It's my brain that will die eventually.
I don't believe that we have a spirit or soul.

The mind is a bunch of experiences, the mind is a funny thing that is influenced by lived experience, and is what makes us who we are.

We know that mathematics exists independently of any material. We also know that information has an existence independently of any material. (Interestingly, information has no weight, no dimension, no energy.)

If I give you a compact disc that supposedly has a Beethoven Symphony on it, you can verify it by playing it (a machine that changes the information of the disc to sound waves, that you hear and your brain interprets it).

Question: does this music exist independently of the compact disc? If it does, where does it reside?

The information is stored on the CD. If you gave me a CD that supposedly had a Beethoven symphony on it and it turned out to be Club Tropicana by Wham, my brain would interpret that and dismiss the Beethoven possibility instantly.
The music doesn't exist independently, our brains process the information that is picked up by our ears.

We have devices that are capable of recording sound in this day and age.
Because we've recorded it, it's recorded and not independent.
