Yeah,.. the only thing that I'm worried about is our other cat and I don't know how to handle that problem of what if they don't get along or she (Jessie) gets sick or something. :/ That's what I really need help with. I just know that I can't name this furbaby until I have a plan because in the words of Mike from Monsters' Inc. once I name it,.. I start getting attached to it and it might actually have a home.
Cats are very territorial and don't really get on unless they are siblings. If you have more than one they may life in the same house and tolerate each other but have their own space. Your cat definitely wouldn't welcome a stranger. Best to leave the stray where it is or take it to an animal welfare place to see if it's shipped.

Okay, so for those of you who don't already know,.. a couple of days ago I found a cat in a cemetery and it was when I was geocaching with my mom. We gave it fresh food and water but lately I haven't been able to get it out of my mind because even though there were houses nearby it looked and acted like it was starving and there have been some cold and rainy nights. :(

I really want to go check on it and bring it home to keep it (even though I wasn't originally planning on wanting another cat) but there are two issues with that. One, I already have a cat as most of you probably already know named Jessie and we're not sure how they would get along,.. and two,.. we're not sure if he or she already belongs to somebody but I can't stop thinking about them. Any ideas or advice? @Devin Wintch, @Taodeching,.. you're cat people do you have any suggestions? And @JohnDB I know you're not a cat person but I could really use some fatherly advice right now.

Oh yes third issue is that the cat was found like a half an hour from where we live and fourth being we're not sure if it's healthy (although it appears to be for the most part) and spayed or neutered. It was so cute, sweet, loving, and affectionate though and I just don't know what to do. :(

Edit: I think that @Mayflower is a cat lady too so I'm going to tag her as well. As well as @FluffyYellowDuck.

If it was sweet loving and affectionate than it wasn't feral. A feral cat would be aggressive and attack you. It's probably someones cat, but if it looked starving it could be a problem. Some cats are thin though. You might go back and look for it and bring some food in a dish. Other than that I would just see if it wants some food and then you could go back a few times and see if it's still there.

Turn the cat around... Look from the bottom, dashes are females and a bulb and a dot is a male. That's going to make a difference. If you have other male cats they might fight and males may also spray if they're not fixed. Females are more domicile and you'll have a better chance of them getting along. But even with males, if you have enough litter boxes and high places for them to sit on and claim as their personal kingdom, should be alright.

Confident cats sit up high.

Btw I have six cats because the one orange soda covered cat cat I rescued and named Tony was filled with other cats. So she got the name Muffin Top instead, so something to keep in mind if you find a female.

I somehow missed this. Yeah I have six... Lol!

So first it needs to be checked out to see if has a tracking thing on it, which it might not but it is easy to find out. separate the cats from the others until vet time, because it could have something contagious. Put the cat in a crate when it's around the other cats at first to slowly introduce. Flea and tick medicine! Be careful and watch for bumpy translucent things.. On the farm, I was the tick puller, but Lyme disease is no joke.

I got a crate at Goodwill for like $12. For some reason they always have them.

There are two problems with this. One,.. I already checked and there aren't any animal shelters in the area that it was found. Two,.. if I bring the cat back to our local shelter it's going to be a major bummer if people in the area are looking for it.

Forgot to mention too, if you take the cat, youll want to make sure you wrap it in a towel or blanket so it doesn't run back off and it will help with anxiety. It calms them down and keeps your face safe from scratches.

Actually, the cat seemed awfully friendly. It was letting me pet it and everything. The only thing is that I made sure to wash my hands really good before touching my own cat since even though it seemed to be in good health, there's no telling what kind of shape the stray is in.

Good advice, but I already mentioned above why I can't get the cat chipped. Also, there's a huge part of me that doesn't want to leave it where it is because what if nobody else is taking care of it? :(

Six cats!?! 0__0 Wow that's a lot!! I bet that they get a lot of love though. :) Anyways, the reason why we don't know if it's a boy or a girl is because we didn't check. We were so busy worrying about it and buying it food and giving it water. I am currently talking with my mom about this and we are going over all of our options since we're both sort of hooked on it and don't want to see it die. :(

Did the cat look healthy overall? Usually there's going to be signs that it's a stray. Missing fur, muffin has a torn ear, fleas, malnourished, etc. If it looked super healthy and friendly, it has been exposed to people and made plenty social... Someone's cat might have gone for a stroll so it could even belong to the people who run the cemetery!

One of my cats was a hunter and that thing would leave me for two weeks straight (even in the cold) and I would hear nothing until he decided to leave a bird or a squirrel at my doorstep.

I did not like his presents

Like I said before the cat was rather skinny and wolfing down its food and yes I agree that it could belong to somebody,.. that's why I say we should give it some time and then go back and see if the cat's still there and figure out what to do afterwards.

That's what I would do then. That's a pretty good sign. If you feel overwhelmed about it one thing you can do is make a Facebook post on a local page- especially if you got a picture.

I'm not on FB, but I do watch the local stuff and people are always losing and finding lost animals and for some reason wallets.

There's as many found and lost wallets as animals. I don't get it. You'd think they had legs.

Actually that's what we were talking about doing and it might seem strange because He hasn't spoken to me directly about this but I sort of feel like God has been telling me in a non-verbal way that we need to do everything we can to help it. After all, animals are His creation too, so even though it's in a different way you can bet He loves them as well,.. as for me,.. I've already sort of fallen for this sweet little kitty. 33333

Yes he does! Man's first job was to care for the earth and the animals. :D

I talked to my mom about this already and the area we found the cat unfortunately doesn't have a lost and found Facebook page :( but we will continue to check up on it. :)
