized into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit? I know the JW's are not. The fact that they do not believe the Holy Spirit is a person, is reason for the Holy Spirit not to have a relationship with them - THEREFORE , spiritual discernment, the whole truth, is not received either. Likely the other non- trinitarian religions are not baptized by the Holy Spirit either. He would reveal all this truth to them if they were. And this is serious, since being "born again" is to be made a new creature accompanied by the indwelling Spirit of God.
I do believe they will be saved once they are enlightened. The Lord is merciful though, He cuddles them as they are believers in Christ, attached to the Vine; but are branches though alive, producing little fruit ... just not growing as they could and not giving the honor and worship to Christ/ God as they should.
They will know when they see Him and they will bow and worship Him.

many have well said they beleive JESUS is GOD .
you know what i find so startling, THEY SURE DONT TREAT HIS WORDS as though HE WERE GOD .
People coming after a man who
simply told an unbeliever that GOD IS LOVE , THAT GOD DESIRES NONE TO PERISH
so that IS WHY HE SENT the SON so that all who do beleive in HIM would not PERISH but have everlasting life .
AND YET some folks called that BIBLE bashing . imagine that , preaching the gospel is now even called
BIBLE bashing . WE BETTER BIBLE UP friend . BIG TIME , cause rick warrnes seeker friendly evangelism
WAS FALSE and meant to do one thing , SHUT DOWN THE TRUE PREACHING OF THE GOSPEL TO THE LOST .

Man did you say a good truth my friend . We sure are in the last days and we had better stay strong in Christ .
SO what on earth makes folks believe we need to SHUT UP about preaching JESUS to the lost
and rather just work on getting along and that it might even take TWO or three years before we can finally witness to them .
WHAT KIND OF DUNG IS THAT . we know not if a man even has tomorrow . let alone two or three years .
I GOT SHUT DOWN johann on a site for correcting and reminding us all of the dire need to point these lost souls to JESUS .
yeah , explain that line of logic . Seeker friendly was RIGHT OUT of the bowels of satan .
AS THOUGH any man has the guarnatee of even a day left . WE need to get back to preaching JESUS to the lost

Many theologians believe that appearances of the “angel of the Lord” (or, more literally, “angel of Yahweh”) in Old Testament times were preincarnate appearances of Jesus Christ. (The word preincarnate means “before becoming a human being.”) There are a number of evidences for this view:

Jesus is Yahweh.

I don't think the title of this thread is phrased accurately.

Names are identifiers for Persons. Wouldn't it be more aligned with the biblical narrative to say that "YHWH" is the personal Name that the Father uses to identify Himself?

15 God, furthermore, said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘יהוה, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations.

"YHWH" is name of the Father. "Jesus" is the name of the Son. (Does the Holy Spirit have a personal name?) Remember what Trinitarian theology actually says: They are NOT the same "Person" biblically.

many have well said they beleive JESUS is GOD .
you know what i find so startling, THEY SURE DONT TREAT HIS WORDS as though HE WERE GOD .
For me the shocker is when someone insists Jesus has a sin nature. And could sin though he chose not to.
Wow.

Thank you, @TLHKAJ! I’ve bookmarked it. I deeply appreciate the time and effort you put into looking this up-truly grateful.

Below are scripture references on Ani Hu, and while many hesitate to declare that Yeshua is YHWH, I am not among them.

Isaiah and the "Ani Hu" Formula
The phrase אֲנִי הוּא (Ani Hu) in the Hebrew Scriptures serves as a divine self-declaration of YHWH’s absolute existence and sovereignty. Key passages where this phrase appears include:

Isaiah 41:4
"Who has performed and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I, YHWH, am He (אֲנִי־הוּא), the first and the last; I am He."

Isa 41:4 Who hath wrought and done it, calling forth the dorot from the beginning? I Hashem, the Rishon (First), and with the Acharonim (Last ones); I am He.

Isaiah 43:10-11
"You are My witnesses," declares YHWH, "and My servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He (אֲנִי הוּא). Before Me there was no god formed, nor will there be one after Me. I, I am YHWH, and besides Me, there is no savior."

