The law and the prophets stopped prophesizing about the kingdom because Jesus was now offering it to Israel but the law and the prophets were still to be fulfilled by the death and resurrection of Christ.

So your claim is Jesus spoke in error in Luke 16:16 ?

[Luk 16:16 KJV] 16 The law and the prophets [were] until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

Jesus was saying the prophets spoke of the kingdom on earth (the kingdom of God0 until John because thats when the kingdom would be offered and if Israel repented would enter into it

This doent prevent the prophets still speaking of his death and resurrection which were yet to be fulfilled

Too bad you don't know the Bible definition of what the Kingdom of God is

None the less, Jesus took away the old covenant. He then established the New Covenant.

Starting with the ministry of John the Baptist, the New Covenant started being taught which is the Gospel of the Kingdom

Others can do whatever they want, but I'm walking in God's Kingdom in this life, right now! :wavinghand

I agree with all you say but, here I differ. I dont agree in saying Paul didnt reveal the body of Christ until he penned the prison letters.

[1Co 12:27 KJV] 27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

1 Corinthians was written around Acts 20, before prison
Paul speaks of the mystery in Romans written in Acts 20 before prison
'Now to Him that is of power to stablish you
according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ,
according to the revelation of the mystery,
which was kept secret since the world began,
But now is made manifest,
and
by the scriptures of the prophets, (therefore searchable)
according to the commandment of the everlasting God,
made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:'

(Rom 16:25-26)

'Now ye are the body of Christ,
and members in particular.'

(1Co 12:27)

Hello Doug,

Thank you for both responses (above), in regard to 1 Corinthians 12:27 and Romans 16:25-26.

The Roman epistle ends with a doxology which refers to The Mystery of Christ, which though shrouded in mystery, was still the subject of the Old Testament Prophets, and made known to all of the New Testament apostles and prophets by revelation, including Paul. It was therefore the subject of all the epistles written during the Acts period. which is not so regarding The Mystery made known to Paul exclusively: That was not revealed prior to it's revelation at the end of the Acts period, and is only made known in the prison epistles of Paul, namely Eph. Phil. Col. 2 Tim. Tit. & Phil, See Eph. 3:8-9. 'Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:'

The Corinthian reference is particularly associated with the distribution of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and is an illustration using the parts of the human body. This in itself is nothing like what is described in Ephesians regarding the Body of Christ, which is a joint body.
The word 'particular' in the verse quoted:-' Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.' has the meaning of 'each in it's part'. So has no reference to a mystery which is spoken of corporately, not individually, within which spiritual gifts are not in evidence, and which at the point of the writing of Corinthians was still 'hid in God'.

* I agree that the usage of the words 'the body of Christ' in Corinthians appears to belie the claim that the prison epistles are the only source of information concerning The Church which is The Body of Christ, but the fact stated in Eph. 3:8-9, that it had been 'hid in God', 'from the beginning of the world' must not be overlooked, along with Col. 1:26. 'Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:'

Thank you
In Christ Jesus

Here is the verse you like to render

[Luk 16:16 KJV] 16 The law and the prophets [were] until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

You say that the law was done away with and a new covenant started........if so why Did Jesus keep commanding to keep the law of Moses?

[Mat 19:17-19 KJV] 17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? [there is] none good but one, [that is], God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. 18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, 19 Honour thy father and [thy] mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

[Luk 5:14 KJV] 14 And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

What churches is Paul writing to in the epistles that aren't prison epistles?
Hello @Doug,

Paul wrote to the believers in Galatia, Corinth, Thessalonica, Rome, and to the believing remnant of Israel in a letter addressed to the Hebrews, during the Acts period: and when he meets the Ephesians elders as he made his way to Jerusalem, where prison awaited him, he summarises his ministry to that company by saying (Acts 20:18-27):-

(18) And when they were come to him, he said unto them,
Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia,
after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,
(19) Serving the Lord with all humility of mind,
and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me
by the lying in wait of the Jews:
(20) And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you,
but have shewed you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house,
(21) Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks,
repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
(22) And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem,
not knowing the things that shall befall me there:
(23) Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city,
saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.
(24) But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself,
so that I might finish my course with joy,
and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus,
to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
(25) And now, behold, I know that ye all,
among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God,
shall see my face no more.
(26) Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.
(27) For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

* In this declaration by Paul, he states that he had not shunned to declare unto them all the counsel of God. Yet what he lists does not contain anything concerning the mystery that he reveals in the prison epistles. That would imply that He had not yet received the revelation of God concerning it, otherwise he could not have said that he had given them all the counsel of God.
He tells them of the ministry that he had received from his risen Lord and Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, to testify the gospel of the grace of God, (1st occurrence) and this he was eager to do.

So, Paul had been preaching concerning the kingdom of God, of repentance towards God, and faith towards our Lord Jesus Christ. We are told in Romans 1:1-5, that he preached the gospel of God, also called the gospel of His Son or of Christ.

(2) (Which He had promised afore by His prophets in the holy scriptures,)
(3) Concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord,
which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;

(4) And declared to be the Son of God with power,
according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

(5) By Whom we have received grace and apostleship,
for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:'

Only in the prison epistles do you read of the mystery that was revealed to Paul concerning the Church which is the Body of Christ, of which Christ is the Head.

What are some old testament verses that you say speak of the mystery of Christ written by Paul in his non prison epistles.

