All the western powers are very dependent on US for security and military support, and advanced technologies, and always likely will be as a counter to Russia, Iran, China, N Korea, etc... We have defended Canada and Mexico too just by existing as a super power being direct neighbors. If the USA was not so strong, Russia and China would have taken over the world. We are the counter balance force.