Isa 43:10 Ye are My edim (witnesses), saith Hashem. And Avdi whom I have chosen; so that ye may know and believe Me, and understand that Ani Hu (I am He); before Me there was no El formed, neither shall there be after Me.
Isa 43:11 I, even I, am Hashem; and apart from Me there is no Moshi’a.
Isa 43:12 I have declared, and have saved, and I have proclaimed, when there was no zar (foreign) [g-d] among you; therefore you [plural] are My edim (witnesses), saith Hashem, that I am El.
Isa 43:13 Yes, before the yom was, Ani Hu (I am He); and there is none that can deliver out of My Yad; I work, and who shall reverse it?

Isaiah 46:9-10
"For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done."

Isa 46:9 Remember the rishonot (former things) me'olam (of old); for I am El (G-d), and there is not another [G-d]; Elohim, and there is none like Me.
Isa 46:10 Making known acharim (end-times things) from reshit (the beginning), and mikedem (from ancient times) the things that have not yet happened, saying, My etza (counsel, purpose, plan) shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure;

In these passages, Ani Hu functions as a declaration of God’s eternal existence, uniqueness, and redemptive power. It underscores YHWH's unparalleled deity and His role as both Creator and Redeemer.

Jesus’ Use of Ego Eimi in John

In the Gospel of John, Jesus uses ἐγώ εἰμι (ego eimi) in ways that unmistakably echo the Ani Hu formula of Isaiah, linking His identity with YHWH.

John 8:24
"Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am (ἐγώ εἰμι), you will die in your sins."

Joh 8:24 I said, therefore, to you that you will go to your mavet in your averos (sins), for if you do not have emunah (faith) that Ani Hu [YESHAYAH 41:4; SHEMOT 3:14-16], you will die in your chatta'im.

This parallels Isaiah 43:10, where YHWH declares, "so that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He."

John 8:58
"Before Abraham was, I am (ἐγώ εἰμι)."

Joh 8:58 Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach said to them, Omein, omein, I say to you, before Avraham came into being, Ani Hu. [SHEMOT 3:4; 6:3; YESHAYAH 41:4; 43:10,13]

This statement goes beyond temporal existence, claiming eternality, which aligns with YHWH's self-revelation as the eternal "I Am" in passages like Isaiah 41:4 and Exodus 3:14 (LXX: Ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ὤν).

John 13:19
"Now I tell you before it happens, so that when it happens, you may believe that I am (ἐγώ εἰμι)."

Joh 13:19 From now on I tell you before the occurrence that you may have emunah (faith) when it occurs, that Ani Hu. [YESHAYAH 41:4; 46:10; 43:10]
Joh 13:20 Omein, omein, I say to you, the one receiving whomever I may send receives me, and the one receiving me [Moshiach], receives the One having sent me [Hashem].

This closely mirrors Isaiah 43:10, where YHWH’s foreknowledge and omnipotence affirm His identity.

John 18:5-6
"They answered Him, 'Jesus the Nazarene.' He said to them, 'I am (ἐγώ εἰμι).'... When He said to them, 'I am,' they drew back and fell to the ground."

Joh 18:5 They said in reply, Yehoshua, the one from Natzeret. Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach says to them, Ani Hu. Now also Yehuda, the one betraying him, had stood with them.
Joh 18:6 When therefore Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach told them, Ani Hu, they recoiled and fell to the ground.

The sheer power of this declaration evokes YHWH’s divine authority, as seen in Isaiah’s descriptions of God’s overwhelming majesty.

Theological Implication: Jesus as YHWH of Isaiah

The repeated use of ἐγώ εἰμι by Jesus is not accidental but deliberate, drawing upon Isaiah’s Ani Hu declarations to reveal His divine identity. By using the same language, Jesus:

Affirms His eternal existence, consistent with YHWH’s claim, "I am the first and the last."

Declares His role as Savior, reflecting Isaiah 43:11, "I, even I, am YHWH, and there is no savior besides Me."

Establishes His authority as the one who fulfills YHWH’s promises, performing acts that only God can do (e.g., forgiving sins, commanding nature, raising the dead).