* The mystery of Christ, consists of all that is said in type and shadow concerning the One Who was to come, the Lord Jesus Christ, beginning with the promised seed of the woman, way back in Gen. 3:15. there are innumerable references that could be given, but forgive me if I don't give any at this moment, because I now have to go off-line: but you are perfectly aware of the prophecies that abound concerning the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ, Doug.

Who do you say these apostles are and how did they receive revelation

The apostles and prophets of the New Testament. ( Eph. 3:5). As to when they received this revelation I do not know, but we have the following scriptures in which their understanding is enlightened.

'And He said unto them,
These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you,
that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses,
and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures
,
And said unto them, Thus it is written,
and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name
among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
And ye are witnesses of these things.'

(Luk 24:44-48)

'And beginning at Moses and all the prophets,
he expounded unto them in all the scriptures
the things concerning Himself.'

(Luk 24:27)

Sorry, I can't do better,
Within the love of Christ our Saviour,
our Lord and Head.
Chris

why Did Jesus keep commanding to keep the law of Moses?

Jesus did not teach the law of Moses. He never told anybody to keep the sabbath or make animal sacrifices for sin did He? No!

Jesus taught the Gospel of the Kingdom. If He didn't then He lied in Luke 16:16

Jesus was dealing with those still living under the law of Moses, but the entire point of God's Word being made flesh was to not only go to the Cross for the sins of mankind, but to also establish the New Covenant which brings forth the Law of Christ.

Those trying to live under the law of Moses are not saved and are on their way to hell.
You cannot mix the old and new covenants like the hebrew roots people are trying to do.

What is the new covenant? It cant be the gospel of the kingdom that was jest telling Israel the kingdom was at hand

You should learn God's Word better and quit thinking carnally like the Jews did causing them to reject the Lord just because they are thinking according to this world's ways and not according to the Lord's ways.

Romans 14:17
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Romans 14:17 is the definition of what the Kingdom of God is now. Later when Jesus return, locks up the devil, and starts His 1000 Reign, He will manifest the kingdom of God across this entire world which is what the Jews were expecting and rejected Jesus as Lord because Jesus did not do this at His first coming.

Hebrews 10:1 tells us that the law having a shadow of good things to come are not the actual things to come. In Hebrews 4:8 we see that if Jesus had given them rest (old testament saints under the Law of Moses aka the Levitical Law), then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. God's Word tells us that no one is justified before God by the law (Galatians 3:11), therefore there had to be a New Covenant or a New Testament. (see Hebrews 10:16, and Jeremiah 31:31)

So, the law of Moses under the OLD Covenant was not the end destination that the Lord desired for man. The NEW Covenant is the desired end destination God desires for man which is for His people to be born again abiding In the Body Christ with the Holy Spirit abiding in them. The New Covenant is based on better promises than the old covenant was. (Hebrews 8:6)

Hebrews 3:5,6
And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; But Christ as a Son over His own house; whose house are we, IF we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

Now, there is a new house, the Body of Jesus Christ! Under the New Covenant that the Lord said would come forth, we see Jesus Christ as the High Priest. The old covenant with it’s laws and regulations have been taken away because thru Jesus Christ a new and better covenant has come in to place.

Hebrews 10:9
Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

(God said He would make a New Covenant - see Jeremiah 31:31-34)

Hebrews 8:6
But now hath Jesus obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also Jesus is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

And with the changing of the priesthood, God’s Word tells us there is also a change of the law.

Hebrews 7:12
For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

God’s people are no longer living under the Law of Moses. Now God’s people are living under the Law of Christ (also called the law of liberty, law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus – see Galatians 6:2, 1 Corinthians 9:21, James 2:12, James 1:25, Romans 8:2)

New Covenant Whole Gospel:

Who is now the King of Israel in John 1:49? Is the King of Israel now the Head of the Church, and are we His Body? Why did God allow the Romans to destroy the Old Covenant temple and the Old Covenant city, about 40 years after His Son fulfilled the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34 in blood at Calvary?

In Matthew chapter 21 Jesus said the "son" is the "heir" to the land, and the kingdom would be taken from those who reject the "chief cornerstone" and it would be given to a nation bearing fruit. Who is the "holy nation" that are "now the people of God" and are those that accept the "chief cornerstone" in 1 Peter 2:4-10?

What the modern Church needs is a New Covenant Revival (Heb. 9:10) in which members of various denominations are willing to re-examine everything they believe and see if it agrees with the Bible, instead of the traditions of men. We need to be like the Bereans. It will be a battle between our flesh and the Holy Spirit. It will not be easy. If you get mad and upset when someone challenges your man-made Bible doctrines, that is your flesh resisting the truth found in God's Word.

Nobody can completely understand the Bible unless they understand the relationship between the Old Covenant given to Moses at Mount Sinai and the New Covenant fulfilled in blood at Calvary. What brings all local churches together into one Body under the blood of Christ? The answer is found below.

On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him.

He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth.

Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by husband unto them, saith the LORD:

Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? What did Paul say about Genesis 12:3 in Galatians 3:8, 3:16? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53?

Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis?

Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart.

Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36)

We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24.

1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

1Jn 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

1Jn 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

The following verses prove the Holy Spirit is the master teacher for those now in the New Covenant.

Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Mar 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

1Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
