An entire nation has lost 95 people to a senseless killing that has been said the gunman was a "Christian fundamentalist''...lets hope that the Christian fundamentalist does not decide to hit another nation...Mercy I don't see how they can call themselves any type of Christian..

Norwegian police said last night that Breivik - who listed Dexter, a TV show about a serial killer, as a favourite on Facebook - was "cooperating" with investigators and "wants to explain himself".According to information the suspect posted online, he is an "ethnic'' Norwegian and a "Christian fundamentalist'', police spokesman Roger Andersen said, adding his political opinions leaned ``to the right''.

I've seen plenty of headlines saying he was a 'Christian fundamentalist' but when you look at the actual news piece it only says he was part of a neo-Nazi group.
The simple fact is this; whatever others claim he is, whatever he claims he is, he is not a follower of Christ. The Bible tells us we will know a true Christian by their fruit...this man's fruit was rotten, evil.

I don't see where these labels are coming from, he supposedly participated on a christian fundamentalist anti muslim website. He had some of the typical scatterbrain signs of a psychopath killer and he disagreed with the Norwegian political system. I have not seen anything that says he was part of a neo-nazi group if someone has a source on this I wouls like to see it. Apparently he was a soldier who completed service in the Norwegian army and had a business degree which was undoubtedly paid for by the Norwegian government. Obviously the guy was nuts. Only thing I could say in the mans defense is that they have had lots of problems in Oslo and Europe with islamic fundamentalists immagrating, maybe he had an unpleasant run in with some muslims and took matters in to his own hands.

Today in court the gentleman who perpetuated this terrible crime identified himself as a "Darwinist."

I think it would be very hard for a person to be a Darwinist and a Christian Fundamentalist at the same time.

I'm from Norway so I can offer more insight than the general media as I have read almost all of mr Brehvik blogs, statements and so fourth.

I agree with you all that the way media spins this tragedy shows who hold power in the world.

It is sad that people judge the horror of his crimes on the intention of them and not on the nature of the horror itself, I think this shows relitavism as if he was a socialist politically correct murderer and shot down conservatives as if then instead somehow the horror could be justified to some degree.

Here are some short facts about mr Brehvik.

(1) Was a member of the masonic lodge. (the head of the lodge has condemmed the attack and the person)

(2) Brehvik strongly disliked american conservatism because of it embrace of other ethnic groups and freedom of culture.

(3) Claimed he was a libertarian but had Macchiavelli as his favorite philosopher. And prefered national socialist policies, and made defence of nazism.

(4) Wanted to bring about a Christian theocracy like the one in Iran except christian one in Norway

(5) Was a member of the conservative right wing party until free market muslims joined the party

(6) Hates all other ethnicities and want a pure aryan norway (Very christian view right?)

(7) Hates Socialism not primarily because of economics like the media wants to you to believe, but because the Labor party was the biggest embracer of multiculturalism

(8) For some reasons believe that in 2083 he will become a saint

(9) Was an entrepenour millionare, with two bachelor degrees and one masters degree in economics

(10) Talks endlessly about infiltrating free market organizations, especially NGO's to move the focus from free market economics to monoethnicism and anti multicultural platfrom

(11) Was friends with people who ran soft porn websites and other shady websites.

Well he was lunatic. The sad thing is that this horror provides an excellent oppurtunity for everyone accross the political, religious and value spectrum to come together and stop holding the collective of groups responsible for one individual horror and that this has not happened.


Also sad is that this will give the socialists in my country who are already attacking the church more power, but I dont fear this since we christians have always lived in persecution generally speaking. I believe that only through fighting evil in all forms do we become noble.

Anyway, from what I can see his label as "Christian" is simply without merit. He didn't have a really strong belief in God, just a general cultural admiration for it. Considered Christianity a Eurocentric phenomena. My question is why he didn't just drop everything and worship Odin.

I dunno Aspen. I think sometimes people can be just plain evil. I don't know that this man is insane, I don't know that any extremist is. They just feel like they are justified to kill to prove their point. No great and twisted thinking process behind it, just a massive sense of entitlement, pride, and a love of chaos and evil. He's not claiming Elvis told him to do it, he's saying he's had a greater purpose, to stop Islam. Of course killing to stop the encroaching of Islam seems to be a bit like fighting fire with fire...but there are plenty of equally sane and stupid people in the world.

I was in Spain and then Colombia during the entire summer, so I wasnt bombarded with it all summer. It was on the news and all media for ever 3 months constantly. And even though I disagree somewhat politically with prime minister Jens Stoltenberg he really handled the situation like a true leader, and even though many opponents of christianity screamed for repercussions against the Church and Church organizations, Jens Stoltenberg repeatedly stated that this was the work of a madman, and the views he had are his own, and only he alone will stand trial for them. Even though he said he was a christian fanatic, christians can't be hold responsible for the tragedy or his views.

The terror act was a crime against God in my opinion, and I hope he will be in prison forever, even though our prisons are like cheap hotel rooms with tv, computer, internet in every cell... hell you even get weekend vacation from prison here