God bless sister.

Johann.

Wow.
Go to and behold the land of christendom .
And then remember what was foretold by GOD to MOSES
that would come upon the children of Israel , they would go a whoring
That which later was warned would come upon and within the church ,
HAS SO COME TO PASS and will get only worse and worse during
these final moments upon earth .
All one can do is warn and weep and weep and warn . To remind
all of the very truth most no longer know , and that most within the realm of christendom
has went the way that Israel went RIGHT BEFORE GOD CRUSHED IT flat and had cried
YE have become as SODOM unto me , you no longer even HIDE your sins
you celebrate them in the streets . And though the interfaith prophets of anti christ
cry and bring the solutoin of anti christ for peace n safety , THEY WILL NEVER ATTAIN peace n safety
FOR A LIE that does OUTRIGHT DENY GOD , CHRIST , has been given and the religoins now merge as one
And those who profess to even know CHRIST have bought into the lie that will grave them all .

The video is a fraudulent deception. The quack behind the podium makes all kinds of assumptions and creates dangerous strawmen that are so ridiculous.

And predictably he goes to John 1 and forces Jesus into the first verse, as all false preachers alive today do. And after all the thrill of it they have not proven a thing because Jesus is not God and Jesus is not addressed there. They just come out and state it as fact...

This video is based not on persuasive arguments at all. He actually lies a lot. And above all he replaced the Father God with his Son, as many love to do on this site I've observed. It caters to them and appeals to the ones that like of love it.

He says, because of the title given to the Messiah, the Son of God, he has the same authority as God, because he is God. Wow! I guess he has not understood from scripture yet that The Father God uses agents, he works his agency through other angels and people, and his Son is no different. The one as the agent represents the real one God in all matters.

Now this awful trend is relatively new, this replacement of God with his son, especially in the OT. It started about 45 years ago because the Trinity was losing much ground and becoming less popular. Once this runs it course, and it will very soon, I wonder what new false claim and insertion will be believed for the next gullible generation, that maybe God the Father is really the Son....and the Father then is actually deleted for any Biblical discussion....

And J, you calling the Son, YHWH is blasphemy by taking advantage of using the translators huge mistake resulting in the restricted 'Lord' designation in the NT. You do not even see a 'lord' for Christ, or the LORD for YHWH. Incredible why they have not fixed this yet.

Where again, YHWH was consistently replaced with the Greek word “Kyrios” (Lord). This tradition was followed by the New Testament writers, who used “Kyrios” when quoting the Old Testament, even though they likely knew the correct pronunciation of YHWH!! And then every place you see term Lord you then say it refers to Christ, as he is also called Lord, as there's no differentiation, so you then conveniently conclude Christ is YHWH, out of a gross technicality and huge mistake in translations. And you must know then you are deliberately misleading others as well as yourself.

And then to call the created Son of God the source of creation of the old Genesis and the new one, as/in himself of the first, of the new creation of the second Genesis, is also blasphemous!

I just hope viewers of this thread can truly discern that this is spiritual snake oil and poison and J. you are immersed deeply into it.

@Johann ..and let me clearly show you more of your errors in your OP. I will not go through them all......

you said..."We first learn of this name in Exodus 3, where Moses asked God by what name He should be called. Yahweh never came into being at a point in time for He has always existed."

You are preaching falsely, again...let me straighten out that crooked back of yours....again

It's formally and clearly written to avoid any loop holes you love to find so to divert away for the truth of the matter.

The phrase “YHWH” does not directly translate to “I AM WHO I AM.” In the Book of Exodus, when Moses asks God for His name, God responds with “Ehyeh asher Ehyeh,” which can be translated as “I will be what I will be” or “I am who I am.” The name YHWH (often rendered as Yahweh or Jehovah in English) is closely related to the Hebrew word “to be” or “to exist,” but it is not the same as the phrase “I AM WHO I AM.”

