I'm quite new to christianity. If anything, I am a novice in all aspects, but I try a diligently to do the best I can, as close as I can to what the Lord expects of me.
I was pagan for most of my life. I really didn't have any other influences otherwise. I stumbled on christianity by accident, but what a mavelous one it was.
I was studying world religions in order to broaden my pagan path, and to be able to connect with others paths on my once pagan based website, when I cracked open a bible. It spoke to me like no other faith ever has. I soon began to fear that I would really experience hell. You see, until then, I had never believed in hell, demons, or the devil. I can now see where hell was greatly influencing my life.
In complete fear, I had an urgency to know more. I studied for hours, days, weeks, months, and probed my friends and family that were familiar with the Lord. I finally had the answer. I needed to read the story of Christ. Through researching the story of Christ, I found a love stronger than any I have ever witness, and immediately gave myself over to him. I didn't know what to say. I begged the Lord to forgive me for my ignorance and pompase life. I pleaded that he might save me from hell, like he had the man next to him on the cross. I gave him my life and dedication, and made tremendous changes in my lifestyle.
I now try as hard as I can every day to put to use the gifts that were given to me by the Holy Ghost, Christ, and God, whenever I can.
I closed down the pagan site, and even told the members why I was closing down, urging them to give the bible another chance to speeak to them. It wasnot too late to come to the Lord and be saved. I still feel guilt from my actions from time to time, but it is a constant reminder to me of how much I need to continue to focus on loving the Lord, and trusting in everything he has done, and will do.
Now is my time to prove myself worthy of the breath of life. Now is my time to take what short amount of time I have and put my works to my faith.
I come here for support from others walking the path, speaking the word, and putting their life on the line for Christ. I come here for reiteration to what I am reading, so that I might have better understanding from different perspectives. I come here to hopefully be the same I am seaking for in others here, to another on the decieving path, that want to make it right with the Lord.
I hope you are patient with me, because i will have many questions, that may seem infantile, but baby steps are what I have right now.
Gob bless you for having a place of truth, out of the darkness of the world.

Good to see you have turned to Jesus. But i worry when you say:

I don't want to discourage you from doing good works or growing in the knowledge of salvation. But the breath of life (The grace of Jesus) is a gift from God to us. While there may be a deep desire in us to justify or earn or work towards being worthy of it. The truth is one can never become worthy of it. It is a true Gift of Love that cannot be paid for by works. If our intention is to pay for it then we are seeking to pay for His gift. Not only is eternity with God something no human can ever pay for ( Jesus paid the price), it really is a kind of insult to the gift giver to offer them payment for the gift.

The reason why God's Grace is Amazing is because it is a gift, a true gift. This is why we can say with true Joy what a loving Father we have in the God of Abraham.

So do your best to do good for others not to make yourself worthy but out of love for them because Jesus loves them. And do your best to serve God, not because you want to be worthy of God but out of love for God.

May the Holy Spirit guide you to all understanding.

I know what you meant there - my advice from experience is don't just sit back and become complacent. The real secret about us Christians is that we're never really worthy of God's grace. Grace literally means unmerited favor, and frankly our human natures don't let us do a whole lot of true merit. That's why it's such a precious thing when it does happen and someone does something above and beyond out of love.

Romans 3 will testify to this.

So don't waste your time trying to be worthy of it. I'm not, you're not, no one in this world is worthy of it. However, we have such a phenomenal Father that he doesn't care! He takes us as-is, and that is something that should be shared with anyone that will listen.

Ask, learn, seek, and study. You're always welcome to do any of those here at CB!

    Welcome aboard! :)

Well i can tuely say that this is a blessing that you have came to christ, you know this is strange because i just had a dream about something similar involving me trying to break the pagan cult of a person i went to college with. He was into wicca, anyway back to my dream i was in a temple and we were arguing about wich religion was right but i knew in the dream that christ would prevail and he did. It ended up that i was fighting for christ with my staff against the pagan person that i knew and he was fighting with his staff for wicca but the conclusion was is that i broke his staff in the dream and there i was in the victory of christ in the dream with my staff raised high. The main point of that dream though is if we let christ work in our life and accept him that christ can break any chain he chooses weather it be false religion or anything else.

Remember brother your a new creature in christ now and you must not look back, 2nd Corinthians 5:17, Isaiah 43:18 and Ephesians 4:24.

    God bless

I thank you for the welcomes.
I thank God for the gifts he has given, and would hope that I wasn't comming off as someone who is trying to barter for gifts. I'm greatfull to be a servant of the Lord.
I wish that I had never known paganism, and had been raised with the knowledge of the word instead.
It has been difficult for me, but I lean on the Lord now.
My old ways got me nowhere but terrible grief and sorrow.
God's word is true, and Amen to that.

Hi; great to read your testimony.

First Thessalonians 5 is a chapter that is very relevant to themes that you mention.

God bless His Word to you in your life. Take care.
