In Matthew 23:27-28 Jesus creates a poem out of two wordplays.

“Hypocrites” החנפים
“Filthy” מטונפים

“Sepulcher” קבר
“Within” קרב

Matthew 23:27 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites {“Hypocrites” (החנפים)}! For you are like whitewashed tombs {“Sepulcher” (קבר)} which outwardly appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness {“Filthy” (מטונפים)}. 28 Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside {“Within” (קרב)} you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Thanks for your post.

This section is the beginning of the eight woes.

Is it of interest that these eight woes end his ministry as contrasted with the eight blessings at this beginning? Matt 5:1-2

I also like how you raised the idea of a "poem", which closely relates to the meaning of the word Hypocrites: Gk "Play Actors"

7 times he calls them this Matt 23:13,14,15,23,25,27,29

So the lesson here is plain - these men prepared their own spiritual sonnets (among themselves) and by doing so removed the key of knowledge OR "shut up the Kingdom" which is the same thing! Luke 11:52 - Actually this goes deeper in terms of what the Lord is saying.

This applies to the Catholic hieratical system which is based on their model.

Matt 23:12 "Neither suffer them" or "Exclude all those who would not acknowledge their authority as per Gal 4:17

We could go further but the lesson is very clear.

Where the Catholic desire to Catholicise (circumcise) its hearers the purpose for proselyting was to glorify the Judaiser (Gal 6:12,13) "Imitating their teachers, proselyte doubled the image of men!

Such conversions introduced great evils among the Jews. They became regarded as the "leprosy of Israel", "Child of hell", "Son of death" 2 Sam 12:5

Will leave it there for others to comment.
