I have followed the Kelly Family for years. I discovered their music by accident when I found a casette of their music in a car I bought. I don't think I would have ever known them or even chose their music. They were not commercial and really unknown outside Europe and Britain.
But what caught my ear was the beautiful harmonies. The Kelly family were 9 or 10 siblings who grew up singing and performing on the streets.
As it turns out they became part of my Christian journey. Paddy Kelly would become a priest due to the stress of fame.
He then left the monestary and established himself as a solo artist in his own right. His songs still inspire me because I relate to his journey having followed the Kelly family before he became a Christian. Watching his transition.
This was at their peak in the 80's and 90's. They outsold the Beatles in Europe at their peak. But I had never heard of them.
This is Paddy Kelly now Michael Patrick Kelly today.
