This is a straight forward analogy of how charity is undermined.
People say:
"Why don't you go do charity work?"
Then they add:
"It will make you feel good"
Here is the problem I've noticed with this mindset. It's not about the recipient of the charity at all. Helping someone on the basis of feeling good is a selfish act, not a selfless act. Look at the saying in reverse.
People say:

"So you can help someone feel good"
