John 12:16 KJV
[16] These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.

John 12:23-32 KJV
[23] And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. [24] Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

Clearly the "pick up your cross and follow me". We must die to this world.
There is no other way.

[25] He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. [26] If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. [27] Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. [28] Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying , I have both glorified it , and will glorify it again. [29] The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it , said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him. [30] Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes. [31] Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. [32] And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

1) what does He mean: now shall the prince of this world be cast out?

John 12 connection to Revelation 12.

Revelation 12:9-11 KJV
[9] And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. [10] And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. [11] And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Was Satan cast out of the Kingdom by the Christ's death and resurrection where he(Satan) can no longer accuse the body of Christ? Scripture says we set in heavenly place; In the spiritual kingdom (the kingdom of heaven) where Satan no longer holds power over us by the blood of the Lamb. Satan was cast outside the Kingdom of God?

I believe it means that once we are filly committed to the Lord...and the world has no hold upon us ..we are free from it.
Jesus shows how "the prince of this world is cast out" ...John 14:30 -
"Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me." In Jesus the prince of this world had no worldly footing in Jesus. He could find no 'hook' to grab upon in Jesus life.
Because the world had no hold, therefore the prince of this world could have no hold.

So when we, like Jesus "set our face like a flint"...( Taking up the cross means we are headed to Golgotha...)
...to place of crucifixion...death..our face is set...

That is how I see it. x