The name YHWH is considered sacred in the original form of Judaism, and it is not spoken aloud. Instead, the name Adonai, meaning “Lord,” is used when reading aloud. The phrase “I AM WHO I AM” is a translation of the Hebrew “Ehyeh asher Ehyeh” and is used to convey God’s eternal and self-existent nature, emphasizing His omnipotence and omnipresence.

In summary, while YHWH is related to the concept of being or existence, it is not equivalent to the phrase “I AM WHO I AM,” which is a specific translation of the divine response given to Moses.

And the Son of God isn't it either. He is the created Son for God's purpose, and in turn ours. And the Son is not the I AM who I AM either...laughable if it was not so serious for ones salvation!

Isa 41:4 Who hath wrought and done it, calling forth the dorot from the beginning? I Hashem, the Rishon (First), and with the Acharonim (Last ones); I am He.

Isaiah 43:10
"You are My witnesses," declares YHWH, "and My servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He (Ani Hu). Before Me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after Me."
Isa 43:10 Ye are My edim (witnesses), saith Hashem. And Avdi whom I have chosen; so that ye may know and believe Me, and understand that Ani Hu (I am He); before Me there was no El formed, neither shall there be after Me.

Isa 43:13 Yes, before the yom was, Ani Hu (I am He); and there is none that can deliver out of My Yad; I work, and who shall reverse it?

Isaiah 43:13
"Even from eternity, I am He (Ani Hu), and there is none who can deliver out of My hand; I act, and who can reverse it?"

Isaiah 46:4
"Even to your old age, I am He (Ani Hu), and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save."

Isaiah 48:12
"Listen to Me, O Jacob, and Israel, whom I called! I am He (Ani Hu); I am the first, and I am the last."

Jesus' Use of "Ego Eimi" in the New Testament

The Greek phrase ἐγώ εἰμι ("Ego Eimi") is the Septuagint equivalent of "Ani Hu."

In key instances, Jesus uses this phrase to identify Himself, often in ways that parallel the self-revelation of YHWH in the Hebrew Scriptures:

John 8:24
"Unless you believe that I am He (ἐγώ εἰμι), you will die in your sins."

This echoes Isaiah 43:10, where belief in "Ani Hu" is tied to knowing YHWH.

John 8:28
"When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He (ἐγώ εἰμι)."

Similar to Isaiah 43:13, where YHWH declares His unique identity in acts of salvation.

John 8:58
"Before Abraham was, I am (ἐγώ εἰμι)."

Jesus’ statement here mirrors YHWH’s self-identification in Exodus 3:14 ("I AM WHO I AM"), affirming His eternal existence.

John 13:19
"From now on I am telling you before it happens, so that when it does happen, you may believe that I am He (ἐγώ εἰμι)."

This reflects Isaiah 46:9-10, where YHWH declares His ability to foretell the future as evidence of His deity.

Mark 14:62
"I am (ἐγώ εἰμι), and you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven."

This response during Jesus’ trial combines divine self-identification with the imagery of Daniel 7:13-14.

Matthew 14:27 / Mark 6:50 / John 6:20
"Take courage; I am (ἐγώ εἰμι), do not be afraid."

These statements echo YHWH's comforting declarations in passages like Isaiah 41:10.

Scholarly Perspectives on Ani Hu and Ego Eimi

Anthony Rogers:
Rogers highlights the significance of "Ani Hu" in the Hebrew Scriptures as a declaration of YHWH’s exclusive divinity and sovereignty. He argues that when Jesus uses "Ego Eimi," especially in contexts like John 8:58, He unmistakably identifies Himself with the God of Israel. Rogers points out that the surrounding Jewish audience understood these claims as blasphemous unless Jesus truly was YHWH, as evidenced by their reaction (e.g., John 8:59, where they pick up stones to kill Him).

Richard Bauckham:
In Jesus and the God of Israel, Bauckham asserts that Jesus’ use of "Ego Eimi" directly links Him to YHWH’s self-revelation in Isaiah. Bauckham contends that the Gospel of John intentionally presents Jesus as participating in the unique identity of the one true God.

C.K. Barrett:
Barrett notes that the "Ego Eimi" sayings of Jesus in John’s Gospel are not mere self-identifications but theological claims of divine status. He underscores their parallels to Isaiah’s use of "Ani Hu," where YHWH declares His uniqueness and supremacy.

