It's a bit like the Zen koan "does a tree falling in the forest make a sound, if nobody hears it?".

Does someone do something for God, if it's never recorded in the Bible? Or similarly, does it have to be for God, until it is in the Bible?

Many are first that will be last and many last who will be first - the urgency of developing a relationship with God, is never more clear, than when you realise this is your last chance now.
It's not "your last chance now".

This is an older thread, but I think that demanding "evidence" for the existence of a higher power defeats the VERY purpose and foundation of faith and spirituality itself. I suppose some people could point to Near-Death Experiences for example, as possible "evidence" for some kind of afterlife, although skeptics will dismiss those also.

I think it is in the end, something deeper, from the "heart", from your personal intuition, if you will, that true belief and prayer is founded upon. Religion is not something you can necessarily "prove" or "disprove" like experiments in a certain laboratory, it is something very profound and personal.

It's actually a whole lot easier to prove than what most think.

One of the major laws of physics about material matter is that it can neither be created nor destroyed, but only change its form (liquid, solid, gas, vapor).

This means... material matter did NOT create itself.

And then that means... something involving ANOTHER DIMENSION of existence had to have created material matter.

Thus the mere existence of material matter reveals that at least one other dimension exists that is NOT of material matter.

That other dimension those in Christ call the Heavenly. And The One we believe that created material matter is The LORD GOD and His Son and The Holy Spirit. In John 4, he said that "God is a Spirit", pointing to that other dimension as being made of Spirit.

Proof there will be no women in heaven.

Revelation 8:1

King James Version

8 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.

Yes, a joke to lighten up.

Yes, the multiverse theory is (possibly) compatible with that - all those different universes must have some kind of common source, surely.

I'm not "laughing". I'm simply stating that you are wrong. Can't you back up your statement with something other than an out-of-context, judgmental, single verse?
"Laughing now" is not taking the moment seriously - I don't know what could be clearer?

Heb 11:3
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
KJV

And thus through Faith God's people understand things about God's creation that modern science has yet to grasp.

I usually refrain from philosophical discussions concerning the proof or disproof of God. Belief in God is a faith akin to love, both of which are alogical constructs. Trying to use logic and/or empirical evidence to refute or prove the existence of God is missing the point of spirituality and faith altogether.A logical response to your philosophical premise.

This TEDx talk (15 min.) about invulnerability is fascinating. The subject of faith comes up.
The invulnerability bubble we like to put ourselves in precludes faith in anything.

The price of invulnerability: Brené Brown at TEDxKC

2,383,389 views Oct 12, 2010

TEDxKC talk synopsis: In our anxious world, we often protect ourselves by closing off parts of our lives that leave us feeling most vulnerable. Yet invulnerability has a price. When we knowingly or unknowingly numb ourselves to what we sense threatens us, we sacrifice an essential tool for navigating uncertain times -- joy. This talk will explore how and why fear and collective scarcity has profoundly dangerous consequences on how we live, love, parent, work and engage in relationships -- and how simple acts can restore our sense of purpose and meaning.

Speaker: Dr. Brené Brown is a research professor at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work where she has spent the past 10 years studying courage, shame and authenticity. She is the Behavioral Health Scholar-in-Residence at the Council on Alcohol and Drugs and has written several books on her research. www.brenebrown.com/welcome

There has to be a Creator, just look around, up, down, side to side, into yourself. That's it. Then we can take the Bible and start to discover, who this Creator really is.
Agree.
The complexity of the created universe points to intelligent design.

Nope. If God could be proven through either logic or scientific discovery, He would cease to be a matter of faith, and instead be fact. Everyone would accept His existence, and we all know that is never going to happen.
Don't you think that these discussions should have been locked by now, considering that it has been 12-13 years and the thread starter is still classified as a new member since 2008?

"Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him" - Hebrews 11:6
