Thanks. That hasn’t happened and I don’t think it ever will happen. If it truly is up to the Catholics themselves then it underscores the culpability of the Catholics themselves in the matter.

I agree. My charity before was misplaced. Their inaction is what allows the corruption to continue. There are times when anger is warranted.

I think we have to look elsewhere for the answer to the question. As an agnostic, I‘m not sure that you can. If you were an atheist, I’d almost be willing to bet the farm that you would.

Oh. Yeah, they tend to become angry far too often at a god they don't believe in, it's true.

My mind was greatly influenced by the New Atheist movement. People like Hitchens, Harris, Dawkins, Schermer, etc. Great men that appealed to reason. But also flawed men that hid their flaws well.

I recall an exchange between Douglas Wilson and Christopher Hitchens once. They were debating the nature of morality and where it comes from.

Hitchens believed it was innate within us all. Wilson believed it was from God. Hitchens described a story inn thee bible that he considered to be the height of obscene and wickedness. Wilson asked him, "based on what standard?" To which Hitchens, who was noticeably taken aback, said, "by the... well, good question".

But instead of conceding the point or attempting to offer a counter argument, be appealed to the audience to bail him out. At the time, I didn't notice this because I was in Hitchens' camp. I wanted him to win.

But now I find myself more on Douglas Wilson's camp in that, if there is no God, then morality is whatever we want it to be. It's an opinion and nothing more. A social construct. A fart in the wind.

It's been a while since I've read a book anyway. In American life, it's so difficult to just slow down long enough to read a book or contemplate.
