The devil fought from the beginning of Christ's life to prevent Him from surviving childhood, from being anointed Messiah, from reaching Calvary, from dying as the spotless Lamb of God, from breaking free from the tomb of His death. But, at every turn victory belonged to Jesus.

With the Savior forever out of his reach, Satan turned his vicious attacks on the church - and the one and only thing to which the human race can anchor itself in this never-ending planetary poop storm that has resulted from the curse of sin: the Bible. Higher Criticism, Gnostic Gospels, Existentialism masquerading as "Freedom in Christ", Theory of Evolution, etc., have all been sent into the world by the enemy to undermine the truth. The great Dean Burgon, one of the most valiant defenders against the onslaught of false Bible MSS and corruptions of the truth, and to which the Dean Burgon Society owes it's namesake, had this to say:

"No sooner was the work of Evangelists and Apostles recognized as the necessary counterpart and compliment of God's ancient Scriptures and became the New Testament, that a reception was found to be awaiting it closely resembling that which He experienced Who is the subject of its pages. Calumny and misrepresentation, persecution and murderous hate assailed Him continually...And the Written Word in like manner, in the earliest age of all, was shamefully mishandled by mankind. They crucified Christ, would not they try to do the same to His Word? But, praise God that like Christ, "the Word of our God shall stand forever". Amen.

this if you talk to your colleagues and neighbours works ever so well. Most people donot even think of Jesus except as a swear word.
