Four Jewish mums gave birth to a nationMaggie FoxReuters Monday, 16 January 2006 Jewish people's history and migrations are reflected in their DNA, a new study shows (Image: iStockphoto) Four Jewish mothers who lived 1000 years ago in Europe are the ancestors of 40% of all Ashkenazi Jews alive today, international researchers report. The DNA study paints a vivid picture of human evolution and survival, and correlates with the well-established written and oral histories of Jewish migrations, says Dr Doron Behar of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, who worked on the study. The study, published in the American Journal of Human Genetics, suggests that some 3.5 million Jews alive today descended from four women. For their study, Behar and scientists from Europe and the US sampled DNA from 11,452 people from 67 populations."All subjects reported the birthplace of their mothers, grandmothers, and, in most cases, great-grandmothers," the scientists write. They looked at mitochondrial DNA, which is found in cells, outside the nucleus and away from the DNA that carries most genetic instructions.Mitochondrial DNA is passed down virtually unchanged from mother to daughter, but it does occasionally mutate, at a known rate. Researchers can use this molecular clock to track genetic changes through time. They used it, for instance, to compute when the "ancestral Eve" of all living humans lived: in Africa, about 180,000 years ago. Now they have found four ancestral Jewish mothers. "I think there was some kind of genetic pool that was in the Near East," Behar says."Among this genetic pool there were four maternal lineages, four real women, that carried the exact specific mitochondrial DNA markers that we can find in mitochondrial DNA today." Settling EuropeThey, or their direct descendants, moved into Europe. "Then at a certain period, most probably in the 13th century, simply by demographic matters, they started to expand dramatically," Behar says. "Maybe it was because of Jewish tradition, the structure of the family that might have been characterised by a high number of children."But these four families gave rise to much of the population of European Jews, which exploded from 30,000 people in the 13th century to "something like 9 million just prior to World War II", Behar says. The Nazis and their allies killed 6 million Jews during the war, but there are now an estimated 8 million Ashkenazi Jews, defined by their common northern and central European ancestry, cultural traditions and Yiddish language. Behar says as they sampled people from Ashkenazi communities around the world, the same mitochondrial genetic markers kept popping up.They did not find the markers in most of the non-Jewish people they sampled, and only a very few were shared with Jews of other origin.Ancestry not genetic diseaseThis particular study does not provide a direct explanation for some of the inherited diseases that disproportionately affect Jews of European descent, such as breast and colon cancer, because most diseases are caused by mutations in nuclear DNA, not the DNA studied by Behar's group. These genes are believed to date from a 'bottleneck' phenomenon, when populations were squeezed down from large to small and then expanded again.Behar and Skorecki's team have found what is known as a 'founder effect', when one or a small number of people have a huge number of descendants.

Why does this story matter because the scriptures tell us that the ten tribes went North over the Caucasus Mt. into Scotland, Ireland and Britain and eventually became the christian Nations of today(often called by the name of the largest tribes of Ephraim and MannashThat only the tribes of the south Judah, with Benjamin and a few Leviets priest remained, much later migrating into Europeand became the modern day Jews of current Day Israel called by the name of the Largest tribe Judah in scripture. Now Eze. 37:16-19tells us these are the two branches (sticks) of christian and Jew that will be joined together under Christ at his returnSo now this article says that there was narrowing of the gene pool and all current day Jews stem from 4 mothersvery interesting

This is a good report! They are telling on them selves!!"Four Jewish mothers who lived 1000 years ago in Europe are the ancestors of 40% of all Ashkenazi Jews alive today, international researchers report."Notice this report specifically states that these Jews are of Ashkenazim decent and not descendants of ANY of the twelve tribes of Israel. If modern Jews are not descendants of the original Israelites, who are they? Professor of Medieval Jewish History, Abraham N. Poliak of Tel Aviv University, has stated:"The large majority of world Jewry is descended from the Jews of Khazaria." (The Thirteenth Tribe by Arthur Koestler (New York: Random House, 1976) p.226)The people living in Palestine in the 20th century have no racial nor historic connection with Palestine and are, in reality, descendants from a Turko-Mongolian tribal people who created a kingdom called Khazaria which existed until the 10th century. These Khazarian "Jews" could just as easily have practiced Christianity, but for whatever reason they chose Judaism (Talmudic Pharisaism) and there is nothing that can be done about it.Obviously, if these people have no racial, or historic connection withPalestine they have no claim to the promises made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob/Israel or the land known as "Israel" (Palestine) today. If this is true then there should be more evidence to support this position, and there is. The American People's Encyclopedia for 1964 at 15-292 records the following reference to Khazars:"In the year 740 the Khazars were officially converted to Judaism. A century later they were cursed by the in-coming Slavic- speaking people and were scattered over central Europe where they were known as Jews. It is from this grouping that most German and Polish Jews are descended, and they likewise make up a considerable part of that population now found in America. The term Aschenazim is now applied to this division."Alfred Lilienthal writes, in "What Price Israel" (Henry Regenery Co., 1953):"Perhaps the most significant mass conversion to the Judaic Faith occurred in Europe, in the 8th century A.D., and that story of the Khazars (Turko-Finnish people) is quite pertinent to the establishment of the modern state of Israel." Again, "That the Khazars are the lineal ancestors of Eastern European Jewry is a historical fact. Jewish historians and religious textbooks acknowledge the fact, though the propagandists of Jewish nationalism belittle it as pro-Arab propaganda."

Before the name Israel was chosen the then new Jewish state considered the name Judah but decided upon Israel as the name of their state.
