'For then shall be great tribulation,
such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time,
    no, nor ever shall be.
And except those days should be shortened,
there should no flesh be saved:
but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.'

    (Matthew 24:21)

    Hello there,

I looked up these verses, for having listened to Greta Thunberg's address to the UN Climate Conference 2019 on the news today, I feel that if these present days are not shortened, that we will all have to face extremely difficult times. With young children being encouraged to take to the streets in mass protest around the world against the perils of global warning, and such bitterness of spirit being manifested by such young people against the older generation, whom they blame for their perceived plight. Voiced and expressed so vehemently by their Representative, to whom they look up and seek to emulate. I do fear for the consequences.

We must take heed to the danger they are seeking to make known, and act accordingly, otherwise the bitterness and rage of such, could spill over into violence and lawless behaviour.

We will not be forgiven by this rising tide of young people, if we do not try by every means possible to prevent the possibility of lasting damage to the world we live it, by apathy and lack of action on our part.

    'And the nations were angry,
    and Thy wrath is come,
and the time of the dead,
    that they should be judged,
and that Thou shouldest give reward
    unto Thy servants the prophets,
    and to the saints,
    and them that fear Thy name, small and great;

and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.'
    (Rev 11:18)

This verse came to mind too, because of it's 'reference to those which destroy the earth. These verses have no application to the present situation, or to what I have sought to discuss, having their own time for fulfilment within the purpose of God. I know. Yet they express my fears in the light of this rising tide of youthful protest and indignation.

    Thank you for listening.

People today, esp the young and easily manipulated, have been brainwashed into believing that we can actually correct the fact of a slight increase in CO2 in our atmosphere and a imperceptible rise of sea level. Most sensible people just ignore the hype and mis-information pushed by those who seem to need a cause to protest about.
The only real way we can do anything about it is to dramatically reduce the worlds population. Anyone willing to help there?
Overpopulation is the root cause of deforestation and water shortages.
The whole 'Climate Change' issue, is orchestrated by those who want to establish a One World Government. Run by themselves, of course.

But it is the sun that is the driver of our climate. It has a cyclical pattern of heat emission and its sunspot activity that varies our climate.
As Prophesied, it will be the sun that will emit a sudden burst of energy, Isaiah 30:26a, literally fulfilling the over 100 prophesies that tell us how the Lord will correct the present situation. Zephaniah 3:8, 2 Peter 3:8

How about looking hard at what one has to do to make a difference.
    1. stop useing electricity unless vital. ie turn off and unplug ever appliance not need at that moment.
So turn ones phone off, all lights except where you are and only have those lights on you need. turn heating down, air con down/off.
    2. travel to work, shopping on foot or by public transport.
    3. don't use any disposalble product, except paper bags.
    4. stop throwing so much food away, only buy what is going to be eaten, bought to much, eat it.

Want to save the world this is the mind set one has to have, are you ready for it?

When I listen to Greta, I too am concerned. But I am not concerned about the environment. I'll tell you what I am concerned for; that kid. Greta is ASD. Being ASD and having 2 ASD kids, I know a thing or two about it. We're told that when Greta was a young kid, she became so concerned about the environment that she stopped eating. This is a massive red flag, and I'll tell you why:
Autistic kids have what is called "special interests". For boys its usually trains or cars...for my son it was transformers. He's almost grown out of it now and has matured into other special interests. Transformers still hold a special place in his heart, however. For girls, its often horses or art or makeup or clothes (one reason why girls are undermisdiagnosed a lot- they tend to blend in with normal girl passions!). Kids with these 'special interests' become absolutely empassioned about them. They think of them constantly, learn everything they can about them, find them fascinating, interesting, calming! And they can't believe others don't share the same level of love they do. Now, mostly we encourage these interests, as we can use them to encourage the kids into doing other things. Like...you need to read...here, read a book about transformers!
Sometimes, however, an interest can be harmful, and we need to try and introduce something the kid can safely fixate on.

