They are our righteousness now, right?

We have no righteousness of our own its all His, what thsi means is even as we are today, because of His righteousness, we can go and stand, quiet safely before the father in all His glory, because we are covered in the righteousness of Christ and therefore seeing as clean and not as sinners. Pretty amazing what Jesus and God achieved at the cross, if only people would ask Him, He would explain.

Hi MH - Good commentating! Esp. your mention concerning that God does regard us as "sinners" (though sin still in our lives) complies with the reason why there are no Scripture references to any people of God as sinners. He does not regard us as being "in the flesh" (old man; sinful nature) Rom 8:9.

Though that's between God and them, He knew most would not choose His way (Mat 7:13, 14), even before creating. This is always difficult to take in but I see it that He knew it would be worth it because of those He knew would choose His way (2 Tim 1:9)! Numbers aren't an issue but the changed heart is, even "over one sinner that repents" (Luke 15:7, 10).

Confusion is understandable because many have not learned in the outset of their salvation of these truths, and many other Biblical truths yet to learn.

True. Because the Spirit is connected with Christ--"Who is our life" (Col 3:4) and "righteousness" (1 Co 1:30).
