Orthodox:Orthodox = conforming to the usual beliefs or established doctrine; especially in religion; proper, correct or conventional; conforming to the Christian faith as formulated in religious creeds and confessions.I have heard it said, by some, that their beliefs are the "orthodox" beliefs of the Church. What does this mean?It is and attempt, on their part, to say that their opinions are the correct ones and all that have a different opinion are not the correct ones. If you say your opinions are orthodox then by implication the opinion of another, that is different, is not.Whether a person's beliefs are orthodox, or not, is in the mind of those that think their opinion is in the main stream of Christian thought. As you can see it is still just a matter of opinion and everyone has an opinion. --- The RCC thinks their opinion is orthodox; so does the Greek Orthodox Church and most of the Protestant denominations. But that does not make any of them orthodox. The point is that it is easy to claim your opinions are the orthodox ones.

Sometimes I have said that what I am saying appears to be "a little unorthodox". That is to say, it is not what is generally assumed, understood, or believed by most of those who say they believe. Othertimes I will say what I am saying is rather orthodox. I can say that when I say it, be it orthodox or unorthodox, it isn't to put power behind me (having strength in numbers). I say it as a point of reference, because I am relating it to what is generally believed (or not believed); that is, what is orthodox. That being said, it is true... there are times I might actually be assuming what is orthodox, on some issues. Orthodox to who? The Catholic Church? Protestant church? Non-denominational churches? Or, is orthodox whatever all of those churches agree on? So, even in defining exactly what is orthodox when referring to Christianity, may be difficult sometimes.Though, I can certainly see how it is possible for someone to say it with the intent you are talking about, I am fairly certain that has not been my intent.

Well words have meanings and we do not agree on meanings, then it is impossible to discuss things from a position that has not been defined.BTW there equivalent common statements on this site is (this is God's Word and you are just following teachings of men (if you disagree)). These sayings become meaningless statements as well.