Craig Keener:
Keener, in his Commentary on the Gospel of John, explains that the repeated use of "Ego Eimi" by Jesus would have resonated with Jewish audiences familiar with the Septuagint. He argues that Jesus’ claims transcend the role of a prophet or agent, directly affirming His divine nature.

Daniel B. Wallace:
Wallace emphasizes that the Greek construction ἐγώ εἰμι often carries emphatic significance. In contexts like John 8:58, the lack of a predicate nominative suggests a timeless, absolute self-existence, aligning Jesus with YHWH’s declaration in Exodus 3:14 and Isaiah’s "Ani Hu."

N.T. Wright:
Wright acknowledges that Jesus’ claims to deity, particularly in the "Ego Eimi" statements, reflect a conscious identification with Israel’s God. He points out that these declarations place Jesus squarely within the framework of Jewish monotheism while redefining its boundaries to include the Son.

Key Cross-References
Exodus 3:14: "I AM WHO I AM" (Hebrew: Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh), foundational to the divine self-revelation.

Isaiah 41:10 / 43:1-2: YHWH’s comforting promises that echo Jesus’ words in John 6:20.

Daniel 7:13-14: The Son of Man imagery combined with divine authority, as seen in Mark 14:62.

Revelation 1:8, 17-18: Jesus' declarations of being the "Alpha and Omega," echoing Isaiah 41:4 and 48:12.

Enjoy your day.

Ok Taken, you typically list this scripture, however do you really understand them?

Can you attempt to expand on say Isaiah 9:6 for example and clearly say how this verse means the Christ is YHWH? Take your time, because I believe it's a quite impossible task, really!

And if you cannot do it with that one, then go to the next one and the next one....I await then your understanding and reasoning of them

Your view of Yeshua HaMashiach reflects a significantly diminished Christology.
What a piece of work you are, having no courage to write and answer my posts, in your own words as usual. You respond like a robot reply on the phone.

So you think you know something by stating in Hebrew the Son of God.

So, let me tell the audience what you just wrote, that might make you think you know something...and you don't of course.

Yeshua HaMashiach is a Hebrew term that means “Jesus the Messiah” or “Jesus Christ.” The word “Yeshua” translates to “salvation,” and “HaMashiach” means “the anointed one.” In Christianity, Yeshua HaMashiach refers to Jesus as the one chosen by God to bring salvation to the world, fulfilling the prophecies of the Old Testament. This term highlights Jesus’ role as both the Savior and the long-awaited Messiah of Israel.

Will the real J. please stand up for God's sake! Stop hiding away in your confusion of sources you bring that I guess you work so tireless without any success to force and make the man Jesus, God. Keep it up. it's not working....

Try as you may--

The Phrase אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה in Exodus 3:14

When God reveals Himself to Moses at the burning bush, He declares:
אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה (Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh), often translated as "I AM WHO I AM" or "I WILL BE WHO I WILL BE." This phrase serves as an explicit self-identification of God and is directly connected to His covenant name יהוה (YHWH).

אֶהְיֶה (Ehyeh):

First-person singular, imperfect tense of the verb היה (Hayah), meaning "to be" or "to exist."

It can signify "I am," "I will be," or "I shall become," indicating God's eternal existence, self-sufficiency, and dynamic presence.
אֲשֶׁר (Asher):

A relative pronoun meaning "who," "that," or "which."
אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה:

Common translations:
"I AM WHO I AM"
"I WILL BE WHO I WILL BE"
"I AM THAT I AM"

This expresses God’s unchanging, self-existent, and eternal nature.

Link Between אֶהְיֶה and יהוה (YHWH):

In Exodus 3:15, immediately after revealing "Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh," God declares:

“Say to the children of Israel, ‘יְהוָה (YHWH), the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’”

The name יהוה (YHWH) is derived from the same root as אֶהְיֶה (Ehyeh), emphasizing God’s eternal and self-sufficient being.
YHWH is often rendered as “LORD” (in small caps) in most English translations.

