Prophets are tempted to say "*and* then... this will happen", but when we lay down our lives, what came before is more relevant (thoughts?)

Hi there,

So I am not saying "abandon prophecy", prophecy must be fulfilled - what I am saying, is that you can not always say "and then... this will happen". Sometimes prophets speak in images and metaphors, but most importantly of all, they point to the Cross. The Cross came before. A prophet then, when he dies, wrestles with the possibility of just prophesying more, but begins to prophecy of the Cross. "Prophecy of the Cross?" you say "But the Cross was already prophesied of?" That's my point! The Cross is prophesied of in a new way.

This new way of prophesying the Cross, as those who have laid down their lives beforehand know, gives place to the Holy Spirit, to cohere and bring together the meaning of the Cross, but also to bring those who are astray of the Cross, back in to God. There is power in this, because it is not mere prophecy, which stands alone whether people believe it or not - no! - it is a way of relating the future of people's beliefs and how they will come to be affected by the Cross.

A word in season, can say much more, than many words about life coming to an end.

So how do we make ourselves ready, for this "new way of prophesying the Cross"? It is not by anticipation! It is by due diligence doing the work of Christ that we love most. The work of Christ, if we love it, empowers us! It is this to which we are called. The Chosen of God may come and go, but the work of the Lord and its love, will follow the faith forever.

I hope this has been of some encouragement.

God bless.
