That's a good question that people have wondered about for thousands of years..:)
It's satan who likes to mess people up, Jesus said before curing a crippled woman- "Satan has bound her for eighteen years" (Luke 13:10-16)
Satan is like a cruel drill instructor trying to make us abandon God and Jesus-

"I want your D.O.R. boy"


So we have to get through the Life Assault Course without giving him the satisfaction of quitting-
"All creation groans in pain from the beginning til now" (Romans 8:22)

And it sorts the men from the boys:-
"We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God" (Acts 14:22)

Jesus welcomes anybody into his squad:-
"Whoever comes to me I'll never turn away" (John 6:37)

And he'll lead by example:-
"To follow me you must carry your own cross daily" (Luke 9:23)

The C.O. shows no favouritism:-
"God didn't spare his own son" (Romans 8:32)

So if he can hack it so can we:-
"We share in Jesus's sufferings in order to share in his glory" (Romans 8:17)

And others have stayed the course too:-
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith" (2 Timothy 4:7)

Then we qualify with honours:-
"Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life.." (James 1:12)

But for those who want a soft easy religion, Christianity's not for them, how about it sarge?-

"Take the pain !"

Okay enough of that rot Dropship - the share ignorance you show here is insane and it shows you have no interest in understanding that section of Scripture!

Who is the adversary who bound her up?

Dropship states it was a supernatural evil being who gave her an infirmity those 18 years.

What does the Scripture say?

“Spirit of infirmity” = “Feebleness”. And the Lord sympathises with this if you read Heb 4:15 same word! He was crucified because of it! 2 Cor 13:4 (same word)

She was “Bowed together” - Typical of those who were bent under the impossible burden of the law Gal 5:1, Matt 23:4.

And who were the administers of that Law? Who were the Satans to this woman?

This daughter of Abraham was being persecuted by the Judiazers! for which the term ‘Satan’ is used (Lk 22:53, cp Acts 26:18), 2 Cor 11:14; 12:7 Rev 2:9.

I mean the adversary is mentioned in Verse 14 for pete's sake - can't you read the Word of God with more care?

I just can't believe how undisciplined you are in your posts - you trample the Word of God under foot.

Think about the text and how deep it's message is.....

It states “This bond” - “Shackle”, “chain”. Rendered “Bonds” in Acts 26:29, Phil 1:13-16

healed on the “On the Sabbath day” - of course! Read Isa 58:1-7!

Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?”

Her presence in the synagogue testified that the Abrahamic covenant frees us from the bondage of law...read Gal 2:10-14

Boy, I hope you read these verses and gain a correct understanding of precisely what bound her!

Here is adversary (Satan) which bound the woman 18 years and it wasn't just her physical infirmity!

Luke 13:14 But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd,

The self righteous prick didn't even have the courteous nature to look, or speak directly to the woman or for that matter the Lord Jesus Christ!!!!

“There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day.”

This (adversary) satan quotes Exod 20:9 then in a blind admission states one can be healed on the Sabbath - I mean com'on Dropship....and then you would let this guy off the hook by saying some made up supernatural fallen angel was doing all this.

You are no different to this blind bigot.

But that wouldn't be the many adversaries the Scripture is teaching you. You got Luke 13 wrong! Her disability resulted in her being denied entrance to the Temple and to worship - the Lawmen made sure of that. Why don't you try reading the context of the passage first before making rash assumptions?

That's a good question that people have wondered about for thousands of years.

The only answer I have found is to trust God that, for whatever it is that He intends for us to become, it is necessary that we know through experience both Good and Evil.

It's not a really satisfactory answer, especially when really ****ty things happen, but it's the only answer I could find that allows me to sleep at night.

'Satan' is the mass of spiritual pollution that's being churned out by nonchristians and atheists that disrupts the harmony of the universe,

Already did...but I doubt you have read that section of Scripture....my guess is you search Satan and....well there you go. I'm also confident your understanding why the incident was recorded is unknown to you so why bother? If you are not meant to know what's the point!

Revelation 21, sea here v1, is not water, but the politics of the nations as an angel earlier in the book says, so all that will be done away with.

So that we can know what good is and appreciate it when it comes. When we are in darkness and light shines it is glorious.
Could we know forgiveness if there wasn't sin?
Could we know mercy and healing if not for pain and suffering?
Could we know love and faith, kindness, joy, truth if we did not see their opposites.
Could we really understand and appreciate any of God's attributes and blessings unless we have lived without them?
The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil was there for a purpose ... and so was Satan. Obviously we needed both. God knew what would happen and really it is was the only way. You can't force anyone to love you. There must be a choice and you need to knowbhowbvaluable that choice is. He couldn't nor can we force anyone to love. We need to do it willingly. When we see someone in need we are moved with compassion to help. What triggers compassion or mercy? Feelings well up inside us and we empathize with someones pain ... we want to help. We wouldn't be motivated to do aything fir anyone if they did not need it.
We drink water, have an abundance ( at least where I live) and take it for granted. It is a sure thing, anytime we want it. Imagine being stranded in a 100 degree desert without water for just a couple days. You can't think of anything else because you know you will soon die. Then you come to an oasis, a beautiful, natural spring of fresh water - ooh how wonderful and refreshing. You never appreciated it as much as you did that moment. Anything that is good is often taken for granted until we don't have anyone. We don't appreciate family sometimes until they are gone.
The pain and sufferings in our lives can not compare to the glory that we will experience in heaven - you'd probably sacrifice a hundred lifetimes for heaven if you knew. But you won't ... just a few mire years and it you will have a new eternal body and never experience evil again.

believe you me for those who end up in the firey depths , they gonna know there simply is no worse a place .
But on the opposite side of that is , WHEN THE LAMBS ARE FINALLY HOME its PARADISE with KING forever and ever and ever.
Sufferings in this life but dont feel good . That is a fact i do know . But the HOME i look forward
too lifts me up with hope even during the darkest times . Eternal life with THE KING is gonna be upmost wonderful.
Just remember that . Now lift those hands and let the glorious Lord be praised .
You will be prayed for as well .
