Would you guys/girls agree that attempting to stay righteous and repenting is painful annoying and troublesome? Being that we as humans are prone to sin..

It is not easy. The older I get the more I can see that the result of my choices to rebell from God are far more "annoying and troublesome" and for much far longer than any perceived momentary selfish gain/selfish pleasure...etc from choosing to sin. Begin to see the results of sin, my sins, extending to the lives of others. Things done in secret come to light, and it is not even judgement yet. The sins are forgiven, but the effects are not forgotten.Generally when we choose to sin by taking the "easy" path we are blind to the longer term consequences.

Jesus is my righteousness, I can't be righteous on my own. I can rest in His righteousness. But yeah sometimes life's struggles can be hard to cope. I can't think of living without Jesus. God helps, the Holy spirit comforts and guide us. God never leaves us or forsakes us.

These are two very different issues.I would agree that attempting to stay righteous is annoying and certainly troublesome, and often very depressing too when it inevitably fails. But, I remind myself that God did make us this way and I cannot hope to exceed the limitations that being human imposes upon my will. Whilst we may have freewill, there are many forces in this world that successfully work against us by tempting our "self" centred desires which contradict our "God centred" wishes. But I have never felt that repenting is painful or troublesome. On the contrary, it is a sanitising and soothing process that not only calms the feeling of guilt and bad conscience, but also increases the hope and eagerness to constantly try, try, try, again.

Agree with kalixx here we cant avoid sin just by our being flesh whether it be as simple as spending to much time of being of this World, on Video games and the like or as some comitting more common sins of lieing ect. But I couldnt Imagine a more wonderful thing then being able to Go to my fatherand repenting for my sins and knowing I can start tomarrow with a clean slate being forgiven for any sins I have comitted.

Well, actually, the longer I walk with the Lord, the easier it seems to get. The more I look at Jesus and the less I look at myself, the easier it gets. This May 18 will be 45 years that I have walked with the Lord. I'm too near home to turn back now. However, yes, it HAS been a hard and difficult race. Many times I've stumbled, doubted, and allowed fears to get in the way. I've even turned my back on God and given up, but God never gave up on me! Just like the story of the ninety and nine, He sought me until He found me again and brought me back to Him! I don't think that story refers only to Him looking for the lost, but also for those that are His and have strayed from Him. After all, the story is about those who were ALREADY in the fold but strayed. So it might not even be about the lost. His love, grace and mercy are unmeasurable! His patience is unending! By His grace I will never stray from Him again. Besides, where else is there to go? He has the words of life.