Cross-References in the Hebrew Scriptures (Tanakh):
Deuteronomy 32:39
“See now that I, even I, am He (אֲנִי הוּא; Ani Hu), and there is no god beside Me; I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal; and there is none that can deliver out of My hand.”

This passage links God's unique existence and sovereignty to His covenant name.

Isaiah 41:4
“Who has performed and done this, calling the generations from the beginning? I, יהוה (YHWH), the first, and with the last—I am He (אֲנִי הוּא; Ani Hu).”

Isaiah 43:10-11
“You are My witnesses,” declares יהוה (YHWH), “and My servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He (אֲנִי הוּא; Ani Hu). Before Me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after Me. I, I am יהוה (YHWH), and besides Me there is no savior.”

Isaiah 48:12
“Listen to Me, O Jacob, and Israel, whom I called! I am He (אֲנִי הוּא; Ani Hu); I am the first, and I am the last.”

Hosea 12:5 (12:6 in Hebrew text)
“Even יהוה (YHWH), the God of hosts; יהוה (YHWH) is His memorial name.”

This emphasizes the eternal memorial nature of the name יהוה, as seen in Exodus 3:15.

New Testament Connections to אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה

John 8:58
“Before Abraham was, ἐγώ εἰμι (Ego Eimi).”

Jesus identifies Himself with the eternal "I AM," drawing a direct connection to אֶהְיֶה in Exodus 3:14. The reaction of the Jewish audience (picking up stones to stone Him, John 8:59) indicates they understood this as a claim to deity.

John 13:19
“I am telling you this now, before it takes place, that when it does take place you may believe that I am He (ἐγώ εἰμι; Ego Eimi).”

This echoes Isaiah 43:10, where YHWH declares, “that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He (Ani Hu).”

Mark 14:62
“I am (ἐγώ εἰμι; Ego Eimi), and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.”

Here, Jesus combines the divine "I AM" with imagery from Daniel 7:13-14, affirming His identity as both the Son of Man and YHWH.

Revelation 1:8
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

This aligns with YHWH's self-identification as eternal and unchanging in Exodus 3:14.

Revelation 22:13
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

Echoing Isaiah 41:4 and 48:12, Jesus affirms His identity with YHWH as eternal and self-existent.

Scholarly Insights:

Anthony Rogers:
Rogers emphasizes that "Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh" identifies YHWH as the self-existent, eternal God and argues that Jesus’ use of ἐγώ εἰμι in the New Testament demonstrates His deity. He highlights the Jewish reaction in John 8:58-59 as evidence that Jesus was claiming equality with YHWH.

Richard Bauckham (Jesus and the God of Israel):
Bauckham asserts that Jesus’ self-referential "I AM" sayings in John explicitly connect Him to YHWH’s self-revelation in Exodus and Isaiah, presenting Jesus as fully divine within Jewish monotheism.

Daniel B. Wallace (Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics):
Wallace notes the emphatic use of ἐγώ εἰμι without a predicate nominative in John 8:58. This construction, he argues, aligns Jesus with the timeless, self-existent identity of YHWH in Exodus 3:14.

C.F.D. Moule:
Moule emphasizes that the use of ἐγώ εἰμι in John's Gospel, particularly without predicates, is a deliberate echo of the divine self-designation found in the LXX translation of Exodus 3:14.

Summary of Connections:
אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה in Exodus 3:14 is YHWH’s self-revelation as the eternal, self-existent God.

The name יהוה (YHWH) is rooted in the same concept of being and existence as אֶהְיֶה.

Jesus’ use of ἐγώ εἰμι in the New Testament directly ties Him to YHWH, as evidenced by the cross-references to Exodus, Isaiah, and the reactions of His audience.

In the future I will try to actually respond to what you actually write and not to your many confusing, sometimes unrelated sources, as this is the only way I see to get you to bite, unfortunately. Regardless whether you ignore me or not, I will begin doing this as this your weakness, because you really do not know much of scripture yourself. You are solely reliant on your sources. And also this method might actually reach your conscience much more quickly.

More to come then...