Now...to Greta and why I am concerned for her. She is autistic. And clearly the environment is her 'special interest'. But, when she became concerned about it, instead of reassuring her that the world was not about to end, and suggesting that if she wanted to become more invovled in conservation, getting her into some hands on practice, her parents felt it would be good to set her up infront of the world and start yelling about the end of it. This kid fully and completely believes that unless SHE convinces the world to SAVE the world, it's all going to end, very, very soon. She believes she has science and wisdom and rightness on her side. And you can see that it weights upon her greatly. It, being her "interest" is probably ALL she thinks about. ALL she worries about. And when her time in the spotlight is over...and it will be over, because the world is fickle like that, then she will be just another person who came and went and nothing changed. That will KILL her.
Now, regardless of whether or not the science backs climate warming or not, the simple fact is this: no matter what our Countries do, nothing Greta can urge us to will change the output of Countries like China or India, who between them chug out more pollution than most of us Western Nations put together. This kids, simply put, is attempting to fight a loosing battle....and because of her ASD, it will consume her.

That is why I am worried.

    Greta Thunberg

    Hello @Naomi25,

I feel for her too, Naomi, that is why I entered the post linked above, and this one, for it bothered me so much. I did not know that she was ASD, but knowing it now I can empathise with what you say, for I have a grandson, now 23, who is ASD, and in his last year of school had a psychotic episode, which led to schizoaffective disorder. His specialism was warfare, and he became obsessed by the desire to save the world from ISIS, becoming delusional and believing that he was working for the security services to rid the world of them, so that every act of terrorism produced feelings of personal blame, that he should have been able to do something to prevent it. So I share your concern. It did indeed take it's toll on his health, and led to hospitalisation. We can only pray for her.

    Thank you
    In Christ Jesus

Wow, that's tough, Chris, I'm sorry. Sometimes I wonder if the hardest thing is the autism, or the 'comorbid' things that usually come along with it. Thankfully those in our household just got saddled with anxiety and ADD! My brother has epilepsy though, and I know there are a wide ranger of other issues that can come along with autism. I do hope your grandson can find a good balance with treatment and live a happy life.
Yes, poor Greta. I worry that adults who push the climate agenda are using her passion for their own purposes. They love her 'give it everything' nature, but don't really understand it, thinking instead that she will be the 'perfect' figurehead...because 'out of the mouths of babes'...right? Anyway, I hope she has enough wisdom of her own issues to know when she must step back and just get her hands into nature away from cameras and the pressure to 'save the world'.

You seem to be forgetting that the youth of today are being THOROUGHLY BRAINWASHED by the Left-Liberals in the Western World.

God, Christ, and the Bible have been replaced by idols. The earth has become the goddess of the godless, Christ has been replaced by Marx (or Mao), and the Bible has been replaced by Das Kapital (or The Little Red Book).

What the youth worldwide desperately need is the true and pure Gospel. This earth is to be burned up by God, and all humanity faces eternal Hell without Christ.

Top-level climate modeler goes rogue, criticizes 'nonsense' of 'global warming crisis'
    By Thomas Lifson

A highly qualified and experienced climate modeler with impeccable credentials has rejected the unscientific bases of the doom-mongering over a purported climate crisis. His work has not yet been picked up in this country, but that is about to change. Writing at the Australian site Quadrant, Tony Thomas introduces the English-speaking world to the truth-telling of Dr. Mototaka Nakamura (hat tip: Andrew Bolt, John McMahon).

There's a top-level oceanographer and meteorologist who is prepared to cry "Nonsense!"on the "global warming crisis" evident to climate modellers but not in the real world. He's as well or better qualified than the modellers he criticises — the ones whose Year 2100 forebodings of 4degC warming have set the world to spending $US1.5 trillion a year to combat CO2 emissions.

The iconoclast is Dr. Mototaka Nakamura. In June he put out a small book in Japanese on "the sorry state of climate science". It's titled Confessions of a climate scientist: the global warming hypothesis is an unproven hypothesis, and he is very much qualified to take a stand.

From 1990 to 2014 he worked on cloud dynamics and forces mixing atmospheric and ocean flows on medium to planetary scales. His bases were MIT (for a Doctor of Science in meteorology), Georgia Institute of Technology, Goddard Space Flight Centre, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Duke and Hawaii Universities and the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology. He's published about 20 climate papers on fluid dynamics.

