Shows that young women now do this basically benign experience confidently, anyway.

    Well, you did it, anyway.

    And you've got it now.

And it proved harmless, right? :)

Moderately done, aesthetically at least it can be done tastefully for both genders, right?

A very good question. It has its problems if the person has a tattoo about Jesus on his arm but his life leaves a lot to be desired.

So are you still in theory open to more ink?

Well, I suppose that taken to extremes an argument could go like, Because even pierced ears are not strictly necessary, therefore they should be avoided, and tattoos also...

I do think that one can easily slip into legalism, though, don't you?

Yes, there is a personal standard to keep to, especially if it's visible, right?

Not really. Paul gave lots of advice in the NT. He said that while we were free to do the things that Judaism forbade, not everything would be beneficial. In Paul's day, the Judaic prohibition on eating pigs made sense strictly from a biological standpoint. Pigs are scavengers and will eat virtually anything that seems at all like it could be food. During the Great Depression, many farmers fed their pigs cow manure! Because of their natural habits, their meat could contain many toxins which is a result of the way that pigs digest their food in addition to their less-than-pure diet. In other words, we are free to eat pork, but it might not be beneficial. Sorry, all you bacon fans. :(

    Thanks for your comment.

Actually I do like bacon burgers... :)

When it comes to pierced ears and tattoos, frankly a lot of ppl have them done with a clear conscience and have no known complications, right?

I guess it could also work the other way: to be the only person who is tattooed, faith based or otherwise...

Anyway, many wives today have ceased to feel bound to avoid inkings; seems that if they feel they like it, they will just do it, right?

So do you see a direct parallel between possible toxins in pork, and tattoo ink?

No--I am just saying that, even though one is free to get one, it might not be beneficial for a number of reasons. It might offend another Christian. It might be an item of regret eventually. It might be seen as a bit of "trying to please men rather than pleasing God". I know that this is a thing with you, Farouk. But you may not get the approval of other Christians and that is okay if you honestly feel that it is the right thing to do.

Thanks for your comment, @Lady Crosstalk . As regards whether other Christians 'approve', I guess my mind goes back to the quote talked about not so long ago, FYI:

    forums dot thewelltrainedmind dot com

Anyway, it really does seem to be something that a lot of Christians do, doesn't it?

And some would say, If it also has witness potential?

Thanks again for your thoughtful comment.