Today's vast panoply of "global warming science" is like an upside down pyramid built on the work of a few score of serious climate modellers. They claim to have demonstrated human-derived CO2 emissions as the cause of recent global warming and project that warming forward. Every orthodox climate researcher takes such output from the modellers' black boxes as a given.

Dr. Nakamura has just made his work available to the English-speaking world:
There was no English edition of his book in June and only a few bits were translated and circulated. But Dr Nakamura last week offered via a free Kindle version his own version [sic] in English. It's not a translation but a fresh essay leading back to his original conclusions. And the critique he offers is comprehensive.

    Data integrity

(AT just published the story of Canada's Environment Agency discarding actual historical data and substituting its models of what the data should have been, for instance.)

Now Nakamura has found it again, further accusing the orthodox scientists of "data falsification" by adjusting previous temperature data to increase apparent warming "The global surface mean temperature-change data no longer have any scientific value and are nothing except a propaganda tool to the public," he writes.

The climate models are useful tools for academic studies, he says. However, "the models just become useless pieces of junk or worse (worse in a sense that they can produce gravely misleading output) when they are used for climate forecasting." The reason:

These models completely lack some critically important climate processes and feedbacks, and represent some other critically important climate processes and feedbacks in grossly distorted manners to the extent that makes these models totally useless for any meaningful climate prediction.

I myself used to use climate simulation models for scientific studies, not for predictions, and learned about their problems and limitations in the process.

    Ignoring non-CO2 climate determinants

Climate forecasting is simply impossible, if only because future changes in solar energy output are unknowable. As to the impacts of human-caused CO2, they can't be judged "with the knowledge and technology we currently possess."

    Other gross model simplifications include

    # Ignorance about large and small-scale ocean dynamics

    # A complete lack of meaningful representations of aerosol changes that generate clouds.
    # Lack of understanding of drivers of ice-albedo (reflectivity) feedbacks: "Without a reasonably accurate representation, it is impossible to make any meaningful predictions of climate variations and changes in the middle and high latitudes and thus the entire planet."
    # Inability to deal with water vapor elements
    # Arbitrary "tunings" (fudges) of key parameters that are not understood

    Concerning CO2 changes he says,

I want to point out a simple fact that it is impossible to correctly predict even the sense or direction of a change of a system when the prediction tool lacks and/or grossly distorts important non-linear processes, feedbacks in particular, that are present in the actual system …

… The real or realistically-simulated climate system is far more complex than an absurdly simple system simulated by the toys that have been used for climate predictions to date, and will be insurmountably difficult for those naïve climate researchers who have zero or very limited understanding of geophysical fluid dynamics. I understand geophysical fluid dynamics just a little, but enough to realize that the dynamics of the atmosphere and oceans are absolutely critical facets of the climate system if one hopes to ever make any meaningful prediction of climate variation.

Solar input, absurdly, is modelled as a "never changing quantity". He says, "It has only been several decades since we acquired an ability to accurately monitor the incoming solar energy. In these several decades only, it has varied by one to two watts per square metre. Is it reasonable to assume that it will not vary any more than that in the next hundred years or longer for forecasting purposes? I would say, No."

There is much, much more. Read the whole thing.

But who are you going to believe: a superbly qualified Japanese scientist or a Swedish teenager with mental issues?

Thank you to all who have contributed. :)

    Hello @Enoch,

Yes, it is far more important that people, whatever their age, are made aware of the grace of God, and the door of opportunity that is open to them, of being reconciled to Him, in and through the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ, now risen and glorified. (2 Corinthians 6:2)

'Flee from the wrath to come' - is as important as it ever was for the placards erected by those who face the ridicule and abuse that the world has to throw at them as street preachers.

God warned us about the geological and meteorological changes that would take place leading up to Christ's return, so we are not without warning. These are the beginning of sorrows.

I will not take a stance for or against climate change on this forum, for I believe that God's will, will be done, and His purposes will be accomplished regardless of what is said on either side: and that is what matters above all else. However there is a generation of children growing up who are being influenced to rise up against authority, leave school and protest about what they perceive to be a threat to their future wellbeing, and it is this 'spirit' that I find troubling, regardless of it's cause, for it could threaten the rule of law, in the long-term I feel.

    In Christ Jesus
    Chris
